Course has potential but it’s clearly ran by city clowns
This is the worst ran golf course I’ve ever been to in my life. We arrived half an hour early and despite nobody being started already on the course they clown of a starter made everyone wait until there was a ton of people stacked up on top of each other after our tee times and then blows this stupid horn like it’s a horse race or something. After this fiasco we got off to a late start paired with random people playing cart path only. Then for the second 9 the same idiot of a starter put a 5some in front of us so we waited for every shot the entire back 9. Worst ran course I’ve ever seen. If you want a 5+ hour round with a bunch of bozos come here. Otherwise go anywhere else. None of us will be back.
1st time at course
Everything considered nice open course, we had 3 bad days of rain so it was water logged on fairway and was told one of the par 3 courses was virtually unplayable. Total value was good due to the one course all players were playing same 2 9 hole courses caused backup but understandable. Will try course again after rainy season
Glen, thanks for the positive feedback. We have received about 15 inches of rain the past two weeks. We hope to see you back soon at CHGC. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Wet N Wild
Have played other courses in the area after rain and drainage seemed to keep wet areas to a minimum. Many holes today seemed like a water hazard . I wish they would just cancel play to keep the course from being torn up.
Thanks for the feedback. We have received about 15 inches of rain the past 2 weeks. Daily sun and some summer breezes would be helpful. We have closed B Course down a couple of times and used cart path restrictions on the other two courses. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Great value!
Although the course was wet from excessive rain, it still played well. The greens are in great shape. Great practice course!
Thanks for the positive feedback. We have received about 15 inches of rain the past couple weeks. We have had to close B Course a couple times as it was saturated. Cart path restrictions had to be implemented as well. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Felt taken advantage of
Booked on Golf Now for B/C course, no advisory noted. Got to course and informed Junior Tournament starting at 8am, our T Time 8.15am. Only Course C open and have to play it twice, most was cart path only and should of been closed due to the water. Pace of play was very slow of course and course starter was having a really bad day with his attitude showing it. Have played course several times prior and will hope to have better luck next time.
Thank you for the feedback. Please call me at 863-834-2379 as I would like to have you and your group back at CHGC as my guests. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing Azalea/Camelia Golf Course at Cleveland Heights Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Summer Golf in Florida
Course well maintained even with the recent days monsoons. Several fairways with standing water but traps were groomed and greens were firm and quick. Summer in FL always means some bare spots in greens but they were manageable. Staff is always friendly and pace was good. New restaurant and bar are a good ending to a fun round.
Thanks for the positive feedback. The rain has been a problem as we seem to be getting hit daily. Look forward to seeing you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Great municipal course
Keep your play on the fairway and you’ll have a good game. Greens roll true, drainage is working well almost everywhere. Excellent value and fun to play.
Extremely unpleasant starter. Decent course with some rough patches on almost every green.
Trudd, thanks for the feedback. We did a greens aerification and battled some nematoad issues. We hope to see you back at CHGC in the future. Call me at 863-834-2379. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Hello, trudd1414. Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We see you rated the course 2-stars and are interested in learning what we can do to improve for your next visit. We take customer feedback very serious at our course. This is not acceptable and by no means the standard we strive to achieve. Please reach out to our team in the golf shop and tell us what's on your mind. Thank you for playing Azalea/Camelia Golf Course at Cleveland Heights Golf Club.
Thanks for the positive feed back and glad you had a good golf experience at CHGC. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Great City course
The staff is the best, always friendly and and accommodating. The course is well maintained ,which adds to the beauty of the course however, don't take the course for granted, it will challenge you.
If you're in the Lakeland Fl you'll want to play Cleaveland Heights, you'll be glad you did.
The Heights
Nice course. I have not played in several weeks due to course maintenance issues the last time I played. Was pleasantly surprised to be able to see the attention that the course was given since then. I will be back soon.
Thanks for the feedback Jeff. We did a couple of aerifications and battled a nematoad problem during that time. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
some greens and tees still need some work
played a and c nines both recently aerated so some bumps still couple greens on c sided need more help than just aeration some tee boxes on c nine no grass
Thanks for the feedback. We had high counts of nematoads on some greens that we have addressed. We have seen some good results from the applications and aerifications. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Great Course
This is one of the favorite courses which our group plays. It is not pristine but is well maintained, especially considering that they have 27 holes to maintain. The groundskeepers do need to address the bare spots on some of the greens.
Thanks for you feedback. We have addressed these issues as we had high counts of nematoads on some greens. Applications to address this and greens aerification have improved the surfaces. Brock Witmyer (GM)
The Heights
The A course was good. This is the first time I played the C course this year. It was not in great condition. The Greens, for the most part, very rough. You can blame ariated greens only so much. large area's of bare dirt. some portions looked like a patch work quilt. The area just off the fairway had big clumps of cut grass that you can lose your ball in.. Staff Excellent as always. Please rescue the C course, and bag those clumps of grass.
Thanks for the feedback Jeff. We had some challenges with nematoad counts on some greens that we have addressed. We plan on doing another aerification on all 3 courses in the middle of July. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Hi, icjeff. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Azalea/Camelia Golf Course at Cleveland Heights Golf Club. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
The Heights
Mature city course. No surrounding houses which cannot be said for many courses in Florida. Quiet and peaceful. Club house very nice. I got an ice tea and was surprised that it was free refills for the day. Will be back again this week.
Thanks for the positive feedback. You are correct that The Heights is a throw back to no houses, it is golf course and nature. The rich history continues at THE HEIGHTS! Brock Witmyer (GM)
Great track. Well kept
Very nice fairways and greens fairly fast great place when you can grab the hot deal on golf now.
Very Good Course for the Money and Fun to Play
I've played here often over the years. I always enjoy playing this course. I play different tees alot of the times. With the new irrigation system the fairways are beautiful. Better then I've ever seen them. The tee boxes are getting worked on and are on the up swing and getting better. The greens are being aerated the 2 weeks before I played and are still bumpy. But that is expected this time of the year with required maintenance. For the most part the greens are in excellent condition. Yes, there are some spots that are filling in over the next few months from nematode damage(?) But most the greens are in excellent condition. Of the 27 greens 18 of them are near perfect. The other 9 or so, spread out over the 27, are filling in but very very playable. From what I've seen of the greens the damage areas are, for the most part, near edges and not in the middle playable areas. For $25 for 18 with a cart the course can not be beat.
Thanks for the positive feedback. We have been addressing the things that you have pointed out. The much needed greens aerifications and 9 inches of rain really helped coming at the same time. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Greens are awful
If you like putting on greens with huge dirt/mud patches all over them, this is your place.
Thanks for your feedback. We were in the middle of doing aerifications during your visit. It is a essential maintenance practice that golfer hate, but necessary for better turf results. Please reach out to me 863-834-2379 before your next visit. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Azalea/Camelia Golf Course at Cleveland Heights Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
The city of Lakeland should be ashamed.
I’ve been playing on and off at this golf course for more than 35 years.... and they have reached an all time low. Of course the pro shop staff is going to be grumpy and rude (not Keith), that’s a staple at the heights. A course is a wreck. C course is weeds. B course was closed. The greens are complete garbage. The crew mowing has no concern with wet areas... they just blow thru them and leave muddy ruts. It’s time for the City to step up and get the golf course playable. Check out the video from A8 green I’ve attached.

Michael, thanks for the feedback as we always want to get better. We have been doing aerifications on tees, greens and verti-cutting fairways over the past few weeks. It is necessary maintenance practices that golfers hate, but essential. The picture you posted is of 8A is where we have had high counts of nematodes that we are addressing. Please give me a call at 863-834-2379 to talk about your negative golf experience at CHGC so we can correct it. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Soggy after rains
We played after some pretty heavy rains the day before and parts of this course do not drain. The greens were poor, rolling slow on the first nine and fast on the second nine. Fortunately we got a great discount thru GolfNow so we’re happy.
Paul, thanks for the feedback as we always want to try to get better. We have been doing aerifications on all three courses as it is that time of year that golfers hate. These maintenance practices are essential a few times a year to improve surfaces. Brock Witmyer (GM)

We appreciate the feedback. Tee times start at 7:30am to 9:30am and 11:30am to 1:30pm due to crossovers having 27 holes. The horn is blown at 7:30am to start play on all three courses. Please give me a call at 863-834-2379 so we can discuss this further. Brock Witmyer (GM)
