The Club at Eaglebrooke
About
Eaglebrooke, located in Lakeland -- halfway between Orlando and Tampa, is considered one of the premier golf courses in Florida. Its classic links-style design with over 100 feet of elevation change is unique in this part of the state. Natural lakes, abundant with wildlife, can come into play on eleven of the holes creating both spectacular scenery and challenging golf shots. To increase the challenge, there are six sets of tees on each hole. The "seniors" tees were customed designed for the course by architect Ron Garl. Garl requested Senior Golf Magazine to survey seniors for optimal playing preferences and then included these requests in the course design. The atmosphere is first class and the course features bag pick-up at your car. Eaglebrooke was the first course in the US to use Greg Norman's GN 1 grass, the fastest growing and greenest grass available.

Slow play
We wish we had only paid for 9 holes because we only got through 10 holes because the groups in front of us were unbelievably slow and we were at a complete stop at 6:00 with 3 groups of 4 congested in front of us. The group in front of us kept apologizing, but it wasn’t their fault. It was the 2 other groups in front of them that were slow. It was really frustrating, so we ended up just leaving because it was going to be too dark by the time we were even going to be able to play that next hole. We should have been able to easily get in 16 holes had they played responsibly. The clubhouse was closed by the time we got back there, so we couldn’t say anything to them before we left. Very disappointed that there weren’t any rangers out there speeding them up and that we didn’t get to play more holes.
We are from Michigan and were very much looking forward to having a warm and great game of @ least 16 holes before dark.
5-min tee times
Loved the layout of this course, but you cannot do 5-min tee times under any circumstance. I live in Tampa & may come back, but this was a 5hr round with 5-15 min waits on every hole. Ranger was very friendly and shared that he was honestly in a position of not being able to do anything - ca n't blame the guy! Mgr/superintendant, don't do this again.
I have nothing negative to say about the course! It was perfect. The only drawback was the golf carts didn’t have GPS. Will go back again
Intresting Layout
The course was an intresting layout. Several really good holes and some just okay. The finishing holes were extremely difficult and due to the course conditons almost unfair. The course was very dry and hard. The fairways were very very tight. This is due to the weather lately here. The greens were good, but pretty slow.I would play again when everything greens up for the summer.
could not play
Unfortunately, i was unable to play due to a sudden back injury. My playing partner played without me.
I use Golfnow religiously.
Curious to know if Golfnow has any refund policy for cases such as mine? I will be seeing a pain management doctor in the morning.
Very fun course!
I have lived in the area couple of years. We play at Southern Dunes most the time, but always wanted to try Eaglebrooke.
Lots of water comes into play, but fairways are wide and fair. Bunkers are well maintained and the greens were awesome. Normal dormant fairway grass, but still very playable.
I will be back! Really looking forward to see this course all greened up.
Good Experience
Course layout was fantastic. Conditions less than desirable due to drought and freezing temps. Greens were excellent and putted true. Course had no color whatsoever ... I will return as I want to experience this course under optimum conditions. Pro Shop staff were very courteous and informative.
Poor course conditions
The course, especially the fairways were burned out and extremely thin of any real grass. While the greens were in good condition, they were very dry and hard as a rock. The pace of place was so bad. We teed off at 12:50pm, and waited on every single hole through 14. We did not finish our round until 5:40. For a semi-private course, this was a pretty sad experience. The beverage service on course was great,, but the course was disappointing. I won’t be coming back any time soon.
Improved
Haven’t played since new greens and drainage. Very tight lies in fairways make it challenging this time of year. Not a great course for higher handicap players. Many carries over water or wetlands. You will likely use a ton of balls. Great practice facilities included in rate.
Nice day!
Was cold and windy but we had a good time. Greens are perfect. Some fairways were dry which I hadn’t seen there in a while but overall good. The practice area is super nice
Excellent layout and fun to play
very interesting course and fun to play, condition is good
Always a pleasure at Eaglebrook
Super fun layout. Nice greens and fairways. Great stuff and solid range. Hot deal for $65? Take my money and let me come back!
Best in Lakeland
If you get the chance when in the Lakeland area you must play Eaglebrooke
Greens have come back extremely well!!
From what I recalled reading, the course had a planned green rework that was recently completed and opened back up for play several months ago. I took a shot to see for myself and was not disappointed. The new greens have taken extremely well and the other course conditions were as good as expected for this type of course. Kudos to the their maintenance staff and the group that runs this course to get it back to it's standing as one of the better layouts in the area!
