Very Sad State of Affairs
Very Sad that use to be a primere Central Fla course.
Hard times for many courses over the years..but Imperial Lakes has fallen into complete disarray.
SERIOUS FIRE ANT issues.
Course definitely has opportunity to be GREAT once again..needs a serious investor or management company, maintenance and landscaping.
Large community surrounds course.. Perhaps private or memberships is its only hope.
Rude Staff
Course was average but staff made it clear to me that do not appreciate golfnow players. Staff unable to locate our tee time stating golfnow supposed to send course Email but he could not find it. Did let us go out. Went to first tee to wait for tee off and staff rushed out to demand we wait in the parking lot until tee off time. No problem with staff request but how it was requested was exceptionally rude, ignorant & total lack of any social skill to represent the course in working with customers. Reflects poorly.
Greatly improved.
This onetime great golf course had fallen on some hard times and the deteroiation was so evident you could see it from the street. I have lived across from this club for over 12 years and the condition had run from grevious to pathetic. FINALLY someone with some heart, grit and money has bought the entire club with the intentions of restoring it to its earlier grandiosity. The greens are nice, the fairways manicured and little by little this course is making a comeback. I'm not some hot shot semi-pro or retired yuppie who is used to caddies and caviar. You won't find that here. What you will find is a challenging, once competitive course that has been through the mill (drought, hurricanes and complete bisection by the county to install a major water main) that has the potential to return to the greatness of its glory days. I'm an average hack who used to drive past Imperial Lakes to golf elsewhere but now plays it regularly.
Best Bang for the Buck around
Very good value and pleasant staff! The course is under new management I'm told and it's easy to see they are making improvements. There are some rough areas but overall it's a lot of fun to play here. I've been told by friends this was the premier private course a while back and it's hoping to recapture some of that. I wish them luck and will definitely be back!
Ghetto
Back in the day, I'm sure this was an incredible place to play. Now, not so much. Most of the greens are pretty rough. Back 9 much better than the front. Areas around green need work. Driving range was closed. Pretty soft.
Jewel of the 1960's
Great layout & obviously once a premier golf course. Owners have obviously decided to have a philosophy of only putting out enough resources to keep the course playable. The finess manicure days are in the past, & the once acclaimed glory of this place is now in the past tense. Greens & fairways are maintained but at a low level of expertise, fertilizer & updating with new concrete & asphalt would do wonders to inhance the eye appeal. However, the price I paid to play was fair & my expectations were low & thus I have no complaints, & we really had an enjoyable round even tho the weather forecasters were really off in their predictions- misty rain joined us for the majority of play when sunshine was to be the plan of the day!
Nice layout !
Could really be a great course. Needs some attention. Quite a few greens with sand patches on them.
Cow pasture
Dig a hole and put a flag in a cow pasture and hit your ball toward it. If you hit a cow just add a stroke for PETAs sake. It will cost you less and may have better green conditions.
Much improved from last year
The tees, fairways and greens are much greener this year. Greens were pretty fast and rolled good. Tees were definitely improved. The pace of play was very good. They are really working on improving this course. Looks like all the rain in the last couple of months has really helped. This is a fun course. I liked the front 9 best. We shall return!
Very poor
I give this a one star as a courtesy to the staff who work there
Holes 1 and 2 had temporary greens
The rdest were terrible
Fairways were rough. Pinned intended
Bunkers were like concrete
Quit after 11 holes
Overall a bad experience
Absentee Owner
This is the 3rd time in 3 years that I've played this course. Each time, I've hoped that the owner would polish this worn out diamond. I asked the extremely nice older gentleman at the clubhouse check-in if he was the owner. He said the owner is back in NY. Most likely a tax write-off for an owner who hasn't cared in a LONG, LONG time. Such a shame!!! Empty pool, extremely run down clubhouse, bar, course, parking lot, facilities, etc, etc. You name it- it's run down. This place has amazing potential. Beautifully designed and laid out course, but everything dry as dust, and completely neglected. Tee-offs and Greens are worst I've ever seen. One tee-off was completely sand - not a blade of grass to be found. Cart paths are bumpy, uneven, and broken down. Minimal maintenance in general. It breaks my heart. I wish I could buy this course and put a little money into it. It could be the nicest country club/course in the Lakeland area. The country club/ wedding/function hall potential is huge, never mind the potentially beautiful course/league play. So sad. Desperately needs new ownership.
Imperial Lakes Stinks
This course is so terrible that after we played 1 hole I went back and asked for my money back. They would not refund the money. The fairway was mostly weeds and the greens were black with little or no grass. I would recommend that Golf Now eliminate this course from it's list. It is worse than a cow pasture.
Greens were terrible
I have played this course for years. I have never see it in such terrible shape. The greens were anything but green, mostly dirt.
no way
They've really let the course go. Well i think rough fairways rough
greens... Theres a reason its 25 bucks !!!!!! O yeah and the cart died
18 holes of golf
At one time this was likely a beautiful course, but know it needs a lot of work. The price we paid for 18 holes was way way to much. With the condition of this course I would rate it at a $15.00 course for 18 holes.
Past It's time
If you played using WINTER rules ( lift, find some grass & place ) on fairways & greens. You can have a good round. To bad because course layout is VERY good, was once the place to play in the area. Course/equipment & facilities need a lot of work. But will play again using winter rules.
Not Maintained
While course has potential it appears a decision has been made to not invest in this course. Not being maintained. While fairways are fair there was no grass on any of the greens.
Needs work
It looks as if this course is about ready to close, all amenities are old and no updates being undertaken. Greens were pretty bare.
it's 2020 and the staff is still rude. No wonder there was one car in the parking lot when I waked out.
