The ninth hole runs only 339 yards, but the dangerous approach must cross a pond. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

Seen from behind the green, a view of the 13th. This par-3 measures 125 yards and plays to an island green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

Seventeen is a fine driving hole. Off the tee is trouble both right and left, and the fairway narrows after the prime landing zone. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

If one hole is most likely to wreck your card, it is the par-4 18th (index #1), whose large water hazard threatens both the drive and second shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

Judging by its pancake-like shell, this appears to be a Florida softshell turtle, who was traveling cautiously from pond to pond across the eleventh tee. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 03/13/2026

A superlative short par-3, the fourth features a raised and well-contoured green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/20/2026

At the par-4 tenth, it takes a straight drive to find this narrow fairway. It’s not unusual, though, to find the water. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/20/2026

Fifteen just may be the finest par-3 at Schalamar. Measuring as long as 224 yards, it demands an excellent shot for a GIR. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/20/2026

2nd Hole: Par-5, 519 yards: The driving zone allows for a slashing drive off the tee, but on the second shot (viewed here) the fairway narrows like an hourglass. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025
-
6th Hole: Par-3, 180: A lengthy bunker nabs misplayed shots to the right and front of green six, as seen from the woodland. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

9th Hole: Par-4: Although 339 yards, this index 6 hole challenges you on every shot. A hook off the tee spells deep, watery trouble. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

Running as long as 400 yards, the 10th threatens not only with a daunting array of hazards—water, sand, trees, OOB–but also a tight fairway. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 02/18/2025

Post Ian
The break after the hurricane really improved play conditions. A few trees downed which opened up some spots on the edge of the fairway. The tees are fair, the fairways and rough have been mowed and are dry, and the greens healed some and rolled truer than the last few months. Gene, the starter, is always very friendly and makes sure things run smoothly on the course. Today was 90 degree carts. I had such a good round, I wish I could’ve replayed!
Thanks so much for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed your round at Schalamar Creek Golf Club. That's what we like to hear! We hope to see you again soon!
Swamp land crap hole
I realize you get what you pay for but this mud pit was there worse course I ever played. To say it doesn’t drain well is an understatement. The entire course was a wet nightmare. Greens were slow and layout was terrible. Play was incredibly slow. I quit after nine. If your course is in this shape due to rain, either warn me or just close it for the day. Telling cart path only warning is not sufficient enough. I suppose whoever developed this community just said “hey let’s jam a 18 hole course in this area. Only positive note is the customer service was good, especially the starter. No a surprise since they are likely desperate to get business. I feel sorry for the folks that live in the community.who thought they could enjoy golf here. Good luck management, you need it. Maybe it won’t rain much next year, right!
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve and are working diligently to improve the course. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
We appreciate the review. You rated us 3-stars which means there is room to improve on your recent experience at Schalamar Creek Golf Club. Let us know, in the comments, how and where you would like to see changes from the course. Thanks for the feedback!
Swamp Golf
Cart path only, wettest course I've ever played, complete swamp.
Some greens were in rough shape but overall you get what you pay for.
Pretty straightforward course, gotta hit it center or you're in the trees.
Bring bug spray for the mosquitoes.
Clubhouse was small but decent, and the restaurant was fast, friendly, and good.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Schalamar Creek Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Course does not play well after a rainstorm. . Other than that it a pretty good course.. just check the weather before you make your tee times.

Good course for the money.
Course is improving conditions. Greens and fairways were looking good today. Roll was a bit slow but we've had rain and this course doesn't do good when it rains. But overall was a good course for the money. Will be back soon.

Unfortunately they got a lot of rain the day before
Unfortunately they got a couple inches of rain the day before. Course was very wet. Holes 15 and 16 were cart path only due to condition. 16 should have been skipped it was pretty much unplayable due to being so wet and the puddles. Been here a few times nice layout not a hard course. One of the few corses in the area that actually rack their sand pits. Today most were to wet to hit out of but luckily I avoided most of them. Will play again.

Course Conditions are Improving!
Back in May when I played here, the greens were in terrible condition...seemed to be transitioning to either new greens or a new grass type. Well, the greens have improved and are taking shape for the season. I was impressed...looking better than some of the other local golf options in the area. Keep up the good work...we will be back.
We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Schalamar Creek Golf Club!
Great course for the money
Great course for the money. The greens were a little rough but the fairways were in great shape. Pace of play was definitely an issue but everyone was friendly. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. A great place to get out and practice.

watch out for the fire ants
the course layout is perfect but the hills of fire ants may surprise you when you step on one. Overall I enjoy the course and would recommend it for an enjoyable day of golf.

The course is creative and some challenges
Course has good greens and a creative layout.
The day I played the course was still recovering from rains and some pending maintenance which caused fairways to be less than manicured.
For a course that is inside 6,200 from Tips, it showed a lot of character and promise.
I plan to definitely come back when the course is back to its normal conditions.
Thank you for visiting us at Schalamar Creek Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Good Value
The course can be a little unforgiving, some fairways will require a good bit of accuracy. The greens are on par with similar courses. The one downside is that the course does not hold water very well. Be prepared for soaked fairways if moderate or heavy rains were recently passing through.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Schalamar Creek Golf Club.
A good challenge!
Schalamar has always been one of my favorite courses to play around Lakeland. For the long hitters, its a great course to work on your long irons or fairway woods off the tee. It is definitely a play the course type of golf course, short, tight and curvy.. If you like a challenge, this is definitely a course you want to try.
Thanks so much for your wonderful review. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your time with us. Please visit again soon. Thanks for choosing Schalamar Creek Golf Club!
Good value
The course layout was good. Even with the frequent rains, the fairways seem to be capable of holding a fair amount of water. As I found with most courses this year, the only thing really lacking was the quality of greens and tee off boxes.
Hello, thank you for visiting us at Schalamar Creek Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
