White Witch Golf Course at Rose Hall
About
The White Witch Course at Rose Hall is named after one of Jamaica's most famous legends, Annie Palmer who was called the "White Witch of Rose Hall." It is rumored that her spirit haunts the Rose Hall estate, including the golf course. Rather than a tropical setting, the course has a unique mountainous terrain but the vibrant foliage, tradewinds, and pleasant ocean views are still in keeping with its Caribbean location. The golf course is challenging with an intimidating layout that features dramatic elevation changes and numerous well-placed bunkers. Although it is a difficult course, its scenery makes it popular amongst all golfers.

Getting better
Have played the witch numerous times last 5 yrs and while the layout and views are excellent the conditions have at time been suspect. This year the course was under new ownership and as they were getting ready for the big break (think it is Altered golf on golf channel) it was in good shape. Staff is friendly and your caddy can definitely help your score but more importantly can definitely add to the enjoyment. The par 3's are picturesque and very good holes. You will come away with a number of holes you remember which is the mark of a good course. Stayed at the hyatt ziva and they have a golf package that makes the cost very reasonable. I have played Cinammon hill and the sandals golf course in Jamaica and while all are different, the Witch is the one to play if only playing once.
No warts on the beautiful White Witch
The White Witch casts her spell as soon as golfers step outside the back door of the clubhouse. The view of the ocean from the patio gets even more gorgeous down on the first tee, a par-5 that drops off dramatically to a well-bunkered fairway below. There might not be a prettier course in Jamaica than this one. All the holes, sitting high on a hillside, are cut from an unforgiving path through the jungle. The downhill tee shots like No. 1 are offset by a handful of steep climbs to elevated greens (like no. 9). It's a nice mix of birdie opportunities and gut-punching tests of golf. Caddies, which are required, really help reading greens full of grain. Although the course had some rough spots in conditioning, the White Witch still remains a top 10 Caribbean golf experience. Yeah, Mon.
A great caribbean mountain golf experience
I really like the layout of this course, lots of elevation change, nice views, fairways in excellent condition, greens pretty good (some burn in places but otherwise good). A caddy is required in Jamaica. My caddy Chicko was good for 10+ strokes a round, played with him twice. Having a good caddy in my mind contributes greatly to the golf experience. I have fond memories of playing this course three years earlier. White Witch is one of my favorite courses in the world.
