The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

6 hour pace of play.

If you enjoy having a drink and standing around for 20 minutes on each hole this is the course for you.

Strange Layout

1st time playing the North Course.

Front 9 is a real test. Hazards everywhere and few bail out spots.

Back 9 is like playing a completely different course. It’s wide open. Like someone has put 9 holes in a big field.

Condition was ok. Fringes and greens could have been neater & quicker.

Would play again but wouldn’t pay $120 to play it. The South course is a better layout.

North Course

I’m a 19 handicap and found the North course perfect for my level. Had a fun round joining in with some old locals who brought the 80s music and comedy value. Pro Shop is awesome and staff are all really friendly and helpful. Top notch experience and will definitely be back if not become a regular there.

Packed, overpriced and overbooked

When I arrived there were no carts available. Once I got a cart and went to the range there were no open spots to hit from so there was more waiting. There were no Marshall’s on the course to govern pace of play. You could tell this course gets a heavy dose of play. The greens were inundated with ball marks that are not being fixed. The carts will stop on you and say 90* rule in effect even though I was observing the rule. There were several holes deemed as cart path only even though they were not wet. The whole experience made it for a frustrating day. I don’t have any plans of playing here again.

Over priced

Played Black Horse recently. Normal green fee for a weekday is $100. As a Senior rate was discounted to $70. The course was ok, but no where near being worth $70, much less $100 Green fee shouldn’t be any higher than $40.

Fun course but not in the greatest shape

Course layout was fun and challenging. But wasn’t happy at all with the overall condition of the course. It was cart path only due to heavy rain from days prior. Off the cart path was very muddy and didn’t seem to be maintained very well. Fairways were rough. Rarely hit off of any good grass. Greens were in good shape. Just can’t seem to justify the high price. Would like to try it again in the summer

Great course, beautiful view

Visiting my friend here in Houston, played 4 courses during this Thanksgiving holiday week. This is my favour. Great layout, good condition, great drainage. Raining was stopped one hour before my tee time, a little bit wt, but the course was not impacted by the heavy rain. Cart with GPS and rain cover. Friendly staff. I would give 5 stars if there were a bathroom in the middle, not have to hold till finishing 9 holes. Will comeback try South course in the future.
