BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Overall course in good shape, but bunkers unplayable
Pace of play was great; about 4 hours. Greens, fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. The bunkers are unplayable, They have have very little sand, and what is available is hard packed. At this price I expect better, and can pay less for better conditions in this area. Will not return until things improve.
Covid 19 Golf
Course was in outstanding condition, even the sand traps. Greens were exceptional.
Great course
Easily one of the better courses in Houston area. This was my first time playing BlackHorse and I will be back.
Most enjoyable round in years!
Came back to Houston to visit my daughter who has been working from home for 45 days and I decided to play a round of golf. I have not lived in Houston for 6 years since retiring so I was not up on which golf courses were in good playing condition but I took a chance on Blackhorse and was more than happy with all aspects of the course! Great greens, great fairways and tee boxes, staff was helpful and courteous, all things considered I had a great round off golf and would recommend Blackhorse to anyone!
Winter Play at Blackhorse
I used GolfNow to book a “Hot Deal” for Blackhorse North. When I arrived I was greeted by a smiling staff member in the pro shop. After a bit of conversation we realized that we had played against each other in high school basketball 43 yrs ago.! What a small world !
I was paired with a young man from North Carolina and another from Arizona. They were gracious and respectful. They played from the tips while I humbly tried playing from the Men’s Blues. The day was sunny, the fairways were in excellent cont. The sand traps, which I frequented many, were impressive in depth and all had the nice soft white sand to hit from. The greens were fast and immaculate.
Unfortunately, I didn’t play well but I couldn’t have chosen a better day or course to play !!!
It’s been along time
Have not played in 15+ years. Good shape. Only issue was no Marshall at start. Had to figure it myself. Ended up playing alone behind a foursome. Played two balls all day until I caught with another singe and played back 9 with him.
Worth the Drive
Course was in great shape for early December. Challenging layout that doesn't get old. Worth the drive if you are in Houston.
Blackhorse South Houston
What a great layout. Fantastic challenge, water, sand and tight but forgiving fairways if you handle the driver well it is no problem to score. Greens are always nice, quick butt not unforgiving? Get out there and play it as soon as you can. Today might have been our best golf day of 2019, light wind high 60’s.. Greens rolled fair and true.
Amazing course
Lay out was great, and just difficult enough to make it fun. Met three good guys and had a good round.
Best in Cypress TX
The course is always in good shape. The layout is fun with a tough stretch from hole 4-7. Back 9 is more open but usually plays in the wind. Staff is friendly and helpful. Pro shop is one of the best in town. Always well stocked and often has good sales. Food at Ropers Grill is outstanding
