BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

My first time player
Course was fun to play but I have never played in wind like that.....and I just got back from playing in Scotland....
Played in a tournament so pace of play was slower then usual. North course is nice but not as challenging as the South. Front nice is the better and more scenic of the two. Course was in good shape but they are starting to price themselves out play for the average golfer. Need to rethink their green fees.
Disappointed
Golfed Friday morning the day after thanksgiving. Course was soaked and it was cart path only but when I made my reservation which was $109/person there was no mention of this being cart path only, if there was I would have booked elsewhere because I was with my grandpa and it is hard for him to walk all around the course. As course was soaked, you would think $109 would at least get you a towel and some ice.. we didn’t get either and had to deal with dirty clubs and balls. Very disappointed in Black Horse
Overcrowded golf course
The Hott deal I purchased online was worth the value to play the course but I will not be paying full price $85+ for this course. Let me first say that the staff is extremely amazing and great customer service. Tough was thick and very hard to play or just lose a ball. I went the day 2 tournaments were playing so the entire course was backed up. Then the staff let four twosomes tee off which backed up the course even more. The staff tried to accomidate and let us play the south course to finish out back nine but caught even more traffic. Almost a 6 hour round. Not sure if it was the tournament or the regular crowd but all greens had I repaired divot marks and players dragging their feet.
Nice course, but pace of play was terrible.
Course was in good shape, but the pace of play pretty much ruined the experience. We ended up skipping a hole and going around one group only to get behind another slow group. Definitely not worth the price when you have to wait 5 minutes before every shot.
Play south course if you can .
Nice day of golf . This was my second time on blackhorse golf course and my first time on the north course . I definitely prefer the south course , no sand in the bunkers , quiet noisy due to the main road close by .
But the course in general is nice to play . I’ll come back !
Excellent course!
The course is in excellent shape. Very challenging. This would be very tough for a beginner.
Rain
Rain before play and still 90 degree. Course in best shape ever!!! Perfect day of golf especially with the GN hot deal.
Challenging course, never pushed by players behind us, wish my score was a little better.
Great course
Both the north and south courses are great. It’s a good test of your game for sure. The back 9 of the south course is one of the best in houston.

Excellent player's course
A course with a few challenges without being overly difficult. Positioning is key to lower scoring. North Course is less challenging than the South Course. Great practice areas, with putting areas next to the 1st tees on both courses.
Best Public Course in Houston
It’s by the far the best public course in Houston. The cover photo with the foot bridge over the water on South Course isn’t a bait and switch. The whole course is maintained to nearly a private club level.
The catch?
It’s the nicest public course in Houston by a wide margin and you’ll pay premium for it (approximately $110 per round). It’d be 10-15% cheaper on per round basis to get a club Corp membership and play a variety of private clubs.
Good time swith friend
We had a blast even that I lost few dollars.
Great course cold water everywhere
Great shape for hot summer conditions
Played mid-day round today under hot Texas sun but had a great time. Found course in great shape plus the pace of play was quick, less than four hours. Friendly staff gave water at start and refreshment carts making timely rounds kept us hydrated. Much appreciated!! Blackhorse Golf Club remains a great golfing choice just as I remember 15 years ago when I played the course last. Bill G
Best deal for the money
The North course was in great condition, they have let the rough grow up a little so you were penalized when missing the fairways. Greens were exceptional for late July.
