BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course

Excellent conditions for the time of year. New white sand in the traps adds to the course appearance and very playable. Green are fast and smooth. Maybe too fast for some of the pin placements, but in all a good day on a good course.

Course in good shape & bunkers are back in good condition after flooding in May. One of best public courses in Houston area!!

I have played this course, Blackhorse North a number of times. It is a very good layout with memorable holes. Green were in good shape and putted smoothly.

Sand trap;s have been worked on and the white sand was plenty and deep. Fairways were in decent shape with signs of repair from the floods. Course should be in awesome shape come next spring if no more floods. At 49 bucks at 1:00 in the afternoon on a Saturday you could not beat it. Played with my two brothers and a single that joined us. Play was just a hair over 4 hours but if we could have hit more fairways we could have played in less. Rough was thick but not so bad you could not play a shot. Overall a great afternoon.

I never miss an opportunity to play this course. It's always in great condition, and the greens are some of my favorites in the Houston area.

Greens a little slower than usual probably due to all the rain. But they were smooth and both courses were in great shape overall!

Having played golf all around the world a lot, I must say that this is one of those golf courses that has the appeal of what Golf is all about. Lush fairways, maintenance personnel keeping the course in great condition, great range and practice facilities. Today was my first time playing this very challenging course but I will definitively be there again shortly.

Do not take the challenge of this course lightly, this is a course that a beginner may not enjoy much due to its difficulty. Now if you a mid to low handicap get ready for a good test of your golf skills.

Challenge the Black Horse!

Blackhorse North is a fine golf course and I have played it many times in the past. This was my first time in 2016 and it was disappointing. Most important was the rough - it was very high. It made finding the balls very difficult and slowed the pace down considerably. In addition, all bunkers were GUR so the course didn't play as intended. The high rough was more than punishing (even for a single digit handicapper), and it should have been mowed.

Really, playing the two courses at Blackhorse makes for a great weekend, and the North Course is different enough from the South Course to provide a completely different experience. In fact, both nines on the North have a personality all their own, with the front, perhaps, the most interesting of the two sides. With a couple of holes that work their way around a dominant water feature and one of the toughest par 3s you'll ever play, surviving the front is the key to posting a good score. Course ends with a terrific risk-reward par 5 over around a lake that finishes behind the clubhouse.

Bunkers still under massive re-build. Greens smooth but a bit on slow side. Great value for the price we paid. Should notify folks before booking that bunkers are all under repair.

This Golf course is in great shape. I recently relocated from Orlando, FL and was skeptical of the golf course conditions coming from a huge resort golf city. This golf course had phenomenal Green Speed and Conidtions with lush fairways and tee boxes. Overall the golf course is in great shape. The only short time downside is the bunkers are GUR until refinished after the floods they had here. The best part of this golf course is the staff! From the person that checked me in, to the starter, to the staff at the bar everyone is extremely customer service oriented and friendly. This will be my go to course in the area!

Sand traps are still under repair, and would like more distance markers on the course. Overall a terrific place.

Great course layout and greens in fantastic condition. Sadly (or thankfully) all bunkers/sand-traps are GUR because the course was completely flooded out in May/June. Only the bunkers show the damage so well done green staff to recover all other elements of the course. As such at $95pp it's pricey.

Look forward to play again when fully recovered.

Greens roll great fun layout good shape

What an enjoyable round! Wasn't sure what to expect given the recent flooding but it was obvious this is a course that excels when times are tough. This course was immaculate to say the least. Greens were perfect; fairways as well. Although it was not crowded, there was a beverage cart still making rounds. Some courses will cut this position out of their budget to save money on slower days. I commend black horse for providing the same experience no matter what day it is.

A real challenge, long and tough but extremely fair, greens perfect and fast, fairways wide and fair, no need to roll just hit it as it lies, always a great day at this course, never a wait. Will be back again and again.

Course was in general in good condition except for traps which were damaged by devastating rains in Texas. Great course to play even in present condition. Conditions will improve when traps are repairs in July/ August and grass improves in flooded areas. Pace of play was very good.

The course wasn't too difficult, the range and chipping/putting greens were nice however $8 for a small bucket of balls was steep. I was expecting free range balls at a course that considered itself to be nice however that was not the case. The conditions were sub par but that could be attributed to the recent flooding. Additionally it was way too crowded for my liking, if it were a nice weekend afternoon I would expect it to be packed but a Thursday at noon? Each hole had 2-3 pairings on it and it was way too overcrowded. Staff was very friendly however I will not be coming back due to the overcrowding problem.

Had a tee time at 11:20 but showed up early since something showed in agenda earlier than expected. Not much guys on the course, marshall accepted I could start about 90 min earlier. Course still in great shape despite recent downpours. Only bunkers were unplayable. I love the place, nice range, always very friendly staff. Played there 4 times but would definitely recommend it.
