BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Blackhorse North Course
Fantastically stocked Pro-Shop, friendly staff and a better than average course.
Course was in great shape for late July
Excellent course, fairways were in great shape, lots of water and bunkers, and greens were pretty large with lots of undulation. The course was busy but the marshal did his best to move groups along. I love playing this course and Golf Now had a great rate. I'll play this course again.
Great course best in west houston
Being new I am playing lots of different courses to see if any are worth joining
Course is in great condition layout only goes close to three houses else it's just green!
Back 9 suited to grip and rip, front 9 a bit more accuracy and shot making
A good challenge off the blue
Drinks even tho it was quiet half way open and practice facilities as good as I have seen coming from Dubai standards
Would consider joining as two courses but golf now provides better opportunities for players who can't play min once a week else it looks a great club to join
Top 3 in Houston Area, No Argument
This course is everything you would imagine from the road. The people were nice, the starter was helpful, the cart "girls" were friendly and accessible on multiple holes. Our cart was mistakenly taken to the south course by another golfer. (Pretty funny, hope he got the bag I turned into the clubhouse that he left) The course could be really long if played from the tips. There isn't much trouble to get into off the tee. I missed a few fairways and had some great shots in. The carts have USB ports. Not sure if I saw a Marshall....but the pace of play was great. I can't wait to play the South course.
Great condition
Great course conditions. Greens were slightly slow, but in good condition. Fairways were in good condition, overall great course.
Won't ever play here again
Don't get me wrong I love playing this course. Conditions are one of the best on this side of town. The staff pushed my over too far this time. The majority of this staff needs an education on how to treat people. They would rather nickel and dime you than rather see you come back. I've played here a bit and each staff member treat you like they've never seen you before.
Great course and close to home.
I love this course and the best thing it is close to home.
Excellent layout
This was my first time to play the north course and it was a good time. The lay out was tough but fair. The course was in excellent shape tee box to green. The only complaint that I had was that there was not enough yard markings on the course and there was no gps on the carts. I have played less expensive courses than black horse that had gps ion the carts. Overall it was a nice course and I will play it again.
Blackhorse
have lived on this course for 12+ years and never played it. not sure what all the fuss is other than "status" but it's a good course and convenient to me. Staff was very friendly and helpful on the 16th although I will say that I went back on 4-18 late afternoon and the older gent in the pro shop was a total jerk, I almost left because of him. Greens are good, tee boxes are ok, the layout of holes in my opinion is awesome, cart paths are excellent. Overall a good course but really nothing to write home about nor is it worth paying more than $69 to play. I've played a couple of other courses that are just as nice if not better close by for $34 and well worth it.
Always tough
Good course with lots of deep and very soft bunkers. No Marshall though, which would have been nice to control some very rude jerks who yelled at us the minute they got on the tee box and then drove past us without asking permission. We were not playing slow but they had their agenda and made us feel uncomfortable.
Blackhorse Review
The greens were not in very good shape on the North Course. Directions to each hole were not clearly marked.... you had to do a lot of back tracking. Greens are hidden behind mogals and cart paths... not that I'm afraid to be challenged... but clearly couldn't get a sense of direction from the tee-box..... Especially on the second half of the "North" course. I'm thinking in Houston, as a general rule, golf courses are poorly designed and not well kept. This golf course was truly over priced even on Golf-Now.
The pro staff said the North Course was the better of the two courses.... I would hate to see the "South" Course. Pro-shop was extremely nice. Half-way house was a nice Set-up.
I have been playing golf for 40 years and find the Houston area has POORLY kept golf courses. Normally do not use Golf-now.... but glad I did.... would have been truly upset spending $80.00 for this Course... I still thought it was over priced at $59.00.
BlackHorse North
Nice layout; greens were in very good shape (faster than other public courses). In the 11:40 tee time, the other, single golfer did not show, so I was alone for the first five holes. The Starter should not never allow a lone golfer to play, knowing there was a foursome ahead and behind me. Luckily, I joined another single golfer and we played the remaining holes together, and enjoyed the experience of not being alone.
Eight bucks for a small bucket of range balls! Should have been no more than five bucks.
Except for the slow pace of play, the over-priced practice range balls, the course is worthy of your time. I will likely return to play the South course.
Greens
The greens were not in the best shape. They had weeds and were slow. Very surprising for this course and the cost. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Sand traps were not maintained very well. This course is usually in better shape than I saw yesterday.
