About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

One of the best in the Houston area
Played the North course for the first time. Course is still recovering from the flooding that occurred less then 2 weeks ago. But it was still in great shape, the greens were very plush but a little slow for their standards and would grab a pitch shot very quickly. I figured they will graudually speed them up as the course recovers. A few of the traps were still washed out, but a majority of them were perfect. You can tell they are working hard to get back to their high standards. I preferred the layout if the North course over the much more hyped South course, great track that isnt overly penal but will defintely challenge a good player. High recommend to play.
Blackhorse South - very challenging
Blackhorse south - nice layout, overall good condition for the time of the year. Staff very friendly. The south course is very demanding - fairly tight - most holes tree-lined with narrow fairways. Very firm fairways so course plays shorter than yardage indicated. Plenty of bunkers - overall, very challenging. A bit pricey - but a overall a good course worth playing.

Enjoyable round
Good course, especially when one can get a "hot deal". Fairways were quite hard due to the dry weather. Green were also a bit hard, though the ball would stay up - fairly quick and true. The layout was a bit odd, zig-zagging around the practice area and back and forth across Fry Road - need to keep a keen eye on the signage.

Surprisingly good
First time I played North Course after having played the South a number of times. The fairways, bunkers and greens were all good. And the course plays out in front of you - what you see is what you get. I actually preferred it to the South because there are some holes there that don't make sense. I will play the North again.

very challenging but fair. fairways were in the typical early spring condition, but coming along. the greens were exceptional. blackhorse is a class operation.

The south course
Played the South Course and can not wait to play it again. An absolute wonderful layout. Great value. Course is in good shape for this time of the year. Pace of play was good. Played thru a group on #2 and it was pretty much smooth sailing to the club house. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Fun Course
The front nine is much more difficult than the back -- more water on the front and much more narrow. The greens were in very good shape, but the fairway and rough were dry and burned out. The traps are big and often very deep. The sand is very uniform, but many of the players who get into the traps don't rake their footprints. Pace of play was fast, which we like. Overall, a challenging course that should be much more fun to play when not dried out. Expensive.

Amazing
This course is great. Really well maintained and not too busy. Challenging holes but lots of easy tee shots. One of my favorite courses around the Houston area.
Very nice course
Very nice condition wise and layout. It's somewhat challenging with the placement of bunkers and doglegs. Very well designed course. The course is in great shape with lush fairways and greens were rolling very true with a great pace. The bar afterwards is a perfect place for a meal and a few beers.
However, it's probably not worth the regular price ($80-$100) but if you can find an online deal it's well worth it.

Best Public/Semi Public Course in Houston Area
Blackhorse Golf Club delivers a great experience time after time. Course is always in great condition with true greens. Along with the clubhouse staff and restaurant/bar staff they provide an excellent all around experience!

Great With a Discount Coupon
Not worth (and most high dollar courses aren't) the normal prices asked -- weekday rate would be acceptable for weekend play -- otherwise, a coupon or special offer is required for me to consider this course

Best bunkers in the area
The bunkers are by far the best bunkers in the Houston area, fairways and greens were also really nice, pace of play during the first 9 holes was terrible due to a tournament back 9 were completely empty
