BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Blackhorse North
Excellent. The staff were all wonderful. Course was well conditioned. Sand in most bunkers was actually too soft. Otherwise the course was in awesome shape. I know it was Master's Sunday and maybe it showed. We teed off in the middle of the afternoon and flew around the course undisturbed in 3 hours 15 minutes.
Good value @ $40
Played on a hot deal @ $40 and that's about right for this course. I'm not sure how they command $90 on the weekend. I mean the course is in good shape but it's not particularly interesting or challenging. The pace of play was terrible, they were sending out twosomes and singles on a Saturday! It was backed up. Overall a solid course for $40-50 but not $100
Perfect Day
This was a perfect day of golf and good time had by all... The greens are fast and the fairway perfectly groomed..
Great course
Great course and layout. $69.00 on Golfnow during the week I think is a little steep but it was in pristine condition. Greens where slower than normal.
Great course
Great course The greens were In excellent condition for this time of year. Layout was interesting. Tough but fair. Definitely would play here again.
Great course. Just a couple of personal issues.
Course is in great shape. A very well designed and challenging course. I would have rated this course even higher is I hadn't had a couple of issues. First, and most importantly, I walked the 15th hole. My cart started to run out of juice around 12 and I called the club house while on the number 12 green which is very close to the clubhouse. They said they would get a new cart right out. On number 15 it died for good. I called again, unloaded my cart and finished the hole walking. As a member of the cart crew arrived with my cart at the 15 green, he just stopped the cart and started walking back the the clubhouse. I asked if he wasn't notified the by the clubhouse earlier and he mumbled, "Oh yeah, we brought one out but the group behind you called with the same problem so they got the cart. Sorry 'bout that".
My only other issue with this course is the limited distance markers. A course of this caliber should have gps on the golf carts. It's 2015. I play much lesser courses that provide this and a course this difficult holding a price tag that it does, they should have this feature.
Great shape right now!
Condition and speed of the greens on both the North and the South courses are excellent. I look for this discount first before I consider another course in Cypress. My favorite by far!
Blackhorse North Course - Great Pace of Play
Pace of play was unmatched in my public course experience in Houston. We (3 ppl) played in about 4 hours and only had to wait a few times. It was not the best day (cloudy, cool) and early in the season so the course was not in prime condition, but considering the time of year it was very nice. I am excited about playing it in prime conditions. Overall, very good course - I would highly recommend.
Smooth, fast greens
Considering it is winter, the course is in very good condition, especially the greens. I played the North course. The front 9 has a interesting variety of holes. The back 9 is your typical Houston course, totally flat, quite a few lakes and trees along the outer part of the course. I will return.
Well maintained
Course was in very good shape for this time of year. Greens were particularly well cared for and true.
Always a 10.
Black horse is always in perfect shape. The people are friendly ans the pro shop is packed with merchandise. What a great experience.
Great Golf
Well the weather was great till the turn then it got cold. The course is great shape during the winter far better then any place I have played. Only problem is the last two times out my cart has died. That is the only downer!
Awesome Golf Course
For being early February, this course is VERY well maintained. The fairways were greener that many courses are during prime golf weather. Pretty challenging course overall. I am definitely coming back to play here as often as possible.
Best of Winter Course
I have been playing between Louisiana and Texas and by far Black Horse is in the best winter play condition
South Course
This was my first time and we played the Blue tees. However they had them set at the balck tee marks. We had some par 4's playing 430 and higher. Overall great course great layout and very challenging. Approach shots are forgiving however out the box it is not forgiving either trees water or bunkers so you have to be accurate out the box. Great course and will paly again.
north course
Considering the time of year the course was in good condition. The tee boxes were well kept however the greens although rolling well were very slow.the bunkers could also do with a little more send on the bottoms as they were thin and hard under the surface. But a good chaining course for the long hitters.
The course has great fairways for this time of year
Great place to place to play... Price was super. The course condition was unbelievable for this time of year... Hats off to the staff...
couse was nice
disappointed we did not know it was cart path only until after we paid...it was ALOT of walking and slow play...we felt the course was dry and it was not necessary to limit the carts the ranger was no where in sight for all 18 holes and we had people hitting up on us, when we had np place to go...we were in play with the 4some ahead of us
great
Had a great time. My enjoyed his round. We will play again.
Great clubhouse and driving range proximity.
Course in great condition, despite winter conditions.
