BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

Good Time
Course, staff and food was great. This was the second time I played here and the golfing experience was great.
Sunday afternoon
Course need to put yardstick marker, very hard to find the yard marker some hole have some don't . The old man starter not friendly at all.
Nice course.
I really liked the course, I was expecting it be very difficult.
Greens
The greens were in pour shape for this time of the year. It looked like they were plugged and then never rolled. Real bumpy!
North Course Review
Course was in excellent shape. The greens had been aerated about a month ago, they were filled in nicely. Greens were very soft and receptive. They did seem to put all of the pins right on a ridge, the speed of the greens weren't ridiculous so it wasn't that much of a problem. Fairways and tee boxes were all in fantastic shape. Pretty quiet course even with a fair amount of traffic, would definitely go play this course again.
Good Course For The Money
Overall the course is worth the money. The condition is better than average and fun to play. For our day the greens had been just punched on the north course and the south course punched about 2.5 weeks back. We decided as a result to play the south. Even then the greens had yet to fully fill in, and the greens needed to be rolled. Thus they didn't roll true but that is expected this time of year as everyone aerates. The bunkers due to the rain the day before had yet to be raked and repaired, and we didn't see anyone out doing so. The sides had some serious wash out. A few bunkers around the greens were actually under repair. Again we saw no one the entire round working on them. That is a shame really.
The fairways were top notch, not too long and not too short. The rough is not extremely long making a miss off the fairway forgiving. It was probably around 1-1/4 inch long.
My only complaint is the staff in the pro-shop and the dinning room are not very friendly. When answering questions you get the feeling they would rather you leave them alone.
The locker room is nice, well kept, and on par with some private clubs.
Tought greens
Played North course yesterday. I have not played this course in quite a while. Was extremely hot buit made it through. lol Not an easy course, pretty challenging. The greens were tough (being aerated didn't help) but tough pin locations. With our golf now rate got small bucket of balls as well. Overall good tough course!
Greens suck
Do not waste your money, ton of sand on greens and still have punch holes from back in June, now they are going to punch the south greens!!!
Black Horse Review 8-22
Course was good. Aireated the greens but didn't interfere with play.
Customer service needs major work
I have played the course multiple times before and even though they punched the greens the conditions were good especially for $59. I booked the tee time for 8:50 am and upon arriving at the course the individual in the pro shop told me it was at 8:30 which would have made us 1 minute late. I showed him the confirmation email from golf now with the 8:50 am tee time and he still wouldn't admit there was a scheduling error. After about 3 minutes of arguing he finally changed it, but not apologizing for the problem. We then get to the tee box and the starter can't even find our name on the tee sheet even though the pro shop said we were to tee off at 8:30. We started to explain what happened and the starter pointed to the group on the green stating they were the 8:30 am tee time. It was then that we realized, and the starter definitely realized, they had screwed the booking up. I understand there are issues and problems like anywhere else, but not one person apologized for the inconvenience or the rude service by the individual in the pro shop. I had my confirmation number and everything from golf now and they still didn't believe our tee time was for 8:50. I have no problem recommending this course to anyone, but until I see something change I think I can find a few courses in the area to recommend before Black Horse.
Excellent experience!
Great value for a well maintained course. Will play again soon.
Great value with discount!
The course was in excellent condition overall - however a couple of the tee boxes were sparse. Will be back for more!
Full tilt boogie
Both courses are exceptional & expensive enough to not get over-played. Golf Now coupon is great! Course is long when factoring wind which can be subtle below the trees, so pay attention to flags. Local knowledge is helpful as to club selection & best places to miss. Greens are receptive, fringes get watered, so higher ball flight over the bump & run is desired. Beautiful scenery, manicured throughout. Practice facility, staff & 19th hole all 1st class. Overall great place as long as serious golf is on menu- otherwise it'll eat your lunch!
Nice Greens
For the heat we have been having the course is holding up well.
Greens are slower then normal, but run true
the fairways are good
A great course to play
Great Course!
Beautiful course in great shape. Not sure if I would pay full price, but the golfnow price is well worth it.
Slow
Only saw the cart girl once for 18 holes and it was on the first hole....100 degrees outside and they can't pay some girl to drive a cart and serve drinks and snacks. Couse was nice but the pace of play is always slow as the tee times are every five minutes so they can pack the place. The guys that were playing in front of us didn't even have a tee time but the pro shop told the to just go because it's wide open.
Well Rounded Course
This course is good for all levels of players. It is challenging yet still leaves room for so a novice doesn't get too frustrated.
Great layout and fun for all abilities.
The North course at Blackhorse is a fun and challenging layout and the course is in great condition. The fairways are almost perfect and the greens, while hard and fast, are still receptive and roll true. The white tees allow the high handicapper more room to land tee shots and shorter approaches while the blue or black tees prove quite challenging to the more experienced and seasoned players. The GolfNow rates allow the frugile golfer to play one of the best courses in the city. Well done Blackhorse!
Oustanding condition
First time on the course in 2 years.
it's in outstanding condition and very challenging.

buzz
