BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

north course
Considering the time of year the course was in good condition. The tee boxes were well kept however the greens although rolling well were very slow.the bunkers could also do with a little more send on the bottoms as they were thin and hard under the surface. But a good chaining course for the long hitters.
The course has great fairways for this time of year
Great place to place to play... Price was super. The course condition was unbelievable for this time of year... Hats off to the staff...
couse was nice
disappointed we did not know it was cart path only until after we paid...it was ALOT of walking and slow play...we felt the course was dry and it was not necessary to limit the carts the ranger was no where in sight for all 18 holes and we had people hitting up on us, when we had np place to go...we were in play with the 4some ahead of us
great
Had a great time. My enjoyed his round. We will play again.
Great clubhouse and driving range proximity.
Course in great condition, despite winter conditions.
First tee time but still had to wait
I had the first tee time and went off by myself as a single. The only thing that slowed me down was waiting for maintenance staff of at least half of the holes it seemed. They would waive me through if they saw me, but weren't very attentive mostly. Still the course was in great shape and I really enjoy the scenery.
The Black Horse is a Beauty
Upon arrival I was greeted with a warm welcome and was asked If I needed help with my golf bag. The young man placed the bag in the cart for me. I walked in to a well stocked pro shop. Best pro shop I seen in a long time. My tee time was moved up and play was fast. Restrooms clean. Cart girl every 6 holes. Bunkers well kept. Fairways and rough well cut. Overall a great experience.
South Course
I enjoying playing the course, I was suppose to play on the north course but I ask the marshal could he pair me with another group or a single because I don't like to play by myself and he said I can play with a threesome on the south course and I did. THANKS'
Pretty pretty
Fast greens. Black hole bunkers. Fairways immaculate.
This course has fantastic greens
The greens on the course are challenging and in great shape
Excellent Course
Greens Rolling Perfect around this season.. Pace of play was good..
One of the Best Public Courses in Houston
Fun course to play and always in great condition. Only negative was that there was a tournament on the course which made for a 5 hour round and had to finish the last hole in darkness.
Blackhorse Rd 2
The North course is more beautiful, but the South has it own unique holes. Always relaxing when golfing around the Blackhorse Area in Cypress, TX
Very good course
Blackhorse North - excellent, challenging layout. Course condition was very good. Pace of play was a bit slow - Marshall spoke to the laggard group on ~ hole 14 and things sped up considerably - but there should have been more monitoring on pace of play earlier. However, we did complete the round in ~ 4 hrs 20 minutes on a Sunday morning, so not horrible. Overall, one of the best courses in the Houston area that is open to the public. Although a bit pricey, I would strongly recommend this course.
One of Houston's best daily fees
Together with the South Course, Blackhorse Golf Club is undoubtedly one of the best daily fee venues in the Houston area. Conditioning, interest, clubhouse, food -- they all rank well. Best of all, the two courses -- though done by the same design team from Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy -- are very different. Some players prefer one or the other, but I like them both, depending on my mood. The North Course has a really good stretch of holes on the front nine that works around a lake and creek; and a terrific finishing stretch, including a good risk-reward par 5 that finishes below the upper deck of the clubhouse.
Beautiful Golf Course
I always heard great things about Blackhorse and finally got the Luxury to play here. Beautiful area to relax, I can see why people think highly of this course now.
quick play but lots of mosquitoes
course was in very good condition - greens rolled fairly fast & true. I was paired up in a threesome - we got in 18 in ~3 hrs. Mosquitoes were a little thick at times - next time I'll be more prepared with bug spray.
Excellent value
Very good course and club. Strongly recommend playing.
Nice course!
Great course, nice folks, great parking and clubhouse.
Course was long and wide, nice grass, no issue with fairways...Grass was a little long in some places....but very nice and will go back many times! I loved it!
