BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
About
The environmentally friendly Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress was designed by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, who teamed to build one of the best 36-hole, daily-fee facilities in Texas. Designed to maximize the natural setting, this beautiful complex is a perfect setting for golf with its huge variety of oaks, elms, and wetlands that provide habitat for a wide variety of bird species. Holes 4-6 on Blackhorse Golf Club's North Course generally get the best of high handicappers. Holes 4 and 5 route through massive trees and expansive wetlands, both playing over 400 yards. No. 6 is the North Course's signature: a 180-yarder that tees over the bend of the creek to an elevated green enhanced with railroad ties and framed by bunkers.

not worth the drive or the price
The conditions are decent, but not what i expected at the price they are charging. Drove from friendswood because online showed this was top 10 course in Houston Area. I do not agree with that assessment after playing here. Pace of play was very slow on the front, a little better on the back but the twosome in front of us was not moving along. Marshall just said it was backed up and didnt offer any help. There was no one in front of the twosome for miles. The greens were nice, fairway decent, but rough wasnt manicured at all, and just wasnt that nice overall. I doubt I will play this course again.
Can’t beat it
Twilight prices, course in excellent shape, no Marshall’s on our butts, enjoyed it, clubhouse staff friendly….only saw cart girl one time…saved us $
A little above average
This was the second time playing this course. Greens are really nice. Bunkers were raked which many courses in the area are struggling. Fairways could use more grass in my opinion.
Layout was nice and fair. It's a little pricey but if you really enjoy nice greens, you'll like how they roll. I would recommend you play it for sure.
Course is very Nice
Course is very nice and the price is normal, only the range ball is not included and expensive.
Needs Attention
The round was fine and the course layout fun and mildly challenging. The tee boxes need attention and many areas in the rough have lost any grass and topsoil. Course looks to a bit off the mend. The experience could be so much better with proper maintenance and agronomy. Also, letting 5 and 6 some’s is just ridiculous. I don’t know what goes through people’s minds. This game and the other golfers should not be disrespected.
On the pricy side but...
I played blackhorse south about a year ago paying this high price and was very upset as there were 4 greens which were completely unplayable, the remainder were average. the fact that the staff did not mention this when a non-member was paying well over $100 dollars was not what I would expect. I have not been back to blackhorse till this weekend hearing from others the conditions were good. Conditions much better but a high price
Sloppy fun in the sun
Massive rain/tornados the day before, so we weren't expecting much beyond a swampy round of golf. Enjoyed the round a lot, despite the conditions. We were able to start 30 minutes early, beverage cart came through twice, sun came out and the temp nice and cool. Will return when the conditions are a bit dryer.
Great course and conditions!
The overall rating is a 5 star.
Some of the bunkers were not raked and a couple were washed out…
Overall great experience!
Great shape
Course is in great shape compared to others that are very dry after may weeks without rain
Beautiful Course
The staff is friendly and the courses (North and South) are beautiful. Well laid out with plenty of space
A lot of money but not worth it…..
We were fortunate that we managed to get a Golf Now deal for the North Course which is normally well over $100 at weekends. While we were relatively happy on a value for money basis paying under half of the normal green fee, that is where happiness stopped. The course looked like it could do with some water as many parts of the course were burned up and some areas even lacked grass. The layout of the north course is average but the 5 holes across the road certainly add to the overall experience and are probably the best on the course. While we enjoyed it, albeit very slow, it’s not worth the full green fee in its current condition.
