About
The South Course at BlackHorse is known for the sand quarry that was ingeniously worked into the layout by the design team. Particularly on the back side, the wetlands and sand features come into play prominently and create a totally unique setting for golf.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 290 west to the Spring Cypress exit. Go south (left) under Hwy. 290 to Old Hempstead Hwy. Turn right and drive .5 mile. Turn left on House & Hahl Rd. Then left on Mound Rd. and right on Fry Rd. The entrance is on the right.

Narrow fairways
Watering this course have made the difference among many other courses where dry surfaces had made it hard to enjoy a good round
Great track
Course in great shape despite weather conditions. Golf carts are premium. Cart girl readily available. Free water bottles. Frank in the proshop was super accommodating! Definitely be back when in town to try out the north course.
Great course
Played the South course back to back weekends. Great experience. Plenty of water stations throughout the course. Staff is always friendly. Greens were fast in the afternoon as they dried out
Overpriced
Overall, a good experience. Course is however in mediocre condition, with unmowed fairways and greens very recently punched. Charging $136 for a round is not right.
Great course for evening rate.
I would not play this course for the $150 rate, but sign me up any day for the evening discount of $75.
Pace of play was bad
Greens and fairways were nice and well kept. Pace of play was bad. Which is not inherently the courses fault but it is an expansive layout and at times difficult to navigate to next hole. I had a tee time of 5:20 and was only able to play 14 holes before sunset and the carts screens yelling at me to return the cart to the clubhouse. Staff was mediocre, at best, and sometimes a bit rude and cold. Carts are nice, range is solid as well as chipping and putting greens.
Hole 17 closed
Unable to play hole 17 because it is closed. Also, it has a lot of restrictions on a cart path. Once you enter the restrictions area, it only allows slow backup. And many places don’t allow carts.. not suitable for beginners.
Great experience
This course is amazing. It is kept in good condition. The holes are challenging but fun
this is a very nice course in the area, fairway and greens are all in excellent condition. pace of play was pretty good. staff very friendly and helpful. will play this course again for sure.
Exceptional conditions
This course has some of the best conditions I’ve ever played! I’ve played both the north and south courses. Everything is well kept and maintained. It’s a fun time! There’s also some nice scenery! (More so on the south course) (my favorite hole in either course is 17 on the south course, beautiful par 3).
The food is really good as well! I recommend the burger.
I will definitely be back!
Where’s the Marshall!?
Never saw a Marshall once to break up the 8-some in front of us. And then the cart died on the back nine and nobody was answering the pro shop phone so I had to walk all the way back to get a new cart! And only saw the cart girl once in 4 1/2 almost 5 hours on a hot summer day!?
