BlackHorse Golf Club - South Course
About
The South Course at BlackHorse is known for the sand quarry that was ingeniously worked into the layout by the design team. Particularly on the back side, the wetlands and sand features come into play prominently and create a totally unique setting for golf.
Getting there : Take Hwy. 290 west to the Spring Cypress exit. Go south (left) under Hwy. 290 to Old Hempstead Hwy. Turn right and drive .5 mile. Turn left on House & Hahl Rd. Then left on Mound Rd. and right on Fry Rd. The entrance is on the right.

South course is better than north
I’ve played the north course several times, and finally played the south course, and was very impressed. The greens were excellent shape and the layout has an assortment of holes in the back 9 is very scenic.
Difficult greens
Best shape in years ...The rain helped this course a bunch...Greens in excellent shape...Definitely coming back
Wet course
We were supposed to play the South Course but only 10 holes were opened…They didn’t tell us ahead of time. We played the North Course instead…
Blackhorse South
Course is in great condition. Some holes are challenging. Several holes a car path only
Beautiful course
Loved playing this beautiful course! So well
Maintained and so much room on the fairways !
Way to slow
5 and a half hour round. Loved the course, only thing that wasn’t up to standards were the tee boxes. We played the north course.
I made a1:50 tee time. Black Horse sent me a reminder of a a 1:40 tee time and when we got there the pro shop told me I had a 1:20 tee time I showed them me emails and they got us out.
Average
Played Black Horse South on April 16. Most tee boxes were not flat and in some cases were dirt or long grass. Fairways were mostly decent. Greens were hard and fairly slow.
Good value
The Hot Deal prices are about as high as I’d pay to play here because i don’t believe any course thats the average Joe can play should be above $100 green fee. But that’s just me….with that said, for the $44 i paid for this tee time, it was absolutely worth the money and time spent. I like how challenging the course is with making you keep it in the short grass if you want to be putting for par at least.
Average course but pricey
Average layout and conditions. Greens were nice but rest of course not worth the higher fees charged. Good service.
awesome conditions for this time of the Year
I play all around town. this was my 3rd round this week. The course was in much better condition than some other top courses in town ( by Humble TX)
I would highly recommend Blackhorse if you can get a deal on the tee time. I'm just not able to drop what their rack rate is. Great course and friendly workers.
