The Quarry Golf Club
About
Located just minutes from downtown Canton, The Quarry Golf Club was built on the site of an old quarry that dates back to the 1800s. The location provides a dramatic landscape featuring cliffs that stretch over 100 feet, meandering streams, and deep-water lakes. The golf course utilizes the natural diverse features of the terrain, which lends each hole a unique character. Despite being an old quarry, there are many mature trees that line the fairways. Rocky outcroppings and native grasses border the gently undulating greens and water also comes into play frequently. It's a golf course that demands accuracy and you may find that you need to use all the clubs in your bag. The tee shots can seem intimidating initially but the landing areas are more generous than they appear.

Slow Play
The course layout is nice. No Rangers out on the course to keep play moving along. They send messages on the GPS but no enforcement. Six hours a round is common
Bring scuffed balls
Beautiful course but not always fair... One little error can really penalize you severely. If you have trouble playing uneven lies you may not do well. Even though it is a tough course, it was still fun to play.
My experience
Played the course today with my nephew and brother. It was a little wet, but no complaints. Had a great time on the course. A little pricey compared to other area courses, but not out of line. My only negative take away was the man that checked us in at the pro shop. His first comment was "Is that your black Ram in the handicap spot." I answered yes. And he then asked if I had a handicap placard. I acknowledged that I did. He looked at me as if he didn't believe me, but continued to check us in. My thoughts were, why would you greet someone like that. My brother and nephew are from out of town and I wanted them to enjoy a nice local course. We commented among ourselves how grumpy and unprofessional the man was. I have MS and Parkinson's and rightfully have the placard to use. If you play there, if possible try to avoid the older man with grayish hair. Or, maybe he will treat you better because you don't need to use a handicap spot.
Great character and beautiful views
The Quarry is a solid golf course with the perfect amount of challenge. The course has many elevations to it and creates several unique holes. Overall a solid place to play. My only complaints would be put sand in the bunkers or make grass bunker, have drinking water at few holes the water that comes out of the course restrooms was brown water , a very nice gesture they give you a bottle of water witch you drink in less an a minute. i understand no carts on par 3 but on some no carts to many hills for a handicap person, or a older person.
No Longer the Country Club Feel
The course, as it has always been, is immaculate. It is the most unique, well maintained public course in the area. The young people working the bag drop are very friendly. Good news over. The pro shop staff are rude. I walked into the pro shop to check in and was greeted with silence. There were two gentlemen working the pro shop, and they were tied for grumpiest man in Ohio. The only thing one grump asked was, “Are you going to be using the driving range?” When I said I was, he informed me there is now a $7 fee per player for the range. The complimentary range balls, which used to add to the country club experience, are a thing of the past. As we were holing our putts on 9, the same grump had made his way outside and was waiving a group to number 10! Worse, the foursome was playing out of just two bags. Our back 9 worse very slow. Not our favorite place to play in Stark County any longer.
A beautiful course, but, pack a lunch
Course is amazing, no 2 holes are alike. I don't like a few holes, due to unreasonable difficulty ( #13 and 14).. Greens and fairways are pristine, greens extremely fast.
Now, for the downside, it took over 5 hours on a Thursday to play. No ranger was evident. Course is probably too tough for many golfers. They should find somewhere else to play. When I have to wait over 10 minutes between shots, my concentration starts to fade.
If you can tolerate the slow play, by all means play this course. I would hate to see how long a weekend round would take.
not playing here again
to steep and carts are annoying because they are limited where they can travel. lots of steep walking. and ball losing
Fun
Other than the bunkers which others have mentioned the course was a blast to play. Great condition and very friendly staff.
Not bad experience
Course was in good condition for the heat. Multiple bunkers left with dirt and rocks, no sand. Keep it on the grass and you’re fine obviously. Really hoping they just havent gotten to it yet this year.
Don’t bother with the range, 7 bucks to try to sift through 100 balls to find one with a few dimples left or one without a cut. Definitely not worth paying for.
Course was very good,
Range balls worst I've ever seen
Great as always
This course does not seem to get much play through the week. If you can go in the morning you can get around in about 3.5 to 4 hours. Course is a great layout and conditions are excellent. There are a few spots on the course where there are very wet soggy conditions. these are well marked and you need to avoid them. The greens were running at least 10 and you dare not be above the hole. Overall a great layout and alot of fun.
Great
Great course for the money. Fairways and greens in great shape would recommend.
Great, Challenging Course
Very nice course layout. For Ohio, the scenery is second to none. Each shot is challenging to the average golfer. Must play this course at least once. There is a good chance, you will hit every club in your bag.
one of the best public courses in Ohio
Very nice course, look forward to playing it again.
Overall Wonderful...except the sandtraps
The course was in great condition with the one exception noted below. The staff was very friendly and welcomed long. We were able To play 18 in 4 hours. My only issue with the course was the sand traps. There was standing water in some of them, but that was understandable given the recent rains. But my biggest issue was that the traps we’re not sand, bit a mix of sand and small pebbles, like gravel.
This course remains one of my favorites, even if it kicks my behind each time I play. Just stay out of the traps.
Rainy day wet conditions
Despite very wet conditions- cart path only travel. Great layout demanding course. Course played long - greens had an excellent consistent pace. I’d definitely recommend the course - I’m looking forward to returning to play in dry conditions.
Great character and beautiful views
The course was in good shape and the greens were excellent. I plan on playing again soon.
You have to play this course
Put it on your bucket list of courses to play! I took 2 of my sons and a friend and we all remarked that we have to play it again. Staff was very friendly and courteous. The food in the grill and service was excellent!
Challenging and Beautiful!
The course is a great test of golf. A well designed layout with beautiful views that make you feel as you escaped from Ohio. The grounds crew was working hard at keeping the course in it’s premier conditions. Worth the money. Be sure to dine at the clubhouse patio overlooking the 18th green where they serve delicious food and your favorite beverages.
Nice course but the service is terrible. The food is sub-par and the driving range is a joke. Looks like they pulled the balls out the ponds.
