The Quarry Golf Club
About
Located just minutes from downtown Canton, The Quarry Golf Club was built on the site of an old quarry that dates back to the 1800s. The location provides a dramatic landscape featuring cliffs that stretch over 100 feet, meandering streams, and deep-water lakes. The golf course utilizes the natural diverse features of the terrain, which lends each hole a unique character. Despite being an old quarry, there are many mature trees that line the fairways. Rocky outcroppings and native grasses border the gently undulating greens and water also comes into play frequently. It's a golf course that demands accuracy and you may find that you need to use all the clubs in your bag. The tee shots can seem intimidating initially but the landing areas are more generous than they appear.

Wet and Wonderful !!!
Played Quarry for the first time with 3 other gentlemen. Course was extremely wet from either rain or watering by course superintendent. Course was very playable with lift, clean, and place. Rough was lush as usual. But the surprising thing was the greens were very smooth and enjoyable to play on. Great layout with no two holes the same. I will be playing this course again real soon.
This course is a Ball Buster
Positive: Course is very challenging, many holes are target golf. Need to leave the driver in the bag on several holes.
Probably easier after you play it a few times, but this course has several holes that are extremely difficult playing for the first time.
Negative: Many blind shots, have to play a few times to know the lay of the land, etc.
Overall, a nice track. Looking forward to playing again so I know where to hit the ball.
Challenging but fair course
We played on a weekday afternoon and never saw another player within a few holes of us. I have played this course before in charity scrambles, but it was a great challenge to play one's own ball. Lots of altitude changes; and long and short par 3's and 4's. Course was in near perfect condition, though some of the bunkers needed more sand. I imagine a low handicap, long hitter would appreciate the length from the tips. We were fine playing 6300 from the blues.
Phenomenal
Absolute Northeast Ohio hidden gem. Got a Hot Deal and used some bonus rounds to get $20 off. Well worth the hour and a half drive from Cleveland and I will be back. Truly stunning elevation changes on the property and every hole keeps you thinking. The Quarry is no doubt in the top 5 public courses in Ohio and way better than Stonewater/Little Mountain. Only downfall was the place of play which ended up about 20 min behind. Really can’t say enough about the course overall, it was a gem.
Mid September Review
The Quarry is one of the best designs around. There are tons of elevation changes, forced carries, bunkers, and water. If you control your ball, you can score decent, fairways are wide and fair. It is easily one of the best designed public golf courses in the area, local architect Brian Huntley's masterpiece.
The conditions were average for a normal course, but below the standard for the Quarry. Hole 15 specifically had ground under repair in the fairway, even thought this is never in play, it seems to always be to soggy for the mowers. Many bunkers are treated as waste bunkers, not the soft sand of normal typical fluffy bunkers, but most green side bunkers were filled with traditional fluffy sand. The greens were okay, not aerated, but did not roll as good as expected.
It is one of the premier public golf courses of the area. Even with lesser than stellar conditions. It is one of the best courses in Ohio. The 19th holes is very nice too.

Best course in Stark County
Played in a league here from when they opened until I retired 2 years ago. Love this course. Challenging but fair. Fairways generously wide for tee shots, but gets tighter towards the greens. From tee to green the course was in top top shape. Best fairways I have played this year. Better then Glenmoor and Firestone North and all the others, and I play a lot.
Difficult terrain, and pin positions on some back to from greens are almost unfair - not for the usual weekend warrior, of which I belong.
Great layout
One of the best layouts. Condition of course 8/10.
Club house is very nice. Restaurant across from club house didn't have much to offer and when we came back around for our replay it was closed.??? Golf carts & GPS were nice. Staff was friendly & courteous.
Will definitely make the 2 hour drive to play again in the future.
Sweetness
One of the best and nicest courses I've played. Love it to death. Great views, great holes and difficulty. Just an all around wonderful course
Beautiful layout. Nothing else like it in Northeast Ohio.
Play smart and you can score. If you haven't played this course , you should. Greens are fantastic. Course itself needs a little more TLC.
Man, in town for business and this course exceeded my expectaions
Booked this on golf now, for about 30 bucks, totally would have paid the 60-70 normal eate for this course if i had to. The fairways were money, the greens were receptive and true. If you are within 30 miles of this course go play it. It was awesome
Wow wow wow!!!
This golf course is an absolute diamond in the rough located in East Canton. Ohio. The elevation changes that were engineered to perfection and the unreal scenic views from pretty much every hole was amazing! Good luck picking a signature hole because every hole seemed more beautiful than the last. The course was in great condition but the absolute only drawback would be the quality of the sand traps, so just stay out of them and you will be fine. The well covered outside patio bar/resaturant overlooking the 18th hole has several TV''s has plenty of space, is well appointed and just perfectly situated. This was such an absolute treat to play here. Couldn't speak highly enough off this incredible gem of a course!!! Well done!
Course condition does not warrant the price
I have played this course four or five times. The last two times including my most recent round was disappointing mainly because of the course conditions. This is an excellent layout which is being neglected. If you do not mind a course that is around 6300 yards (which is what the quarry is from the blue tees) then I recommend you check out ridge top in Medina. The other course that I recommend which is longer from the tips is deer ridge in Belleville Ohio. Both of these courses have private club like conditions and are much more reasonable. I hope they can bring the quarry back to its old levels.
The condition of the course has gone downhill.
I played this course 5-6 years ago with a men's league. I thought it was great and suggested it to 4 couples who play Ohio courses one weekend each summer. We've played the Virtues for the past number of years and decided to try a couple of new courses. I was embarrassed by the condition of the course--especially the sand traps. This is a sign the course is being neglected. It's such a great layout--don't let it deteriorate. I will recommend it to a friend but with an asterisk beside "course condition".
Best Course in the Area!!
I have reviewed The Quarry several times before, the course scenery, design, and enjoyment is the top in Northeast Ohio. It is a must play for every avid golfer, it is a resort style course close to home, great 19th hole, GPS in carts, vistas from all other the place, only a few houses on the course. It is a true golfing atmosphere.
It is unique to Northeast Ohio, not comparable to other courses on the hole, other than the best holes of some of the other top courses in the area, would be an average hole at the Quarry.
This course is for serious golfers, not friendly to beginners or novice players, too many forced carries. It is a difficult course, chances are you will not shot a low score.
I played in May and conditions were perfect, they were still good. Greens were a little bumpier (mind you they were perfect in May,) still better than most courses.
And I noticed more wet spots staked out in the fairway.
