Perfect Day
First trip to Cancun, and I did my homework prior to leaving the US. We decided on this course, and couldn't have been happier. $78 through golfnow was an absolute steal! They had just completed a brand new asphalt cart path prior to our round, which only added to the quality and beauty of the course. The steady breeze made the course feel longer than it was, as we were coming up two clubs short any time the wind was in our face. We only even saw one other group during our entire round. The staff was great, and the snack cart came around every 3 holes. Lunch was fantastic and the view was even better. I tried to buy a souvenir ball at the turn, and they didn't have any. When I completed the round, they had found one and have it to me for free which I thought was very cool. Will play this track again on the next trip for sure.
Even better than when I played 2 yrs ago
Exceptional golf experience for me and my buddies who were in Cancun on a golf trip especially for the rate we paid. The only issue was the hotel pickup which was included in the GolfNow rate. The email address provided to arrange hotel pickup is not valid. (We ended up taking a taxi $20 US for the 4 of us). The manager at Cancun Riverera explained that its a 3rd party travel agency, not the course that arranges transport and they've sent emails notifying GolfNow).
It was a slow morning when we played so pace of play was not an issue. Beautiful course, excellent condition, near perfect greens. (Iberostar was also in exceptional condition). Scenery and layout were very good, loved the ocean hole; stiff wind on holes facing the ocean. Staff professional and helpful. Club house is exceptional as was service in the restaurant after the round. Food was amazing. It truly was an all inclusive experience which for the rate we got, made it an even better experience.
Great Course
The course was challenging but very nice. If you go to Cancun and don't play this course, you're missing out. Half the price of other Cancun courses but still treated like a King.
Great course with friendly staff
What a great day, we were a little skeptical about leaving the beach for a day, but it turned out well worth it. The course is well maintained and the staff are very friendly. Several over water shots, some off the tee box. Obviously, a little less intimidating for the ladies from the red tees. I would definitely play it again.
Best Bang for your buck !!!!
When I booked my vacation I found out that my carrier would fly my clubs down for free, so I went ahead and booked 3 rounds. Riviera Cancun, Playacara and Mayakoba. Of all three rounds this one was the best !! It also was the cheapest. I paid $88.00 US and was given the Royal treatment. It was a challenge at first because they have posted their email address incorrectly. You have to change 2 letters in their address from ....allintrusive" to ...allinclusve. An honest mistake... I would like to think so !! This was my first round so I was extremely excited. There was a mix up regarding my transfers to and from my hotel but I will give 100% fault to my Hotel. They put my buddy down as the only registered guest, so when the course attempted to contact me regarding my transportation, they could not reach me. They were calling to tell me to take a cab and they would pay the fare and shuttle me back.....and that is exactly what they did. Was a first class course with a first class staff. The facitilties were great and the course was amazing. I was also very fortunate to have hooked up with a threesome who were a pleasure to play with. The service was excellent and you never needed to wait too long for the cart girl to refresh your beverage or serve you food. She was never more than 3 holes away which is surprisingly unusual when the course offers allinclusive drinks and food...... This Course hit every note and didn't miss a thing. The course was great, The driving range was great and the service was above reproach. The staff genuinely wanted you to enjoy your round made it abunduntly clear that they wanted you to come again . As far as meeting the criteria for an awesome day at the course ?? Riviera Cancun hit this one out of the park !!! Most enjoyable round I have had in years. Of all the cliche's I have heard......like, "you only get what you pay for".......... well ...every once in a while ...you get more and in this case.......alot more !!! Now to the course... The course is in excellent shape and Mr Jack Nicklaus did a superb job designing this.....tough but fair and lots of great holes. Picturesque and forgiving with no shortage of wildlife including crocs. You will have a chance to save par on every hole inspite of the many distractions. The greens were in great shape as were the Fairways. The sand was the best sand I have ever hit out of.....so fine that you didn't need a rake to fix them. I promise anyone who decides to play here, you will wish you booked twice !!! I can't say enough.... $88.00 US all inclusive to play here so I will have to give this course a perfect "10". After my round they shuttled me my back to my hotel and thanked me for chosing their course. All I can say is.....book this course and prepare for golf heaven !! You will thank me !!! Sunshine and smiles in the winter.
Wow what a great experience! Fantastic course and facilties. Jack Nicklaus definately did great job with water filled layout and challenging greens to say the least. Played as single but grouped with two excellent family men llike myself and enjoyed the round, cart, and all you could eat and drink the entire day for 90$!Awesome :)
Challenging course
Player in feb 2015. The course plays very long in the wind. Tough driving holes in general with the water in play and large bunkers. The greens are large and slopy, but were a bit bumpy when i was there. Hole number 3 is a tough challenge...
The staff at this course is the best i have met in the region ( played Mayakoba, Playacar and Playa Paraiso) they took my bag from my car, set up the cart with range balls while a was registering. During the round, Mayra with the cart came along with food (sandwiches, snacks and fresh fruits) and drinks. She was very polite and nice. After the round, the young man cleaned my clubs and put them back in my car while i ate lunch in the club house....great team!
good course
I played 18 off the back tees - course played long with the strong winds, enjoyed the round - no problems getting around - service good, fairways and greens were in good shape - greens seemed a little slow. It was my first round in five months so all in all happy to get round - hit a birdie on par 5 nineth, but struggled a little on the back nine.
Awesome conditions and value for your $$$$
I would highly recommend this course for any local Cancun visitor. This GC is tremendous value for your $$ and it was in awesome shape. Greens played true and smooth and fairways were plush and rolling. I would suggest you be a intermediate player as difficulty on 50% of the holes could prove to be a challenge for the novice player. Staff were fantastic and friendly. Take a camera as two of the greens play along the ocean so tremendous views for picture taking as well as the unique wild life. Beverages and lunch were included in my green fees so don't forget to ask if they are included in yours. I will play this course every time I go down to Cancun.
Probably the best deal in Cancun
Golf is expensive in Cancun...top courses are over $200 per 18. But this is one of the top three courses and is the sight of the PGA qualifying tourney and they have an all inclusive $94 afternoon rate. . So...golf, cart, range balls, free food and drinks, and a championship course for half what other courses are charging. The also have a slightly higher rate that includes round trip transfers from your hotel. And, the Mexican Government just changed state to Daylight Savings time (US Eastern time) so we could easily playto 7pm or later.
The course is challenging but beautiful and in great shape. It is very tight and the wind is tricky so I lost way more balls than the 1 or 2 a round I normally lose. But, the drinks helped keep me mellow.
The clubhouse is elegant and the service is fast and friendly. The course and clubhouse are the first part of a planned resort that has been delayed so for now it is sitting all by itself in a sort of coastal nature preserve. But it is the closest course to the airport and just off the Hotel Zone ring road.
Excellent vacation course
This course is a fine value. Typical Nicklaus venue w/ hole variety and emphasis on strategic choices is lacking his "signature" two-fairway hole. Super condition, greens look fuzzy but roll true and fast. Fee included cart, range, and lunch/snacks and beverages.
Keep your eyes open and you'll see a couple small gators as well. Don't miss this one!
Great Fairways!
What a great course! Excellent condition, PGA's fairways! Tight fairways, big green. 5 stars!
A Gem To Play
This course by Nicolas is tight around the greens with lots of sand traps and few flat lies. It was in excellent shape and the all inclusive offered there makes the price very reasonable. We played 3 times in the week and the staff was friendly and helpful. A great course to play.
Cancun golf
Great course in pristine shape. Staff was friendly. Rental clubs were new! Would play again, great rate with golf now!!
Awesome Course/Experience
Golf - awesome course but very changeling due to winds and narrow fairways. Bring extra balls. Course was in great shape and they constantly have many holes being worked on/maintained, it's clear why it's in great shape. I played 2 balls and finished in under 3 hours, only saw one other group on the course and they let me play through.
Experience - great deal on golfnow that included round trip transportation, range and unlimited food/drink. Entire staff from starter, cart girl and waiters in the restaurant were extremely friendly and professional. They do everything they can to make sure you have a great experience. Was great talking to the staff about other courses in the area and their take on the course.
A Great Course
Well I enjoyed playing this course and made a hot deal on Golf Now. It was well worth the money and the travel to the course which is located near the Ocean and Cancun Airport. The price included return transportation from Cancun Hotel Zone, breakfast which was delicious omelet's, toast and fruit plus free drinks alcoholic or non alcoholic for the entire 18 holes. Happy hour !!!!
I shot a 79 here playing from scratch and the blue tees on my first round and thought the course was a little short. Very narrow fairways but the course was in excellent shape. The fairways were a little too wet and my ball plugged in on 2 muddy soft fairways. Too much with the sprinklers. Each par 3 was interesting but not difficult to get near the pin. Careful if you go full power with your drives off the tee as for sure you will end up jungle or water. I played mine conservatively and 200 to 250 seemed about the right distance for keeping them straight and in great order for the second shots. Greens were super for putting and some a little undulating. Jack did a fine job here for sure. The only downside is no accommodations ! Hopefully will be fixed soon as I could have stayed for at least 4 days. A great course for sure, everyone that loves golf should try this course. Well worth the travel. Enjoy !!! Derek G / Canada.....
Great course
Great course that is in spectacular condition. Very friendly & helpful staff. I had a great experience I even played the course 2 days in a row.
Great deal, keep it in the fairway!
Played twice during a recent vacation to Cancun. Best course closest to the strip, ALL-INCLUSIVE!!! Nice restaurant included good menu & drinks for before and after golf. On course drinks were flowing. Maybe that's why we shot not so good.
Conditions were very good. Everything in nice shape. Greens were typical signature Nicklaus with big rollers & multiple breaks. But pin placements were decent. Keep it in the fairway and you'll be fine like others say. Maybe not a driver all the time.
Wind was way way up. Made for some interesting play. Slices were accentuated 50 yards! And it even rained for a few holes but quickly passed over.
Great value play in the area
All inclusive package a nice touch
Course was in very good condition. It was nice to have beverages included as it was hot and humid. A few holes have great water views, and the wildlife makes for an interesting round. The transportation to and from the hotel was effortless and convenient.
