Bartow
Booked to play as wanted to try another Donald Ross course. Staff all very friendly and was allowed to start early though not until last of the earlier shotgun had teed off on number one. This should have been a worry and rightly so as we had to play behind really slow guys/groups playing a club scramble until they finished on number 12. That said I enjoyed the course which has smooth fast greens. Fairways are patchy at best so played preferred lies so that I could at least approach Ross’s small greens from grassy lies. Grill room looked inviting as did the specials board.
Straightforward course
Straightforward course on flat land. Conditions were decent. Holes on the range side have much more character. If you can get out early, it’s a solid track.
Great Round for second of year
The course is fairly straight firwaex; chalenging your abilities to shoot straight. Great groups behind and in front of my solo round-best thing that could have happened for a second round of the year. Pro shop. And starter were hospitable and polite. Although the grass on fairways is sparse the greens were god and allowed for decent putting.
Probably an underfunded course making the best of things.
More/Better grass would be nice. Still a quality Donald Ross course.
Poor condition and holes too close to each other
The course conditions were not very good. Fairways are not very green and the rough is very sparse. Greens roll good but are smaller and not very green. Pace of play is the best part is the best thing about this course.
Fun Course
This is an "Old Florida" course (flat as a pancake with lots of big old oak trees.) The greens are in good condition and were very fast. The fairways are in good shape also.
Nice tract bad score
The course was considered by our whole group to be in the best shape we have ever seen it
First time playing
Very good course for the money. Greens were true and very well kept. Roughs could have been a little shorter to help locate balls but with the rainy weather in summertime Florida that is to be expected. I will play there again.
Only holes 5-13 available for play. Had to play twice for full round. Wasn’t mentioned when I booked the t time.
Sewage
Well was an OK track but only shot 12 0f 18 kept skipping holes to avoid a greens keeper who kept turning on sprinklers that smelled of sewage as we were in play even hit me with them in a fairway at one point. once we seen the guy turning them on he went to clubhouse and stopped. I will never play here again as i don't pay to have games played with me. I pay to play a peaceful round of golf.
July 4th
Greens were recently aerated. Course reminded me of a nice course back in Indiana. Will definitely play again.
Average
Fairways were in bad shape, not mowed and lots of missing grass. Had teenagers on the course, group of six that were having fun and very beginner stage. Called club house to have ranger come out due to pace of play, was told they were to busy in the clubhouse. Was able to play thru on hole 6 and as driving out of course they were on hole 10.
