Bartow Golf Course
About
Bartow Golf Course is a municipal course that offers an affordable yet challenging round. The course has a classic design with an interesting mix of holes that range from being wide open to narrow and tree lined. The postage-stamp-sized greens demand accuracy and there are also a few strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. Build up your score on the front nine before tackling the tougher back nine. The golf course has enough challenges to keep more advanced players satisfied but it's forgiving enough to appeal to beginners as well. One of the most memorable holes is the par-3 13th. There is a tree that stands right in the middle of the fairway, forcing you to either go over or try to get around and risk going in the sand trap.

Enjoyable
The course is in good condition. Greens run true and fast to my liking. Fairways the grass needs to grow. Ball doesn’t sit up at all. All in all course was fun and good.
Nice track
Arrived at the the end of an outing they were having but teed off at out tee time. Tee boxes were in average condition, fairways were green & in good condition especially considering the drought. The greens were smooth & true and were pretty fast. They also have a lot of break in most putts which makes them difficult. At least I found them difficult! The lay out was interesting. Several dog legs & ponds. The sand traps were a little rough. Pace of play was slow but it was a Saturday & they had a crowd. 4:45 round made it a little less enjoyable

Course was in very good condition. Greens were awesome. Staff was professional and courteous as always. Great value for the costs.
It's A Donald Ross Course!
I am a traditionalist fan. Bartow and Ross are my favorites. So when you can play a true Ross Course it's a joy. Yes, the fairways are thin and the tee boxes aren't CC pretty. And here is the gem: the greens are incredible, are truly Ross configured and unchanged! They have been impeccably maintained. Oh, they are very fast. Let me repeat! VERY FAST. You are going to thoroughly enjoy watching your ball roll and roll and roll and roll....... I could play this course every day and be happy. So all you golf snobs. Stay away. Unless your brave enough to take on these greens.
BTW, the staff are all friendly, helpfull, and truly welcoming.
Turtleback Greens
I couldn't make my putts until the last 5 holes. I was able to par all 5 to finish. If you got too aggressive, your ball may just go past and off of the green!
Nice layout, but fairways were bare. Winter, so excuseable! Greens very fast.
nice greens
A very good value for what I paid. Not much grass on the course with many barren areas off the fairway. You had to move the ball to find a decent lie pretty much everywhere. Greens, however, were very good. True roll, decent speed, no ball marks and no spike marks. cost to play was the price of large bucket of balls at many driving ranges.
Very good Donald Ross greens.
Course is very dry due to local drought conditions. Was greener than a week ago. Most of the ponds were dry. Greens were very good. Was fantastic value for the price. A bit of a drive from Wesley Chapel but I’ll likely play it again. Thanks
Good Donald Ross greens.
Drought is really affecting this course.
Greens were good, Ponds are empty. Fairways were sparse and burnt out. Enjoyed the people we played with and staff were very friendly.
Weathering the Storm
All courses in the area were damaged by the recent freezes. Plants, trees and even the grass was damaged.
So, the course was good considering the situation. Very nice golf carts and good course.
A much tougher course in the winter...
I've played her a couple of times before in summer. The greens are softer and more receptive, and a little slower to prevent burnout. Now they are fast and the Donald Ross doming makes everything a false front, and the edges roll everything off the green. There's not a lot of bunkers, but several are positioned to punish shots along the edges of the fairway (or in one case to catch a long second shot on a par five. This is definitely the better of the two Donald Ross courses in the area.
