Course lacking maintenance
Golfed this in 2020 prior to COVID-19 and was in much better shape.
Great experience
Very good course and conveniently located. I would recommend course books are included to help identify the many dogleg holes and hazards. Overall very good experience and I would recommend.
Good Value, great challenge
This course is right across from the Riu Palace Riviera Maya where my wife and I stayed in February 2022. The convenience was too much to pass up so I booked a tee time without much of an expectation. The pro shop may be a tad underwhelming but the service is top tier.
Once you check in,, someone takes your bags to your cart while you are given a wristband to enjoy the all-inclusive bar. Yeah. An All. Inclusive. Bar.
Once you’ve had a beer (or two), you can take a couple clubs from your bag and walk over to the range. The range is pretty average and the range balls aren’t great either but, overall, it gets the job done.
The course layout is challenging to say the least. Plenty of dog legs, blind second shots and sand traps to make you consider what club to pull and what shot to hit.
The greens are in good repair but seemed a little dry. Not the slickest greens I’ve ever played but they are pretty quick. Overall I’d give the greens a B- and the course overall a B+
. I got a noon tee time for $85 and had about half that in beer and drinks. Bring pesos for tips, 20 pesos per drink should suffice.
OK but not great
Course gets too much play and closes early for some reason. 5 hour afternoon rounds and can't finish if you tee off after noon as they shut down at 4:30 for no apparent reason.
No indication course closes at 4:30
Figured 1:10 would be fine to finish a round before dark but the course closes at 4:30 so we kinda got shafted. But the price was cut by 40% so for 15 holes it was alright. The gimmick of all inclusive is a joke though. Most people aren’t going to have an amount to offset the cost on a poor course.
People were awesome and the course was kind to a mid handicapper. Still love golf
Slow
I had a 1:15 tee time and when I got to the course, they told me that they course closed at 4:30 and could expect tp play only 9 holes!??? Took 3 hours to play the front 9. Often 3-4 groups on a hole (5 groups on a par 3- took 40 minutes to play that hole). No marshall on the course to be found. Make sure you tee off by 10:30 am if you want to play all 18.
Close early
The golf course close at 4:30 PM and the kitchen close at 4 PM
Very disappointing because we pay for all inclusive food and beverage
But we play at 12:22 PM and after the golf no food no bar no beverage
