Whitestone Golf Course
About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

The problems continue...
After a 40 minute drive to the course, we arrived at 2:20 p.m. to find a full parking lot and golf bags waiting everywhere. Went to check in for our 3:18 tee time and was told that we were delayed by an hour due to a tournament that had gone off that morning and was ALLOWED to take 6 hours to finish. We tried to call other nearby courses to see if we could get on somewhere else, but no luck.... So we waited. Finally, at around 4:35 p.m., we got carts and were able to start our round. Things were going well until we made it to hole 7 and found 4 foursomes waiting at the tee box - another delay. This one took 30 minutes to clear up... As we waited, we looked over to the 9th green and saw a group of 9 on the green - literally running and screaming around the green.... we had found the cause of our 30 minute wait at 7.... Long story short, we did not get to finish our round.
The greenskeepers at Whitestone are not the problem. Coming out of winter, the course looked very cleaned up. The fairways and bunkers still need some love, but the greens were rolling fast. Conditions are up to par.
What plagues Whitestone is the way it is being run (or lack thereof). Every tee time we've booked at Whitestone has had some kind of problem. From delays, to no carts, to no range balls, pace of play issues - you name it, we've experienced it here every time.
It's a shame that a course with so much potential has these type of problems. For now, we will be removing this course from our regular play rotation list. Hopefully the issues get resolved and we can add it back in the future.
Golf carts and pace of play
They somehow lost keys to the golf carts. Our tee time was pushed back 45 min while we waited on a cart. Following that, the holes were so packed it took us and the group ahead 6 hours to finish the round.
Waste..cow pasture with lots of cows
First off, I should have known the pace of play was going to be a nightmare when there was 4 groups deep stacked up on the first hole. Finally teed off 20 minutes behind schedule to just sit around hole after hole wasting away a Saturday. After 3.5 hours we finally finished the 9th hole. We had an enough and decided to leave.
Course conditions- greens were fast, best part of the course. The fairways and tee boxes were hard packed dirt.. where is the grass? The layout was less than par with nothing too challenging.
With that said, I would never go back. Spend your money on a course that values the product they are selling and the pace of play. Whitestone clearly does not.
Superfast greens
Played this course many times throughout many years. The new ownership has done a lot of good maintenance and improvements. On this particular visit everything was very good except the starter was rude. The inside staff was great.
Excellent Course!
I had known of this course for the past year and finally was able to play a round and it did not disappoint! Even with a 90° rule and bunkers being out of play due to the recent weather it was still a wonderful course to play and I will definitely be returning in the near future!
Pretty rough
Fairways are pretty bad, I realize we under winter conditions but lots of bare dirt. Bunkers have no sand just packed dirt. Greens not bad, running fairly fast.
DP
Greens good, fairways ok for winter, traps have NO sand.
JD Whitestone Dec 2024
Conditions were very good. Th hey have cleared brush from under all the trees in a major cleanup campaign.
Review Whitestone
Not much grass on the fairways and the greens were fast as always. But overall it was a great value and the staff out there is really great
Great course/Need Marshall to keep pace of play
Followed young college kids playing a 6-some. At least four group passed them of the course becuase there were as many as four groups on the same hole. When we passed them they proceeded to hit shots passed us when we were in the fairway.
Whitestone Golf Course review
Had played this course before, but had not played this course in over 6 years. There have been many improvements to the course since, some trees had been cut down, or limbs cut, brush around the fairways or around the greens had been cleared, etc, lots of improvements have been made to the course, making it a whole lot cleaner. Course was a little wet, but probably due to rain, but course was in good condition on fairways and on and around the greens. Overall great course!
Dry and hard
Winter dormant grass thin and ground hard. I don't think it has been watered enough this year, but in their defense we had a dry summer. Bunkers are totally unplayable. Gray sand with rocks in them. I do like the layout and caught a 'hot deal' on Golfnow. Foursomes playing did not want to let my twosome play through.
conditions going backward
We have played here frequently through the good and bad days and management. This current group has made drastic improvements to the course and, UNTIL TODAY, the conditions have been pretty good. Today it was difficult to find grass in the fairway on many holes. Appearance was of not being properly watered. However, there were many places where there was a lot of wetness including standing water off the fairways. Not much if any rain recently, so not understandable. Finally the cost to play a course in these conditions is unacceptable, even for the M-Th rate. We won't be back until we have reason to believe improvements have been made.
Very fun
This was my first visit to whitestone gc, and I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff, and the well maintained facilities. There's two huge putting greens so no one was cramped. And it was packed. The only issue was thw slow pace of play but that isn't their fault. When ya have a good course, people want to play it and there's however million people in the dfw now. The greens were super fast but that's winter. Over all I had a wonderful time and will be back
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Whitestone Golf Course.

It’s alright.
They had open tee times all afternoon a day before we were scheduled to play. Due to the pro shop allowing more walk on tee times they over scheduled and we could not tee off till 35 minutes after our PAID reservation, or even have a golf cart at the start. At that point we were a 4 player party waiting for 2 other parties to hit at every single hole. We managed to get 11 holes in before the sun went down. Overall the course is nice and the staff was great, but over scheduling ruined the experience and play.
