About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Whitestone GC in Benbrook - a fun place to play
This review would have been higher except the majority of the fairways (at least where is was landing) was hard pan. This is due to time of year but I also suspect there was a lack of watering and even “punching that led to the severity of the condition. I will say on the back nine i found more grass but overall you were better off driving in the rough versus the fairways. This track has been on my “places to play” for many years since my parents lived in Granbury. This was my first visit and I love the design! Lots of risk and reward shots for golfers of all levels. The tee setups appear to be good equalizers when you have different levels of players. Regarding the pace of play we were a foursome who had a twosome ahead of us. They were novices and we waited on every tee box, however it appeared to us that they were waiting on the foursome ahead of them who were very very slow playing.
I have to say the greens were FANTASTIC. Great shape and true rolls to the reads. Pretty quick but fair…
Overall we had a great time even with the hard pan and the waits. We will be back to play it iSpring/Summer conditions to test it again.

golf carts
We had to change carts two times because of mechanical problems (brakes and low battery). The 12-volt ports on all the carts do not work (per staff member). Carts also need to be cleaned better.

The Clubhouse is welcoming and the staff is second to none!
The course was in incredible shape considering the heat. It was green and lush and beautiful.
I commend the Superintendent as it was in perfect condition.
I Not only recommend this course but I will play it every time I am in the area!

“I’m in charge here!”
Greens are in outstanding condition and would give them 5 stars. Rest of the course is in typical late December condition. First time to play here and the starter almost ruined my experience. Allowed a 5’some on a Friday of a holiday weekend! Checked in with the starter 20 minutes before my 10:46 time. Went to the restroom and returned 15 minutes ahead of our scheduled time and were told we missed our tee time and we would have to be worked in. I pointed out we were 15 minutes ahead of our time, so we hadn’t missed it. He replied, “I’m in charge here! I’ll work you in when I can.” Ended up teeing off with the other 2’some with the 10:46 time, but totally unnecessary and he was a horse’s butt about it.
Course layout is good except for holes 10 & 16; both par 5’s that you best not hit driver off the tee. Bunkers could use some maintenance as they have lots of rocks in them and didn’t appear to have been raked in some time. Will probably play again given the chance, but will wait until late spring. Hope they have another starter by then.

Good but slow
Course was in good shape for being December. The greens were perfect the fairways were a little hard and punishing. The pace of play was excruciating, we teed off 20 minutes late and after 4 hours had only played 13 holes due to having to wait for at least 10 minutes, most of the time closer to 20 to tee off on each hole. Overall great and will go back as I am sure this was a one off event for the pace of play. The staff and the clubhouse were great!!!

More bang for the buck
The course maintenance staff has improved this course from a couple years ago. They have cleaned up a lot of the brush and other maintenance issues on the course. The greens were in really good shape and I had a good round! I recommend it for the price. Great staff also!
Much fun
As a 78 year old, I would like to see a forward tee at about 5500 yards. Love the course, greens are excellent, and challenging. Thank you.

Whitestone Golf Course Review
To start off with, I have played courses all over DFW and you are not going to find any higher quality course for the money that you paid here! From the clubhouse to the staff to the conditions of the greens in December, I could not complain about anything, just a really well ran and maintained course! With all of the elevated greens and plenty of well marked OB, this course is definitely pretty challenging for the average golfer! Will definitely be back!

Caught it on GN for $30. Had a 09:00 t but went off @ 09;39 due to freeze. Course was in great shape, great greens. A steal @ $30

Always a Good Time!
We play Whitestone one or two times a month and have a great time each visit. The greens will fool you as you don't really get the feel of them until about the third hole.
