Whitestone Golf Course
About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Good for this time of the year.
Like the layout. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were good for this time of the year. They really need extra care and more sand in the bunkers.
Beautiful St. Patrick’s Day Outing
The day was beautiful, the greens were nice, and the staff was super-friendly.
Sand traps need work
Fairways and greens were in decent shape, however the traps were horrible huge rocks and no work going into them
Pace
We had a fivesome on a weekend. Not good. Staff was excellent, course was ok but these sand traps are still dirt. Would like to see that fixed.
Mud Traps
Acres and acres of strategically placed magnificent bunkers without a single grain of sand to be found.....never seen anything like it.Had to play them as ground under repair. If you can't maintain them, fill them in !! Course has loads of potential with a long way to go. Probably was beautiful at one time.
Not a bad course.
Been raining so really wet. But overall good course.
Really nice course, but...
This is a really nice course with a lot of character. What I can’t figure out is why it is consistently over-watered. The course was muddy from start to finish, yet there had been no rainfall for more than a week. If they could just regulate the sprinklers, it would be much more fun.
Whgitestone
Excellent reception by staff. Friendly, quick, efficient. Got us out and onto the course quickly. Chilly day, so the numbers were low, but we did not have to wait and let some folks play through. It is winter so the course was not in excellent shape, but was good for the winter and the greens, with some bad spots, were very consistent. I really like the layout and there are some very challenging holes.
Need food
Absolutely love the course but for the men to only have hot dogs and sandwiches is uncalled for
White stone course
Sand traps had no sand just hard pan. So bad we didn’t play out of them. Been this way for a while. Other then that course in good shape.
Quirky Course
This is the second time I’ve played this course and both times the staff overbooked the tee times. They have a young and inexperienced staff. There was no one keeping the pace. The course has some great holes and then there are some that will leave you scratching your head. There is a lot of hardpan here, and several with very odd landing areas. It’s a course that’s hard to get anything going kind of like going from ride to ride at an amusement park.
Traps/Rough
Both traps and rough need a lot of clean up. Lil sand in traps and lots of rocks and branches, broken branches in rough area. BEWARE
Traps.
Please remove the boulders, large stones NOT PEBBLES from the traps. CLEAN up the edge of rough.
Could be maintained better.
Good experience overall, but a few greens could use some TLC. Also bunkers were almost unplayable. But that's expected after the long freeze we just had. Would love to play this course in peak conditions.
