Whitestone Golf Course
About
Long and susceptible to the wind, White Stone Golf Club rolls through an impressive Hill Country-like setting with huge oak trees, lots of rocks, and loads of native oaks, cacti, yucca, and wildflowers.
Bunkers are everywhere on this 7,100-yard Jeff Brauer design, and water comes into play on about seven holes. The key to scoring well is keeping the ball below the hole, avoiding nasty downhill putts on the extremely fast greens. White Stone's par 5s are tough, and average golfers should probably play them conservatively and be happy just getting there in three, since three out of four are fronted by hazards and require carries.
On the front nine, no. 1 tests you early -- it’s a 555-yarder with a creek that crosses the fairway and forces a layup on the second shot. No. 9 is nice as well, a 360-yarder that should be played with a short iron to lay up in front of the creek. This hole features a nice dip in the center of the green that requires knowing the correct pin placement.
White Stone Golf Club's back starts strong like the front, opening with a 580-yard par 5 with a sloping fairway that is cut by the creek on two occasions. No. 11 is the best par 3 on the golf course -- a 200-yarder that plays dow hill over a creek and into a creek surrounded by bunkers.

Good course for the money
Good course for the money. Greens were in decent shape, there were a few bare/rough areas but the pins were positioned in areas that mostly avoided them. The bunkers are a different story, almost all of them have absolutely no sand and were in terrible condition- highly suggest just playing it as ground under repair and going on about your day.
No martial monitoring tee times or on course pace of play. I had a 2:45 tee time and didn't tee off until almost 3 because a group of 9 high schoolers pushed everything back. Played 9 holes in just under 3 hours, at the turn was able to speak with a manager to get permission to go around the 9-some and come back and play the holes that I skipped. Once we were clear of them the round really picked up.
Difficult course for a high handicap player, but what a better learning experience than a good challenge. Good course, bad game!
Pace of play
I'm not going to go in depth...but I went home after the turn when I saw 4 carts piled up on 10. Up to that point it had taken me a little over 2.5 hrs and I shot a 38...so quite a bit of time waiting around. No one enforcing rate of play, just driving around chit chatting with friends.
Course is not in good shape
I have played WhiteStone over 10 times and this is the worse shape I have ever seen it. The Bunkers were terrible, the greens and tees were struggling for grass. The fairways were really good. I am hoping it turns around in the next couple months. The pace of play was fair. For the price I can't complain to much I just am writing this to let other golfers know WS is not the same as it used to be. I will go play again.
I had most pleasant time to play golf. Other golfers were kept right pace and quiet. The fairways were nice.
Ok course
We have played better courses but this was ok, it was worth what we paid though golf now, no cart girl on a Saturday is not good, and the greens where not in the best of shape.
Not good right now
The course is not very good right now. The fairways are bare as is the greens. You get these spots of grass or whatever they are throughout the greens that affect your puts. The poor guy trying to check everyone in needed help but had to keep walking back and to the guy with answers that was just talking to some chick and guy just out of the pro shop. Then you could not get anyone to maintain the concession area. People were lining up there as well. Pace was slow but ok. No Marshall working. Play did get back up at times. People were friendly. Just not prepared. They had a tournament but I guess most of the staff went home after it was over. Not the best time.
Slow pace
The coarse was in better shape than it usually is which is nice. With some upkeep and Marshall intervention this coarse would be amazing.
Really bad sand traps.
Worst sand traps in the Dallas Fort Worth area. In my opinion.
Just a nice place to play 18
Great course. Challenging layout. Also played with a good friend. Way to spend an afternoon
Love This Place
Always have a good time here. Sand traps were iffy, but weather the day before had a lot to do with that. Friendly staff & pace was good. Will be back many times.
This course has enough challenges for low handicap players to enjoy.
The course is designed to handle handicaps from low to high. Wide fairways, descent amount of bunkers, and the greens were in pretty good shape. Play a round, you won't be disappointed.
Terrible layout
This is the worst course i have ever played, terrible conditions, the club house restroom nasty and unsanitary.
Club is need of some TLC.
Whitestone has been going down for the last few years. The greens were in bad shape. Lots of weeds to compete with the Bermuda. Tee boxes on par 3's were mostly sand. Bunkers should be eliminated as they are not maintained. Rocky, poor drainage, no sand. Even with winter time conditions, this course has not been maintained. No beverage cart on the weekend. Few course amenities. This course has a great layout but needs an infusion of resources.
Decent
Exactly what I expected for January golf. The course has a pretty good layout, grass is dormant, greens were actually fairly receptive and smooth. I'm not a huge fan of gas carts, and they removed the GPS, but this course is well worth $35.
