Much better courses for cheaper in San Antonio area
Greens are absolutely awful. $115 for a round at this course is a joke. Winter takes a toll on a course, but this place has the worst greens within 50 miles. Go elsewhere
Stay away for now
They are charging over a hundred dollars for a course with some of the worst greens around. Layout of the course is still one of my favorites, but the greens simply aren’t puttable. Tee boxes are mostly fair quality as well as fairways. Mats on the range have needed replacing for awhile. I heard that Troon has recently bought it, so hopefully it turns around. I would stay away for at least 6 months.
Hill Country Golf
The course layout, staff, amenities were great. Currently, since we are in the middle of winter, it’s very brown. The greens need a lot of work. I am sure with Spring coming and water the course will look fabulous. Definitely a must play, especially if you get a HOT DEAL through Golf Now. The course is hilly, in a canyon, surrounded by the lower hill country of Texas. The holes are very close to each other, with the back 9 surrounding the front 9. Good walking course.
Tapatio Resort Golf Course...Not Ready for Prime Time
I understand that Tapatio Gold Coyrse has had some problems getting qualified staff to manage and maintain the course over rhe past three months, but I played it in early January, and it was in no better shape than all of the local public golf courses. The fairways were not well maintained, but the greens and tee boxes were in horrible shape, not worth the $95 price tag. I've been told by knowledgeable friends that the course has been in great condition as recently as late September, but something has changed. The layout is outstanding, so this was a bit disappointing. For the same price, a person can play The Quarry and get an excellent course. I will wait until spring to play Tapatio again...but ask about the greens and fairways before making a tee time this winter.
Small course, poor green conditions, expensive based on course conditions and rate
Small golf course. Holes fit into small place, greens in bad condition, same tee box used for two different holes. Very friendly staff.
Based on course conditions, very expensive at $115 round rate
Meh
Got a bit rushed by the starter, making us tee off 20 minutes early, so we didn't get a full range session in. Course was in good shape, except the greens. They need some work, which is surprising with the decent weather, the price they charge, and no cold weather yet.
Brady Eubanks Russell Sosa
Greens were dirt/patch grass. 100% not a $115 course. Staff didn’t answer their phones, broke down carts. Terrible experience
Overpriced.
First time playing today 12/28/24. Greens looked to have been scalped. Just mud in some places on a few greens, layout was very picturesque and fairways were beautiful. Overall for paying 115 dollars I’d expect to have atleast decent greens to play on.
Beautiful day for golf
Awesome day. Never waited to tee off. Clean carts. Wonderful staff. Definitely coming back again.
Fun
Fun and close to home. Challenging course but if shooting decent can get in the 80’s at least
Had a fun time
My Father and I played this course the other day, we had a fun time! I will say for the cost, you can find better headed towards San Marcos/Austin. That’s not to say that greens were in good condition, the layout was fun! Some fairways were thin and others were a lot more forgiving! It’s made for a really fun day, it’s just competitive at that price point compared to some other really great courses. If I happen to be in the area, id play there again
Much improved.
Last time I played the greens were not in great shape. That was one year ago. They are putting in some work to get this in better shape. First time in several years number one green was filled completely with grass and Number 5 has been horrible shape for years, no more, it is getting better. Course had been punched a few weeks back but it was coming in nicely. Slow greens but after a few you get the speed down. If they can keep the greens improving this is a great course:
Tapatio Springs
Two of us played alone in late July. We liked it enough to drive back from Bandera to the course two more times while we were in the area for a week. They told us twice that there were other people set to play with us however we were able to sneak off early and play in 3 1/2 hours each time since it was not packed solid. With that said, we were disappointed that some people kept hitting into us and not waiting for us to clear. We were more than on pace to finish our round in a timely manner. The course was in good condition since there had been a lot of rain this summer. Some of the tee boxes were missing grass, some of the greens had some rough patches, but overall we thoroughly enjoyed the course, using the GolfNow app to reserve tee times. The greens ran very slow. It was very easy to check in and grab a cart and head to the practice area. However, we were slightly disappointed that during the week there were no bag boys to assist with your clubs or setting up your cart. The carts have GPS screens and hole layouts. However, we noticed multiple times that the distances were not accurate. One day the pin placement was completely different than what was programmed on the cart. On some holes, it would say the drive was significantly different from the actual yardage. With that said though, that is only one tool to use to manage your distance game. This seems to be a part Member, part public course. The attire was significantly more casual than our members only club. The staff that was tending to us was very pleasant and accommodating. We went in the bar area after our round and enjoyed cocktails and apps. The deviled eggs were terrific. I would definitely go back if we are in the area.
