Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort

When my best golf buddy came to visit for a few days (he and I played together for years in Durango, CO) I made a reservation to play at TS because of the uniqueness of the course layout and the course condition (it had been several years since I had played there). First impression was the guy behind the desk in the pro shop was not particularly friendly and the reservation I had made through the website was a Golf Now reservation (which I didn't know). The credit card I used had not been charged and it was a big deal to get that straightened out. Then we got to the range and there were no balls. Had been some kind of tourney that morning and they "were out". Then went to the practice green and the condition was terrible. Said we hope the rest of the course would be better, but it wasn't. Noticed early on the bare dirt patches in the fairways, ant beds, weeds and general poor condition. When you kill the ants you have to spread out the dead beds or they just stay there and look ugly. Way too much money for the very poor conditions. Ruts near the card paths, no water on the course, awful greens, very poor conditions everywhere. Very disappointed especially for $85/ My buddy was not impressed with TS or now Boerne in general. Really bad experience.

Overall it’s a fun course, not terribly long but a lot of fun. I was surprised with the green conditions. Several greens had some really dead spots and one green almost entirely sanded. I guess there is some invasive grass making its way into the greens but definitely not under control yet. They were Playable but not what you expect for $100+ a round on the weekend. Fairways were great, pace of play of crazy good for a weekend. We finished 18 in 4 hrs almost to the minute. Practice and warmup area is really good.

Great course! Staff was super friendly & the course was in great shape. Pace of play was a little slow due to cart path only but overall i will be coming back time and time again!

Paid $75 on a hot deal, unfortunately course conditions do not support a fee over $50 at most. Better values and courses in San Antonio for the money.

First time playing out here for us in the last 10 years. We are all members at different courses/clubs in the area so we just haven't ventured out to Tapatio (very remote) in quite a while. It was worth it. Pace of play is HORRIBLE at so many courses lately, NOT this one. I honestly think the price and distance keeps the muni crowd away. Fairways as to be expected this time of year, but not nearly as bad as Sonterra or Dominion- both in horrific shape. Highly recommend the course, setting, staff, and the entire set up. The range also has a really awesome chipping zone off grass at various distances. We WILL be back! We also saw the cart girl OFTEN. I know that matters to some. Granted it’s not the kind of road you wound want to drive back home on after a long day of drinking and golfing- that’s for sure.

This is a well designed course with 4 sets of tees providing a fair test for golfers of all levels. The fairway grass is good but completely dormant this time of year. The greens are on the fast side and in excellent shape. Sand in the numerous bunkers is well maintained.

Courses knowledge is key in targeting drives to blind landing areas. There are steep uphill holes and some forced carries over canyons. The Par 5s are medium short and open, but the Par 3s are surprisingly long with small landing areas.

The practice range is excellent and range balls are included in the green fee. The carts are high quality with good GPS. I was surprised that cart path only was the rule even though the weather has been dry, so the GPS plus laser range finders are a must.

The clubhouse facility is top notch resort/club style and the pro shop and employees are both excellent.

The greens have greatly improved and nice to see that they have come back. The fairways are sad. The lack of water/rain really took its toll on the fairway grass. Will not play again until next year with fingers crossed for rain.

Beautiful course with some great views of the surrounding hill country. Greens were in excellent condition but a little on the slow side. Fairways were the only downside due to the lack of rain/ watering because of the drought. Can't wait to play it when the fairways are green, might end up being my favorite course.

Paid $60 to play. A 6 pack of beer for buddy and I was $40. I wouldn’t play for more than $60 though. Not much of a challenge. Course was in really good shape. I liked the pitching practice area. Clubhouse was really nice.

Best I have seen the greens and course at Tapatio since I have lived in Boerne: not sure why the round is $120 on a Saturday. This course is fun, not crazy long.but very well laid out:
