Poor Co-ordination
Arranged an 11 AM tee time; ghot ot course and they said they had a tournament...I had to wait until 12:30 to play and only got 9 holes played.
They said GolfNow and thekir computers did not communicate with each other.
Sorry deal and management
Great course fast greens
One of my highest scoring rounds. Killed me. Super fast greens, but beautiful course. Everything was well maintained. Few Weeds around tee box but really was pretty awesome.
Those greens
Course is in great shape. The greens are in great shape as well. I 3 putt way too much here. Greens break more than you think they will and they are the fastest greens in this area. Love this challenging course. Shot 90. I will be in the 80s at this course. Mark my words.
The value forcyour experience
The value for your experience isn't there. The price, needs to be a better curb appeal in front of the building. There are weeds growing in the flowerbeds. The restroom are clean and managed well. The Pro shop is nicely clean and organized, however, the items are old and the inventory is always out of common sizes. There are plenty of open slots for belts, shirts, etc. No left handed items but you can order it. Saving taxes isn't always the goal. The snack bar needs some helpers to get the orders out quicker. The are numerous times during peak hours the balls machine is out of balls for the range. The range has tall grass growing in common areas. The tree boxes are trash.
Course is Horribly Ran
Clubhouse redhead dude with chin beard is rude. Makes tee times and then when you arrive there is a tourney and can’t play. He can’t answer why he does it.
Course has great potential but run by fools sucking the life out of taxpayer dollars. Service members deserve better. Rough mowed same height as fairawys. Grass clipping so high you could bay hay for cows. Weeds all along course. O attention to tee boxes. This is a testament to private services ripping off the government. Staff is incompetent. Go play in Killean where you can enjoy a round.
Clear Creek
The course really needs more attention to the long grass. The grass is really long in place which really interrupt play. The tee boxes are in poor shape. Some green are under maintenance and there are no signs. The buckets need alot of attention
Hidden gem in Central Texas
The fairways are in excellent plush condition. Greens are in pretty good condition. Greens look average but roll good but very fast downhill (they will get faster in Aug/Sept as less rainfall). People need to learn to repair ball marks as Clear Creek’s greens are really soft to the point that every wedge thru 7 iron I hit stops immediately or spins back. Challenging layout and peaceful course. Only a couple holes run next to each other. This course does not have a true course super independent and really never has but has always been in good shape for the very minimal ground staff they have and I appreciate them. I’ve played here for over 40yrs and love this course. If you don’t have a CAC or ID card to get on base, go to the Courses of Clear Creak website, look for the visitors pass link, fill out the pass, you’ll get an email quickly if approved, go to TJ Mills visitors center and print your pass at the kiosk…it’s simple.
Call the course before going to see if there's a tourney...
We got a great Hotdeal on GolfNow for Wednesday.
We got there, and the pro shop said a tournament was going on and Golfnow should not have offered the tee-time...
We finally passed the guys in front of us.
Call the course before you go if you get a Golfnow hot deal and ask if they have a tourney the day of your tee-time.
Nice Course
Nice course throughout, the greens are super fast. We had a good time. Proshop staff were great and friendly. Will be back soon.
2nd time playing
So I decided to try Clear Creek once more before heading back to California. Now knowing the layout and having a better understanding of the course conditions, I found the course easier to play on. I ended up scoring 9 stokes better than the first time and feel I could have done even better if not for some poorer putting on this round. Oddly enough, the 11th hole par 3 was my nemesis hole.
If I ever return and play the course again, I’ll remember better to use a hybrid on the first 3 holes. #6 plays at least 2 clubs longer against the wind. Better to play #8’s second shot to the right of the green. #10 and 12 another hybrid holes off the tee. #14 split fairways. #18 low hybrid to aiming marker. Fast greens compared to most California greens.
Improved conditions over the years
This course used to be in poor health but over the last year it has been revitalized. The greens are firm but are in good condition as opposed to previous years where there were bare spots. Overall this course is one of the better ones around for your money.
Peaceful, uncrowded, but tough greens
I love golfing on this course.
It's always (been) uncrowded and it's a very challenging course.
It's a bit of a drive, but worth it.
The greens need some attention.
If you haven't golfed here, I recommend trying it.
All the greens are sloped which makes it so hard.
Humbling course
Course is coming back from the winter very nicely. After playing in temple and Killeen this course will definitely challenge you.
