Houston National Golf Club

Greens are in phenomenal shape! Fairways are hard, but for this time of year the course is playing really well.

Played here with a few friends that have never played the course. They loved it, course is in good shape and always good to play somewhere with alot of hills!

We thoroughly enjoyed our round at Houston National . Check in was seamless and we tee’d off exactly on time. The course was in great condition considering how Hot it’s been this year. The greens were immaculate!!!

Enjoy a 3 hr round as a twosome, 1st group out and course in nice shape. Good layout in neighborhood of NW Houston

Fairways patchy in places, but very playable. Bunkers in good shape, tee boxes good. Greens are great. No bad spots, good pace.

Overall, Houston National is a decent course- interesting holes, a moderately challenging layout, and good practice facilities made for a fun day.

There are several pros here: drinks/snacks were affordable, range balls were included in the fee, the practice facilities were well kept and the cart girl/bar staff were very friendly and took good care of us.

I didn't find the pro shop staff very helpful, there are two courses, two carts, rules about what part of the practice area members/vs non-members can use and none of that was explained. I mistakenly grabbed a "member" cart (not belonging to a specific member, but one reserved for their use) and a staff member chased me out to the parking lot demanding that I change carts like I was trying to steal the thing. If they're that particular, explain it in the pro shop or put a different tag on the key. Any of this would have been easily solved with a "Have you played here before? No? Well, let me explain a bit about our course..." rather than the attitude they had.

Unfortunately, I don't think it was really worth the money. The greens had recently been punched, which I was aware of, so no harm there, but nonetheless, I don't think the conditions merited the rate. On a majority of holes there are rouge dirt patches and the bunkers are complete concrete. Anywhere that the course attempted a nice feature, like a deep valley before a raised green or undulation along the fairway, there was either substantial dead grass or dirt.

At the end of the day, I would equate this with a Houston Muni course in terms of course staff (pro shop and "cart manager") and course conditions. Certainly more interesting layouts than a Muni, but not much nicer. I wouldn't play again for $75, but I probably would for $50.

Pace of play was terrible. From the 6th hole through the 18th we were waiting on three groups in front of us. Didn't see one Marshall all round. Great course, but pace of play was unacceptable.

The course layout and facilities are good, but several parts of the course (including fairways) are currently in bad shape and unplayable. also, #1 & #18 are littered with range balls as there is no net to separate them. lastly, the cart return area smells, and has visible trash from the practice putting green, #1 tee box, then turn, and course finish.

Greens good but slower than normal. Fairways have some thin areas but overall good condition

Realizing I forgot my mask on the way to the course I called to see if there was another way to make payment, the guy answering the phone said oh don't worry just come on in were not concerned about the covid. After turning around and retrieving the mask are group teed off for a twilight round. The cart staff literally followed us around the entire front nine then waited for us at the green of number nine and rudely told us the round was over as they wanted to go home. $80 nine hole fee!!!!!

The course is very poor maintained. Fairways look like a rodeo ring.
