Jay Riviere added another of his many southeast Texas course designs to his resume with Pecan Lakes Golf Club. Par 72 and tipping out at 6,922 yards, this water-infested track plays around a 20-acre lake and waterway system. Water is the primary difficulty, coming into play on 17 of 18 holes, but the golf course is mostly hacker friendly with most par 4s ranging from 300 to 400 yards. The round starts off into the wind and rolls through groves of pecans, oaks, and elms. No. 8 is the best hole -- a tough par 4 that plays between trees on the right and water along the left side. The long approach on 8 must carry a bunker, and is particularly difficult because of the small green. Like the front, Pecan Lakes Golf Club's back nine opens up playing into the wind, with no. 10 playing 400 yards beside water. No. 11 goes 560 yards with a tricky approach that must carry a greenside water hazard. No. 18 is the longest par 4 (452 yards) and doglegs left around two bunkers, with water along the right.

My experience is that if you leave a head cover in th golf cart you'd better get back to th course fast !
Wayne isn't responsible for items left on th golf course's carts; even if employees take th items in to their front desk & hold them.
Fun day at Pecan Lakes
A buddy and myself played Pecan Lakes a 2nd time today. We were greeted by a friendly staff, had a little warm up time. Tee time was met on the dot. Course is in great shape for January in a Texas. We had a wonderful time....wind played havoc but that’s part of the fun. We were paired with a couple and enjoyed meeting new friends and playing with them. After the round we were thanked for playing. Overall a fun day, even enjoyed a brew or two playing. And all for $16 ea. We will be back

Very good course; I have trouble with no. 7 & 18, though Great value in our area. Bryan muni is gonna give them competition.
But, vou can't beat Wayne & their staff. All great folks. Just don't leave your 23degree club head cover on th cart; they will hold it - but - not be able to find where they stuck it and not accept responsibility for it. After all, "J888, you left it on th cart!"
Oh, well, I bought a replacement.

Okay you said people are way better than legendary Oaks are you referring to the staff or golfers and their etiquette out there on the golf course also how is the course compared to Legendary Oaks are greens/fairways as good: I've seen big improvements on legendary Oaks Golf Course

Very friendly staff. Greens are in horrible shape. Wouldn't play here again until greens are fixed.
Love this course
I love driving out to Navasota to play this course, some of the greens were in rough shape, staff very friendly, a great value, I’ll be back

Improving!
The last time I was on this course, the greens were in terrible condition.. It was nice to see that they are actively working on it, and though they weren’t great, they are getting better. Not easy to accomplish in Texas in August! Good job, Pecan Lakes. Keep it up!
Had a good round and a good first time experience
Drove from Houston to play in this course with my daughter for the first time and we were not disappointed. While the greens were being repaired, fairways were good for most part. While windy conditions made the play a bit challenging, it kept us cool for most of the round on a hot August afternoon. Staff were friendly and Gartorade lemon was refreshing after the round on a hot day.
Great Reaction From Staff
A huge shout out to the action taken by the young lady in the clubhouse on Sunday, she's very cordial and a hard worker! There was a foursome in front of us that obviously had zero golf experience and even less knowledge of golf etiquette. We witnessed them driving their cart on the green, not just right up to the green which is bad enough, and thinking nothing of it. Placed a quick call to the clubhouse and she immediately came out and spoke to them. As for the course, we've always enjoyed the layout and the fairways and tee boxes are in pretty good shape, unfortunately the situation on the greens is literally rough. Winter overseed with rye backfired on the course and with the cooler than normal spring the rye did not die out until May and kept the bermuda from coming in. Only time is going to fix that but the greenskeeper is working on it, a few more weeks and cooperative weather and the greens should finally recover.
Great course bad greens
Great course but the greens are the worse I have ever played. They told us about the greens before we played and are working to get them fixed. Talk to some club members aand they said the greens are usually in great condition. Hoping they get the greens fixed soon.
Terrible greens
Has to be the qorst grrens i have played on ever. So sad they are in this condition considering they are building new homes around this course.

What a ridiculous rating. This course has a great layout. It has great greens. It is always fun to play. I have been playing it since it opened. One of my all time favorites. And I have played lots of top courses.
