WestRidge Golf Course
About
WestRidge Golf Course is a unique Jeff Brauer design that features a user-friendly layout. The design tips out at a standard-looking 7,041 yards, however its combination of six par 3s (none over water), six par 4s, and six par 5s is far from normal. Brauer incorporated deep bunkers, natural areas, and lakes to accompany the huge, undulating greens that await hacks who become lazy after getting home in regulation. Other than the unique hole combination, WestRidge Golf Course's drive-able par 4s (nos. 1 and 13) are notable during the summer months because they play downwind and are good birdie opportunities.

Good course that played fast on a Saturday morning.....
I played the course, for the second time, on Saturday, May 18th at 11:07 am. The foursome that I was in were treated well the staff and the course played moderately difficult. The course was well maintained and we paid a reasonable price to play. We were all surprised at how quickly we played the 18 holes on a Saturday morning which made the round even more enjoyable. Good course!
Good, not great
The course is close to my home and I enjoy the layout with 6 par 5 holes. The fairways are in good condition and the course staff is friendly. However, multiple greens need some serious work. They did not come back from the winter and with summer nearing, there might be some issues.
Get out early and you'll be done in under 4 hours. Overall, I enjoy the course. It needs some work to get the greens back, but it's close by and they count on that fact.
Big fairways in solid condition with reasonably fast greens
I went on a weekday in the early afternoon and there was very little crowd. Outside my group we saw no one else around us and were able to make excellent time. Nice course which is well maintained.
Good Course
Great Shape. Glad to see sand in the bunkers. Pace of play was great Driving range needs to open early on Tuesday and close on Monday morning like other courses in area.
Fun Course & Staff
Course is in good shape. They run a good ship and have a starter at #1 tee during the busy times. Cart girls are fun and friendly.
Great course.
I was very pleased with the experience of Westridge from start to finish. The staff was very friendly and the course was in terrific shape. Greens are some of the best I have played in the area. All bunkers and traps are full of fluffy white sand and played true in the one I found. Love the layout. Variety is terrific. Great scoring chances with all the par 5s. I only have a mild issue with the $21 charge for a spectator. My wife joined me for this round and has accompanied me several times before at different courses. She doesn't play but its nice to share my two loves at one time. I had never been charged for her to simply ride along. I didnt mind paying. That said, it came across as mildly cheap considering that 10 mins before my tee time they called me back into the pro shop from the driving range to have me pay for her.
Great course, friendly staff and clean.
Overall, great experience. Coming from out of state, the grass is obviously different in Texas. Took some getting used to the "tight" fairway grass and a couple of damaged greens. Other than that, beautiful scenery, carts well maintained, fun course for the average golfer and wonderful atmosphere. We enjoyed.
Great value, great place to work on all aspects of your game
Since I'm currently ~20+ handicapper even this moderate difficulty course can be a challenge :-), I can attest that I used every club in my bag except for a hybrid on this course. It was a first time on the course, but it definitely will not be the last. Fairways and greens were in good shape, There were a couple of pin placements that were tough and near the front on downhill slopes that got the group into putting trouble :-)
The staff was friendly, cart girls came around several times to offer beverages, and the facilities were in good shape.
The practice range has it all to work on your long/short game between rounds: long driving, chipping green, practice bunker, putting green
Great varity of holes. Very nice par 5's
Fun to play 6 -3's,4's,and 5's!! You don't get tired of the 3's and 5's ,but you seem to miss the normal amount of 4's. Will do this agin very soon
Well maintained, crowded, slow green
Well maintained course. Too many houses all over the course and those are not so nice scenery though. Little competition around the ares makes this place crowded. It took ~5 hours to complete a round. Fairways are fair. Green is green and Ok, but its speed is a little too slow for my taste. I had difficulty adjusting to its speed. Some greens have many subtle breaks that are not apparent.
Great course, poor upkeep.
Overall Westridge is a fun, challenging course; however, the wear of winter is still obvious and the greens are beat up. They are doing a good job of getting the course ready for full blown golf season, but it has a ways to go once the weather complies.
This course plays different from every tee box which provides a nice alternative when in the mood. The fact the course is also the Devil's course (666) with six par threes, six par fours, and six par fives means you can either love it, or hate it, and nonetheless it makes for atypical outing.
I definitely suggesst giving Westridge a try, especially if you can catch a hot deal and don't have to pay full price.
Good course, rude marshall
I have played this course several times and like the overall design of having six par 3's, six par 4's and 6 par 5's. I was also looking forward to the new sand in the bunkers. We ended up not playing and got a refund due to the way we were treated by the marshall on the first tee. We were on the tee at our starting time and the marshall was yelling at us to get off the tee because it wasn't our turn. I don't have a problem stepping aside if it's not my turn, but he could've been a little more polite in how he approached us instead of yelling from a distance. We packed up, went to The Trails of Frisco and got right on. I'm sure I'll go back to Westridge, but it may be a while.
Open course. Bunkers undergoing renovation. Greens not great.
Overall a good course that is very open and fair. Good to see that work is underway to renovate the bunkers which were bad last year. Greens are not great. Had just played at a course in Frisco with great greens. West Ridge greens have so many undulating areas that is is difficult to see a hole placement on a relatively flat area. Great puts can roll off to the sides of holes by 10 or 12 feet on many holes. Not because they are too fast but rather due to holes seemingly places on sides of rolls in the greens.
Intersting layout....very busy course
I really like the layout with 6 Par 3's, 6 Par 4's and 6 Par 5's. The Staff is very friendly and accommodating, with a terrific practice facility.
The only negative is that they seem to overbook the tee-times, because the 2 times I have been there the tee-times are backed up at least 10 minute late, and the course has been VERY crowded.
It seems to be a very family friendly facility and environment, but at the cost of expecting 4-1/2 hour rounds.
Oh well, for the $20 I paid for an afternoon round... can't really complain much.
Drunk Cart Girl and Poor Player Etiquitte
What to say about this course. They are currently upgrading a lot of bunkers so it was almost like playing golden tee avoiding obstacles. The course itself is very challenging. 18 holes can take an easy 4-5 hours. The Pros- The guys in the pro shop were professional and courteous. The Cons- 1. Our cart girl was hammered. We ran into her on hole 4, and were assured she would be back. When we got to the back 9, we stopped off at the clubhouse (1 1/2 hours later), the cart girl was hanging out claiming she had a family emergency (ok then why are you still hanging out). The seem to have issues keeping their carts running. One of the staff was towing a cart in. While driving down the cart path he was completely oblivious to the players and drove on through while the warning beeper on his cart was going off. Too many kids on this course, we were on our second shot on a par 5 when the kids playing behind us decided not to wait for us to clear our second shot. I was grazed by a drive.
Great Coursre
The course is in good condition. They are doing some work to the bunkers, but all in all it is a great value.
Good course still working on it
This was the second time I played this course, and I could tell that they have been working on the bunkers to get them corrected. The regulars seemed to be agitated that we weren't playing fast enough, even though we finished in under four hours. Overall the course was fun, the newly reworked bunkers were good, and once the other bunkers get fixed I will probably give this a 4star.
Pick your tee box wisely, because there are very short and very long par fours.
Love the course layout it has something for every golfer.
The course layout is impressive and not overly crowded by houses like many of the courses DFW has to offer. The greens were in good shape and the bunkers that needed attention were under repair. All and all great bang for your buck!
Great minus construction
Other than the bunkers being under contruction, it was great! Also, booking a 3some before and after a 4some happens, but I wouldn't mind being bumped to allow the 3some after us to go ahead. They were clipping at our heels most of the day, and hit into us a couple of times.
Course is great! Staff is great! Food was great!
