Spring Valley Golf and Disc Golf Club
About
Spring Valley is the realization of the late, great Texan Vernon A. Roland, who grew up on the land, served the country in World War II, and became a successful businessman by running Houston's Roland Cleaners. A man who knew the land intimately, he originally purchased the land to run a sawmill but then he fell in love with the great game of golf, which inspired him to build this charming little 9-holer.
Roland opened this par-34, executive-like track in 1993 amid the tranquil beauty around Spring Creek. Roland's course is fun, sporting five par 4s well under 300 yards, three short-iron-only par 3s, and a reachable par 5 as the opening hole, which also happens to be the number one handicap.
Getting there : From Houston take I-45 north to FM 2920, then turn left under the freeway. Take 2920 to Rhodes Rd. and turn left on Spring Stuebner. Gosling road is ahead, where you'll turn right and drive 3 miles to the course.

Horrific Grass
6/9 greens were just holes plugged in the middle of the fairway. Hole number one was closed off entirely and appeared to be in the best condition. Course might be good in 5-10 years but there needs to be a bunch of of improvements made
You get what you pay for!
The course is so torn up! There are only 8 holes. The "greens" are impossible to put on. The grass is short in some places and no grass in others. I almost didn't want to hit the ball normally because I was afraid it would damage my clubs. They are making some adjustments to the course but overall, didn't like it.
Potential but not ready for prime time
The idea behind the course and amenities (food truck, pickle ball courts) makes it a great location for a fun outing with kids and friends. It is unfortunately not ready for golf play. Most greens are temporary greens of the fairway, and bunkers seem to have never been raked. I will surely come back in a few months to check it out.
This place is gonna be great!
New ownership took over a little over a year ago, and they are rehabbing the whole place. Paved cart path, bar carts, and the condition of the course itself were all omprovements already. Cant wait to come back and see the improvements continue!
I played at this course a long time ago under other management. The current management is making huge strides to put money back in this course and make it a very nice course. I can’t wait to see it when they are completely through with renovations and plan on playing there frequently.
It is anything else
I understand the course is under renovation, but it is better to shut it down until is gets minimum conditions to play golf. It is only valid to hit 9 shots from the tee.
When they finish the driving range and water it and put new greens , we’ll see. Today, it is a waste of time.
Should be great in a year or so
My rating is higher due to the potential this course has.
Downside is 7 of the flags were lying down due to water and sand inside the flag holes. This is currently an 8 hole course, they ask you to replay a hole to complete your score card.
Greens were uncut and bouncy, although the fairways are coming together fine. Chipping and putting spot is great.
$27 is a bit high for this course, but I’d give it another shot once the amities are completed.
Course is packed
The course was in rough shape. The holes are so close without foliage to help block others shots that I was almost hit. This course has Frisbee golf which popped people playing Frisbee golf out in front of me around hole three and again around hole six.
Give it a year
Lots of heavy equipment running on course digging and moving dirt. Sprinkler crew in the fairway digging trenches for sprinklers. Greens are basically just the end of the fairway with a hole in the ground. 4 holes in a row you’re swinging pitching wedge out of the tee box.
The course still needs work, but I’m glad they recognize that and have put and are putting money and effort Into making it a very nice course. I played this course several times with my son years ago under past management and it was like playing in a cow field. I’ve only played it twice now, but am really impressed with the improvement.
Great value play
If you’re looking to play a little golf and not take it too seriously this is the perfect place to go. Great place to enjoy a drink, eat some good food, and play golf. Keep your expectations of the actual golf course low and you can have a great time.
Not worth the money, course is in poor condition
I have played at this course many times but it was never that bad. The greens are in terrible condition and the tee box is pitiful. I wish I didn’t come back. It’s not even worth 15 dollars to pay here. They did not take good care of their course.
Had a great time!
Great time on the course. They are renovating the course, the management were all great and helpful
Playing for free here is expensive
Very bad conditions of the course in general, especially the greens, which are impossible to play. In the bunkers there is no way to play because of the number of footprints you get.
