Stone River Golf Club
About
Previously known as Aaki Ranch International Golf Course, Stone River Golf Club is a basic, homemade 18-hole track that opened in 1997, featuring rolling Bermuda pastures, manmade lakes, and young trees. Playing only 6,487 yards from the tips with minimal trees lining the fairways, you’ll be able to swing hard and let it rip.
Getting there : From Dallas, head east on I-30 for about 25 miles to exit 77B (FM35). Turn right at the stop onto FM 35, then continue about 1 mile. Turn right onto FM 2453 and drive another .5 miles. The golf course is on your right

Great Shape
The course is in absolutely fantastic shape. It has a very nice layout and though not extremely long, it is still challenging to most golfers. I wish that it was closer to my home so that I could play it on a more regular basis (because I live near Denton it was an hour's drive to get there), but I will be back.
Fast greens
Greens are really fast, going to need to put up some really nice flop shots with lots of backspin to get one to stop, fairways are wide and easy to play though.
Pleasantly surprised
Coarse was in real good shape good grass everywhere. Greens were alittle slow but looked good. I will be back!
Great course for the price
First time playing the course and it was nice. Greens were in great shape, fairways good and divots were not all over the place, and pace of play was 4 hrs w/o a wait time at the tee box.
Don't know why it's rating is so low.
-All the reviews are from over 6 years ago.
-Honestly this is the best course if you dont want to spend a lot.
- They fixed it up a bunch since the first time I played and its honestly probably the best value course as well.
- Back 9 has a beautiful layout
- Plus this course rewards good shots
- So hopefully people don't see the reviews and pass this course up just because of reviews 6 years ago.
Nice little track
I kept seeing this pop up in hot deals but was a bit hesitant for two reasons, a bit out of the way for me (45 minute drive), and low'ish rating (why take the extra drive for a poor course?). I finally pulled the trigger and I am glad I did. The course was inviting and in good shape. Greens rolled very true and fairways were cut well with some good "give". The layout was fun, 3 par 5's on the back. The course is short for a long hitter, but that doesn't mean it's not fun.
The staff was super friendly and helpful despite a cart shortage (I think we've probably all seen this a time or two recently with CV19). One complaint is the range is not attached to the main facility, it's out buried within the neighborhood, off of the 12 tee. If carts were available might not be an issue, but on my day they were not and I couldn't find the range, nor would I have been able to comfortably park to use it (must park on a neighborhood street). Not a huge issue though.
All in all, I will most likely be back!
Course
Overall
Fairways- 4/10
Greens- 3/10
This course needs some help!!!
Great course, well maintained
Striped fairways, good grass on tee boxes, greens in great shape and would hold a good shot. It is a bit confusing going from hole to hole because there is a lack of signs telling you where to go. Other than that the course played great. Mix of different holes, shortish par 4s and par 5s kept it fun! Will be back
Great day at stone river
Great time at Stone River, pace of play was excellent, course was in great condition.
Very Disappointed.
No one at desk when I arrived. Waited at least 5 minutes before someone saw me. Got right on the course. I felt rushed the entire front nine because no grouping of people a twosome, a single,a single, a twosome. There was hardly any grass on fairways and huge cracks in the fairways. Several holes I had no idea where the fairway was no definition.
it is a goat farm. fairways was in horrible shape.
Fairway in bad shape. Overall surrounding is not pleasant. Just a goat farm
Pleasantly surprised
This was my first time playing here. My expectations for this course were exceeded. Staff was friendly, the course was a lot better maintained than I expected. Overall I liked it and will play here again.
Not bad for the money
A very easy course that is in OK condition. Greens are in decent shape with fairways being playable. Off the fairway is not in good shape, but that is to be expected with the drought conditions we are currently in.
Not crowded so pace of play was great.
The course was in good shape and pace of play was great. The greens were slower than expected and a little bumpy. The staff was friendly and it was definitely worth a hot deal price. I would go there again.
Love their course
I like Stone River because I can play it well! Greens are very well maintained and fairways are quite adequate. It is light on the sand and water (which I appreciate) and short enough to play in under 4 hours. And when done, You'll feel good about your game!
Enjoyed playing this course. It is forgiving in that the fairways are open and there's very little water.
This course needs some attention, especially on the back nine. The greens were fuzzy, even for bermuda, so putted really slow. With that said, we had a great time. We got a great price and so that made it worth the time. The other golfers were really layed-back--no one pushing you to move on. The satff was very friendly and helpful. This would not be my first choice to play again, but for the price, it was fine.
Country value
Average course, pretty wide open fairways, little hazards.
Greens aeratred but no sand on green to fill in the holes. Greens extremely slow & bumpy.
First time to play here & will not be going back any time soon. I can play better courses for less money.
The course is currently too dry, overpriced!
This course is not maintained well. We played early on Saturday morning, and all of the greens were extremely dry. It appeared none of the greens had been watered that morning. In addition, two fairways had dead grass throughout. Not worth 40 dollars to play a round of golf.
