About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Stupid tee & pin placements
Whoever setup the tee boxes and pin placements is a moron and should be fired. The tees were located on sloped and uneven sections of the tee box. Par three holes were especially patchy so it was hard to find a good spot to hit from. Pin placements were a joke, but nobody was laughing. Hole #2 pin was literally 2 yards from the back of the green. I love this course because it’s challengng, but the setup took some of the fun out of it.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course With a course being over seeded it was in great shape. The layout is very interesting especially the last two homes. One of the best courses we played on this 2000 mile trip.

Very nice course. Really well maintained. Challenging holes for all levels of golfers. Courtesy warm up range balls were provided which was nice. Can’t wait to play there again and get a better score.

Greens not great
They had sanded the greens. You would think a discount would be applied for these conditions. Also wish they had a club/ball cleaner on the carts.

Need Better Signs!!!
This is a great place to play !!!!
But please add some LARGER SIGNS!
The Sign Pointing you to the Clubhouse off the main road in is located behind a tree!!!
Also the signs pointing you to the driving range (which is not close to the clubhouse) and 1st tee box and 9th tee box are so small and far apart you can miss them!
Again the staff and course are great!
