About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Always a great time in Blanco
Friendly staff that takes pride in their course. Greens were in excellent shape.
Awesome course
Was a beautiful course. Loved the layout. A course I would love to play again.
Great course, but soggy
Not sure why they are watering so much, especially #17. The front apron is so wet that the grass is dying. The whole course is pretty soft, but the greens are in great shape an roll true.
Vaaler Creek is a hidden gem
As always, Vaaler was a marvelous place to play. The turf was in fantastic condition, especially for late December a week after 3 days of hard freezing temperatures. Greens were smooth and rolling true. Good rough in most areas, though not severe and good shots were properly rewarded with a scoring opportunity. Started off as a single and joined up with a threesome on #8 and still managed to finish the round in around 3 1/2 hours. Absolutely love this course.
Great planning for freezing weather
Vaaler Creek got hit with 2.5 days of bitter freezing weather 12/22-24. The weather warmed up on 12:28 and I decided to play but expecting a mushy course. The ground crew must have taken great preparation to keep the course playable. The course looked like nothing had happened. Great work guys!

Great course
Great challenging course in excellent condition. Tee boxes, fairways & greens are all over seeded rye so course is green everywhere except the rough. Greens were absolutely pristine. I'll be back soon
Hill Country Treasure
My wife and I love this course! The conditions are amazing and the staff is super friendly and helpful!
Good Course but losing interest
No question this is a good course and fun to play. Always in good condition and staff is friendly. Our complaint is that prices are going up and for what purposes?? Play has gotten much slower. There are other courses in the area that, value wise, are much better options. Give Delaware Springs a try or Grey Rock.
