About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Perfect for golf
#4 green was in tough shape. A few dead sandy areas around a couple greens. The bunkers looked like they had no been worked on recently, potentially due to rain. Outside of that, the course is in great shape and looks ready to go for RHC 2021
Mostly Great !
Pro shop workers weren't very friendly but other then that it was a great experience.
Hill Country Treasure
Course in great shape . The 18th hole continues to challenge golfers. The weather was perfect.
Good experience
The course is challenging for any skill level given the tee boxes and hole layouts. Greens are very large, and undulated, so good lag putting is helpful. Fairways and greens in good shape. Rough is challenging, but reasonable. Staff was friendly. Overall, a good experience.
Always an enjoyable round
Vaalar Creek is always in good shape but right now it is great. The fairways and the rough are just beautiful. I like good rough; tall grass not tall weeds. The greens are a little soft and slow but we have had lots of rain. The greens run true though as always. A few spots on the greens are still recovering from our weird winter but they are recovering and obviously being addressed, unlike some places in the area. I played with a guy who hadn’t played there in years. He was really impressed and excited and is going to add it to his course rotation. I’ll always come back. Great value and worth the drive.

AWESOME CONDITION . LOVE THIS COURSE. GREAT SHAPE AFTER THE BAD FREEZE. TREMENDOUS HOME BUILDING HERE AS WELL. LOVE IT.
Hidden Gem
Just far enough away from San Antonio and Austin, this course does not disappoint. Fair and challenging for any golfer. Greens are very large, so invites three-putts if you are not careful. Vehicles traveling the roads do not seem to “see” golf carts that must cross the road several times during the round to get to the next tee box. Marshal is visible. Snack bar is very good, but no cart service on course today. Staff in pro shop could be much more welcoming and friendly. Overall, a very good track.

Great Hill Country Golf !!!
We have played out here 3 times now - each time has been a terrific round of golf. The course is challenging but also rewarding if you hit a good shot. Grass on the fairways and greens are really good - even with the freeze the greens are in good shape. We really enjoy the elevation changes - and how pretty the course is at all times. Look forward to many more rounds at Vaaler Creek.
Always a pleasure
I've played Vaaler several times now and it never disappoints. Even only a couple weeks out from aeration and sanding of the greens, they were near perfect! The greenskeeper is a magician! If you've never made the trip to Blanco, I highly recommend you do it. Vaaler Creek is a true hidden gem!
