About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

AS GOOD AS THEY COME
AWESOME CONDITION . LOVE THIS COURSE. GREAT SHAPE AFTER THE BAD FREEZE. TREMENDOUS HOME BUILDING HERE AS WELL. LOVE IT.
Hidden Gem
Just far enough away from San Antonio and Austin, this course does not disappoint. Fair and challenging for any golfer. Greens are very large, so invites three-putts if you are not careful. Vehicles traveling the roads do not seem to “see” golf carts that must cross the road several times during the round to get to the next tee box. Marshal is visible. Snack bar is very good, but no cart service on course today. Staff in pro shop could be much more welcoming and friendly. Overall, a very good track.

Great Hill Country Golf !!!
We have played out here 3 times now - each time has been a terrific round of golf. The course is challenging but also rewarding if you hit a good shot. Grass on the fairways and greens are really good - even with the freeze the greens are in good shape. We really enjoy the elevation changes - and how pretty the course is at all times. Look forward to many more rounds at Vaaler Creek.
Always a pleasure
I've played Vaaler several times now and it never disappoints. Even only a couple weeks out from aeration and sanding of the greens, they were near perfect! The greenskeeper is a magician! If you've never made the trip to Blanco, I highly recommend you do it. Vaaler Creek is a true hidden gem!

Great track. Fairways and greens are in great condition. Played a busy Saturday so the round was slower than expected but not crazy long.
No longer a Hill Country gem
I’ve been playing this course for two years and the course conditions are steadily going downhill. Significant turf loss around the greens, approaches and some fairways. Tee boxes are horrible dirt patches and the practice area has always been poor but now it’s even worse. I wouldn’t make a 30 minute drive to play this course.

Great course! Great layout. Fairways were good and the greens were close to good. I would recommend it to anyone.
We will come back
Loved this course! We will be back. The course was absolutely beautiful and the views were spectacular. We saw deer from time to time on the side of the fairways. My wife got her first birdie on 16. We had a great time.
Greens were sanded and tough to putt. We were not alerted to this issue prior to the round. After quick front nine, very slow back with no Marshall. No balls available on the Driving Range for our 12:30 tee time. Bathrooms were unattended and dirty. I did like the layout because I played it previously.

Tee to green was perfect. Well manicured throughout. Greens were recently sanded and weren’t mowed. Not even worth putting on. Frustrating
