About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Vaaler Creek
Great track. Fairways and greens are in great condition. Played a busy Saturday so the round was slower than expected but not crazy long.
No longer a Hill Country gem
I’ve been playing this course for two years and the course conditions are steadily going downhill. Significant turf loss around the greens, approaches and some fairways. Tee boxes are horrible dirt patches and the practice area has always been poor but now it’s even worse. I wouldn’t make a 30 minute drive to play this course.

Great course! Great layout. Fairways were good and the greens were close to good. I would recommend it to anyone.

Loved this course! We will be back. The course was absolutely beautiful and the views were spectacular. We saw deer from time to time on the side of the fairways. My wife got her first birdie on 16. We had a great time.
Greens were sanded and tough to putt. We were not alerted to this issue prior to the round. After quick front nine, very slow back with no Marshall. No balls available on the Driving Range for our 12:30 tee time. Bathrooms were unattended and dirty. I did like the layout because I played it previously.

First time
Tee to green was perfect. Well manicured throughout. Greens were recently sanded and weren’t mowed. Not even worth putting on. Frustrating
Vaaler Creek-Great Track
Fun course to play. Many of the shots need to be placed. Some tricky greens to putt. Two very difficult finishing holes.
Beware of number two!!
Toughest hole on the course!! Very challenging but total fun throughout all 18 holes perfect weather and lots of scenery for my spectator wife to enjoy
Great round of golf
Had a very enjoyable round of golf. The course was in great condition. The greens were rolling true.
Great experience!
My husband and I played golf at this course on May 10, 2021. We played with two other people one was Gilbert Lopez, who works at the course to maintain the immaculate fairways and greens. The layout was beautiful yet challenging. The fairway grass was probably better than most PGA courses… I would definitely recommend this course, You won’t be disappointed! Gilbert Lopez takes pride in his work and it shows!
Will be back to play.
Hidden gem
Great country track. Lil crazy lay out going from hole to holes and the range but who cares right.? Super cool holes and well maintained. The dude in the pro shop was a lil rude but the marshal and the crew at the grill were awesome!
