Vaaler Creek Golf Club
About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

JD
One of the best courses I have played in my 50 plus years of playing !
Course is in great shape
Hard to believe Vaaler Creek is in such great shape. The fairways are lush, the greens are awesome. I can’t say enough good things about it. Especially, since there hasn’t been meaningful rainfall in quite a while.
The folks in charge are doing an excellent job keeping the course up.
I can’t wait to play it again
Vaaler golf course
The course is in great condition. The greens are in pristine condition and tne fairwaus are being watered and are also in excellent condition. I highly recommend this course to everyone that enjoy a true challenge and enjoy getting back to nature with all the wild life around this course. A true central Texas gem!
What a gem in the Hill Country
Best cart paths in Texas. Beautiful, challenging course. Loved that last hole - the best for last. Outstanding condition. Will return.
Fun Course
Third time I played this course. Great layout and course is in great shape. Green speeds were much better this time. Two very tough finishing holes that you will challenge you.
Vaaler
Course was in great shape save the greens being a bit slow and bumpy, other than that it was excellent.
Great course, but don't expect to play at a normal pace.
The course is beautiful, but 5 hours to play a round of golf on a Monday, is ridiculous and hard to enjoy.
Great track
Second time I played the course. Great layout with some really interesting holes finishing with the difficult 18th. Would be raving about the course except that the greens were so slow
Fun times
First time here and will be back. Not a difficult track but definitely tests your skills. Wasn’t easy either. Lots of fun was had by all.
Fair price for nice course
This course is kept in very good condition. There are some tight fairways and a few opportunities to go for for it if you are feeling good.
My first time playing there was cart service, but this Friday we were out from 8-12p and had no encounter with service.
Part of our team ordered food by direct line at the 8th and it was waiting for them in the clubhouse at the turn.
While not overly challenging, it is also not overpriced. Especially for carts with GPS.
Very nice, old time course
It was so nice to play a course where you have to think your way around the course., not just grip it and rip it. You have to really think about hitting driver on a few holes. Lots of severe doglegs. Classic course layout in a beautiful bucolic area of the Hill Country.
Worth the drive!
Very enjoyable experience. We had to drive 1 hour, but it was well worth it. Very female golfer friendly -- women's tees are very fair. Highly recommend it.
Great shape, even after aerification.
Greens were punched a couple of weeks ago, which I knew about beforehand. Still pitted pretty well, not too bumpy. Fairways in great shape, same with the tee boxes. Only complaint was a local 4 some were very slow, and held up several groups including my twosome. Refused to let anyone play through.
Golf course is in great condition
While the greens have been recently punched, they will soon be in good condition, The fairways are in great condition. I played in about 3 hours. Overall, a great experience. However, I wish the staff would be a bit more careful with COVID protection, as no one is wearing masks and a lot of the players are just not respecting social distancing requirements.
A few surprises
Started off very nice, but the reality of some blind shots set in... still was very pleased with the course! Greens were a little slow - punched not long ago.... worth the time to head to Blanco...
