Vaaler Creek Golf Club
About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

super
I've been playing this course for about 10 years. It is exactly 1/2 between San Antonio an d Austin. I meet my brother there to play and especially enjoy their monthly 2 man and 4 man scrambles (which are an excellent deal). Would recommend it to anyone.
Sunday Funday
Amazing time on the course. This place is in great shape with it being winter in Texas. Fairways were good, green cut and smooth. Luckily only visited on sand trap and it was nice dry and fluffy sand.
Staff was were super friendly and the cart attendant came by like 5 times.
Worth It
Wonderful course that is absolutely worth the drive. Played here for the second time and immediately wondered why I don’t play it more often. The course isn’t that long and the lines to take off the tee aren’t hard to figure out (GPS in carts). The tricky part is the approach shots. Greens are multi-leveled and short game can be difficult. Don’t expect to shoot your normal score but it won’t be anything crazy. It’s a fun challenge and great to play if you want to mix things up.
Difficult but great design
This couse is a challenging, well manicured course that is fun to play. If you score well here, you have had a good golfing day!
This course is always a fun time
The course is in excellent condition with over seeded fairways and smooth rolling greens. Always one of my favorites when I am in the hill country.
Just a great golf course
This is a beautiful yet challenging course. The greens tend to have significant slope but they are fair. This course rewards you for strategically place drives off the tee. That means leaving the driver in the bag on some holes. This is an overall great value and fun course.
Drop Zones Needed
Holes 2, 9, 12, and 18 need drop areas for balls hit into the water. Those holes are beasts (too hard) for anyone but low handicappers. Number 2 demands a drop area.
The course is supposed to be fun for older retirees that want to play often.
The course is extremely well maintained and very picturesque.
Golf Now cheated Me !
Course was fine but I had a $20 discount code for Hot Deals and you would not honor it when I booked ....
Seems like every time I want to use any of your discounts there is some catch to cheat me out of It !
Overall Very Pleased! Will Be Back!
The layouts on every hole make this course very fun. Each hole has a little twist and can be challenging to the beginner/ average golfer. The greens were in admirable shape for being November, and they overseeded the fairways to compensate for the colder weather ahead! I will definitely be back for another round out at Vaaler Creek!
Nice layout and the course is in great shape. The pro was very friendly and so were the course ambassadors. Since it had rained and it was golf path only I wished they would have marker yardage better. #18 was a tough hole!
Top 3 Hill country course...
This course is one of the best in the area if you have a chance to play it you should.
Worth the trip!
Vaaler Creek is a great "off the beaten path" course that is worth the trip. Conditions are always good to excellent. The past few years they have over-seeded in the winter, so you can still play a green course in January.
