About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Find Somewhere Else
This is not a local course; you've got to travel and want to play it unless you happen to live near. NO notice was given that the greens were heavily sanded and unplayable. No discounts were given, no range comp, etc. When asked in shop about lack of notice regarding the greens, they claimed it was "posted" and dismissed the fact we all traveled an hour to play. Tee boxes are domed (doomed) and sloped (sloppy). For the money there are many better options in central TX. It's the last time we play there.

Vaaler Creek is a must play. The setting in the hill country is beautiful. The course looks fantastic at the moment. Don’t think. Just go play and enjoy!
Vaaler Creek meets expectations
One of the best conditioned courses in the San Antonio area that we've played recently. Great greens, plush fairways. Pace of play was great, finished in 4 hours and 10 minutes.
Strongly recoommend.

The course is beautiful and great shape and challenging.
Green was slow though... Only thing don’t care about it was club House and bathrooms are terrible.
Great course but watch the wind.
I love this course. Maybe I’m unlucky, but every time I’ve played there it is extremely windy. I’m starting to think it is always like that.
Emerald Green
The course was in great condition. The fairways were perfect with a great lie everywhere. Rough was cut low and not very penal. Greens were in great shape, rolled true but were not very fast. A number of very pretty and memorable holes on this course.

This course is by far the best in the New Braunfels/Blanco area.
In great shape
Played early May and the course was in great shape tee to green. Finger's crossed the course will stay this way all summer long. What a treat! We did get behind a tournament of some kind and the pace of play went from very fast to a turtle. I'm guessing it was a men's member league as there was not a marshal in sight. Oh well, these things happen.

Course had much rain night before, so cart paths only. Greens & fairways were in great shape. Very nice setting and a well manicured course.
Quiet and Fun
Some of the best playing surfaces in San Antonio area. Greens are true, maybe a tad slow. Fairways are beautiful, no bad lies. Tee boxes could use some work to bring to tip top. Slowww group ahead of me and no Marshalls. Overall, I loved it. I'll play again for 50-60 bucks.
Best Course played this spring
We are in San Antonio TX for the month of April and have been playing courses. This course is in the best shape and has some beautiful holes in all the courses we have played. Will come back again! Narrow Fairways but great layout.
Not disappointed
One of the best courses in the area. If it wasn’t so far from home this would be my go-to course.

Slow and a little fuzzy but thank god! The pins were all on some tough shelf’s.
