About
Conveniently located near downtown San Antonio not too far from Austin, Vaaler Creek Golf Club has a memorable layout of gently rolling hills dotted with creeks, ponds and lakes. The course begins with a challenging front nine and then eases up a bit on the back nine, but overall it is a formidable test. The greens are tricky and demanding, especially on the front nine where there are some severe slopes and undulations. The back nine greens are a bit flatter but they still require careful attention. The rolling, contoured fairways are lined with trees and there are deep bunkers strategically guarding the greens, but luckily there are only seventeen of them. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are also several doglegs and blind shots if there wasn’t enough to keep you on your toes.

Greens are trash
I mean honestly maybe a $45 course. And if youre going to allow 3:30pm t-times then you need to have the clubhouse open at minimum 4 hours after the t-time (thats how long you say it takes to do the course.) we were finished by 7:20. A member behind us accidentally left a club that was turned in and the cart boys do not have a key to the club house. No cart person for alcohol. Half of the greens were garbage with 10x20’ 1” deep craters making putting hard.
I love the course but the greens where pretty bad
I love the course but the greens where cut high and there where several greens that where awful. One of them was plugged with new grass and it was almost the entire green.
But we had a good time!
Good as always.
14 green was pretty bad and a couple others spotty, other than that, the rest were maybe a little slower than normal. Fairways nice. Staff nice as always. A pleasure to play here.
Wonderful conditions for August in Texas
I’m always skeptical when I play a course that’s off the beaten path in the middle of summer in Texas. Vaaler Creek was a pleasant surprise to find a course in such great condition despite the 100 degree days we’ve had throughout August. The fairways were in great shape and healthy; the greens were a little long and slow but was an understanding necessity because the looked beautiful. I would highly recommend a round here if you’re in this area of the hill country looking for an enjoyable round of golf.
I didn’t get to place as my day got changed by y’all, I was supposed to play Thursday the 15 th and found the course closed, while unbnost to me golf now changed the date. Y’all owe me 7 bucks and change.

Great course
Considering the drought we are in, this course is in excellent shape. Fairways are good, greens are good, tee boxes are fair. The course itself is interesting and challenging.
