Greens in excellent shape. Fairways well kept, a little weedy in a few spots. Second cut was a bit too long. Too many bunkers were GUR. Disappointed many water features were dry, probably won't be after hurricane Harvey. Staff very friendly.

Great course. Always a fun layout. Good design that makes you hit all your clubs.

The only issue I had is that the greens were punched or heavily verticut and heavily sanded. Typically no issue since courses have to punch, but I called the course the day before play and the lady in the shop assured me that the greens were perfect. Told her we weren't driving all the way from SA if they sucked. Wish we had stayed home! She even checked the maintenance schedule and said they punched the first week of June and that the course was in great shape.

Waste of time to play here right now. let this be the warning since the course won't!

First time playing Valaar creek and was not disappointed at all ! A great course with some challenging holes and some easier ones to even it out. GPS on carts, staff was very friendly , driving range/putting green in great shape. Fairways were like hitting off a carpet, very well maintained considering 100 degree weather in Texas right now. About 1 hour from my place in San Antonio and will definitely play here again! I read a review that called it a "hidden gem". I fully agree !

Vaaler Creek really is a hidden gem in Texas hill country. Slightly off the beaten path located in a ranch, it's worth the trip. The conditions of the course were great the day we were there except for the few "grounds under repair". They really do not hinder any play at all, but can't give 5 stars because they've been under repair now for a year. Would be great bunkers if made into them. The greens have recovered great from the early June aeration. Some rain would do the course nice as some of the ponds are getting a little low. Fairways looked great. Had been soaked from the sprinklers earlier, but understandable considering the 96 degree day heat we played in. Awesome layout. Great variety of holes. Carts with GPS are best around. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to play a course off the path a bit.

It was a Monday and we arrived early for a 12:30pm tee time. A little practice and we were teeing off. We were a twosome and there was a twosome in front of us, so we thought it would be a good day and perhaps a 3 1/2 hour round. We enjoyed the course even though the greens had been aerated and we're a bit rough. Most pin placements were in the front, which we assumed was to keep golfers off the main portions of the greens so they could recover. Unfortunately, somewhere along the line PRIOR to the end of the first nine, the twosome in front of us became a FIVESOME. Slowed play considerably and there was NO golf courtesy .... they never waived us through which was horrible!!! So, we waited on these morons forever and we never saw a marshall on the course. The round turned into a 4 1/2 plus hour experience. Fortunately, my partner and I enjoyed each others company. We're better than average players so you can imagine how frustrating it was to constantly wait for the fivesome. Good grief!! Nice course though .... guess they're trying to figure out what to do with a number of "ground under repair areas" on the course. Weed control around the greens could also be improved. Should be really nice when the greens come back and the "ground under repair" areas are fixed. It was a drive for us to play this course so we were very diasppointed with the SLOW fivesome scenario.

So fun to play! Layout is fun a few good risk reward holes..when you play it don't be to proud to club up,a couple holes short is dead 18 is one of the best finishing holes i know .most of us use 2 clubs up.go play you will love it.

The layout is great and challenging. Fairways are very nice. Greens although just punched and sanded were fun to experience. The undulations are like none I've ever played. They putted smoothly despite the recent aerification. Sand traps detract from the course and haven't been tended for weeks ? If they require too much labor to maintain, why not just cover them up and make them fairway ?

Several bunkers have been under repair for at least 6months with no progress made. Greens were punched and on Several holes the plugs were dumped just off the putting surface creating a man made obstruction for no reason.

If you're an avid golfer that Respects flat tee boxes, groomed smooth fairways & perfect greens this will be your dream come true. I look forward to my next experience at Vaaler Creek. I will say Vaaler hasn't spared any expense on their course care but don't go there looking for the wine & dine experience. Great course for all players that enjoy the game.

This course is great for good players and tuff for hackers. Must keep it in play and use all your clubs in the bag.

I never write reviews but this course deserves one. This was my first time ever playing this course and I am here to tell you that I had a blast. The course requires you to really think about your club selection. The fairways and greens were in great condition. It was worth the drive from Austin. I look forward to playing this course again soon.

Always enjoy playing Vaaler Creek. Course conditions and pace of play are great, and staff is very friendly. Several challenging holes requiring good drives. And a number of greens are very undulating.....depending on pin placement can test your putting skills. Fairways are in great shape and greens are essentially flawless. Overall this is one of my most favorite courses.

This is a must course for people who want to get away from the city (Austin or San Anton). A bit of a drive but well worth it! Course is great shape and both staff & other people very friendly.

This course is absolutely amazing, the shape was impeccable , the greens are in absolutely great condition as well as the fairways, a hidden gem in the hill country that's a must play. The only complaint was the bunkers where washed out because of the recent rain, which is understandable.

The course was in great shape, staff very accommodating. A good test for golfers who enjoy challenging shots.
