Vaaler Creek Golf Club

I was presently surprise to find such an aesthetically pleasing course layout this tucked away in the hills. The course is in great shape barring a couple bunkers with maintenance, they also have some great risk- reward holes. I will definitely be back !!!

The course had a nice blend of open shot to target golf. The greens are in excellent condition. They are receptive and large. You have to be in the right position on the green to score, wrong location easy 3 putt.

Great course to play.

The greens and fairways were very but were still responsive to spin. All of the greens rolled true. that Some of the tee boxes were beat up, especially on the par 3'. Overall a good course with great value.

Visiting from Kansas City. Got paired up with another single golfer. Both of us commented many times during the round how nice the course was. Beautiful picture taking views and course in excellent shape. Highly recommend.

Many holes have interesting challenges, mostly of the liquid variety. #10 has to be the signature hole, a par 5 with a split -level fairway, then an approach that requires you to go over a creek and uphill. Many holes have interesting layouts like this.

The day I went it was raining continuously, but the greens drained so well that there wasn't even a rooster tail of water coming off my ball as I putted. The greens played pretty much the same as they do when they're dry; kudos to the greenskeepers.

I rated 4/5 on course conditions only because they were redoing several sand traps, but when they're done, it'd be a 5/5 as well.

This course is in as good of shape as you will see in South Texas. I definitely recommend this to anyone.

Vaaler Creek was a hidden gem. North of SA and south of Austin, it's a little in the country. Beautiful course. Had a few elevation changes, but nothing extreme as many of the hill country courses have around the area. Conditions were 4-5 stars. Greens looked great and putted very true. Fairways were green. Tee boxes were in good condition. 4 out of 5. A few (maybe 4) bunkers are being repaired around the course. Water features were well placed and among the best for any course I've played. True 4-5 star course. Worth playing for anyone around the area.

This course is one of our local favorites. It is generally in great shape. I would usually rate it a 5 but this round the bunkers were hard packed after a recent rain and one of the par 3's had some construction which does not affect play. This is an extremely long course which is not walking friendly since arriving at hole 1 and 9 requires a considerable distance along a community road. Their carts are great though and have GPS. Beware these carts will stop you from driving anywhere it considers out of bounds. For some reason that was a couple of the normal par 4 fairways this round. Seems to have been a malfunction of the cart since it was not a day of cart path only. Also the driving range is separated by the same road. Those small things aside, I would highly recommend this course. It is a fun mixture of beautiful but challenging holes.

I've probably played here 10-12 times now and I have honestly never had a bad experience. The course is always in great shape, the food is always good, and the staff is always great. I feel very comfortable when I come here, a few other reviews have mentioned this and it's worth mentioning again but there is a very laid back atmosphere at Vaaler.

Pace of play was good, played in a threesome and took about 3 hours and 15 minutes. I've never played here on a weekend so I can't speak for the pace of play on weekends. 6 months ago I had never played here and I played the majority of my golf at 4 or 5 other courses in the area. After playing here for the first time I've chosen Vaaler 10 of my last 15 rounds of golf. It's just really hard to find a better course/service/price unless you want to spend $150 and play at TPC-SA or LaCantera.

I can't believe this place exists, what a perfect daily getaway. My first time playing and from this point forward it will be a frequent stop for me. The staff was incredibly helpful and treated me like family even though it was my first time. They made me feel very welcome and helped me find my way around. Most golf courses treat customers like an assembly line but not here. The food at the snack shack was very good and I like the fact that everything is very spread out. The golf course itself couldn't have been any better, I've played courses in worse shape for twice the price. Tough holes with some difficult greens but the beauty of the course makes it for an enjoyable round no matter how good/bad you play. Management has done a great job creating a very laid back atmosphere. I had read the reviews about this course on a few different sites and had to check it out for myself. Also a great website and facebook page that is very up to date. All around very impressed, no complaints whatsoever

Quick note worthy of mentioning: I asked the staff after my round if the course was always in this good of shape and he said yes except when we do our aerification and overseed process.....which he proceeded to give me the dates for, most courses don't mention the little things like that.

Played the course yesterday for first time. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Some good, challenging holes. Not a good course for walking. A good 400 yards between some holes. Overall, a very good course.

This course is awesome. I played it during a winter vacation to San Antonio. The drive on 281 was easy, the staff was friendly and the course was well prepared. I only played through one group who was very friendly. Everyone was very laid back. The electric GPS carts were nice and the snack bar was easily accessible. I will be coming back next winter

Fantastic course! Only around an hour from Downtown Austin, this course has a beautifully-scattered layout with a great mix of hole layouts. Majestic water views and hazards accompany deep, well-groomed bunkers and pristine fairway conditions. The greens are beautiful and provide the greatest challenge I've faced yet in Austin, but if you're not willing to be challenged, why even own a pair of spikes? Use your golf cart GPS to assist with blind shots and layups or you'll pay for it. Depending on your distance off the tee, check your pride at the clubhouse - you'll want to adjust clubs on the tee box and from the fairway to play direction versus distance. Don't waste your time deciding between courses. Play Vaaler. Take the peaceful drive. Enjoy a gorgeous course.

What an amazing course tucked in the Texas Hill Country. Even with winds blowing 30mph it was another amazing round of golf.

The course was in great condition, especially the greens. Would highly recommend this course.

The course was in great shape considering the January timing. I've played the course four years ago and it has gotten better as it has matured.

Very enjoyable experience at VC! Great layout and seems to always be in great shape, along with great hill country views. Had two threesomes of which 4 guests had never played before. They really enjoyed the course. Working on sand traps at present but should be complete soon. Great practice area and pavilion snack bar has quality menu and service.
