About
Located just 15 minutes northeast of downtown Austin, ShadowGlen Golf Course is considered by locals to be one of the area's hidden gems. At 7,174 yards from the back tees, it is a long, tough course that will test even the most seasoned players. Some consider it to be the most difficult public golf course in Texas. The layout has a links design that is mostly flat but there are a few hilly spots that can cause some trouble, especially the holes that were designed with steep drops. The narrow fairways require accuracy and the well manicured greens play fast and are often bordered by strategically placed bunkers or contoured mounding. There are also water hazards coming into play throughout, including the wandering creek that cuts across the golf course.

Great conditions and value
Great course for the price and the greens and fairways are in excellent condition compared to others in the same price range. Holes are spaced out and not on running alongside each other, which can be the case with some of the Austin courses.
Busy, due to COVID-19, but in great shape
This was my first time at ShadowGlen, and it did not disappoint. The greens were in great shape, a little hard, but rolled true. The fairways were impeccable. Some of the tee boxes (I played gold) could use work, but overall it was worth every cent. There are some tough holes (the par 5s on the back), so don’t be afraid to play the easier tees. Definitely recommend a round out here. Also, the clubhouse has great beers on draft for after the round, and a very friendly and cute staff.
Great Course, Great Condition
Course is in excellent condition, you can tell they are putting money back into the course and making it even better. Will be back!
Really challenging, great value
Great day on a very well maintained course. Super challenging track so be ready for a higher score, but very fair. Only gripe is being right off the highway for a good bit of the front 9 but theres no fixing that. Will be back.
Cheering Section Hole 2
The pace of play was slow. The group in front of us had three carts and were VERY selective of their shots, which ended up poorly after swinging anyway. Overall, the course itself was in fairly good shape. Good greens, well kept fairways, and looked good. The sand bunkers are awful, like hitting off the cart path.
Beware hole number 2. There is a washed up old man living there who loves to scream at people on the fairway. If you want a real treat, accidentally hit your ball even remotely near his fence, he thinks he is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and will come scream during your shots. Almost worth the price of admission itself.
Tough course
Not sure why they flip flop first nine holes with back nine, its SUCKS.
GREAT COURSE
Play this course couple times a month. Challenging but fair course. Good tee box selection to fit player handicap . Having played yesterday, the greens are in excellent condition. Amazing considering the amount of play. Great to see they are continuing with ongoing upgrades, improvements to the course. Friendly, positive staff and ownership. Worth every penny. Thank you.
Links mix
I like a links style course but when you add that with oaks and mesquite trees it can make it frustrating. I enjoyed playing just be prepared for a different kind of challenge
Great course
Shadow Glenn is a great course with different elevations, tricky bunker and water hazards.

Hills hills hills
Very much a link style. Some holes are set up harder than need be. Bunkers need work and tee boxes need a little sod. Good staff and a decent course
Nice course
Could use a marshall. Sand traps are needing improvement. Other then that nice course. Difficult, lots of blind shots. Will play again.
Thanks for your review, pace of play is something that will always be a focus of ours and we are working on having the course marshalled at all times.
The bunkers are also something we plan on renovating, however due to the extremely costly nature of a project there are other improvements we plan on making first
