About
Located just 15 minutes northeast of downtown Austin, ShadowGlen Golf Course is considered by locals to be one of the area's hidden gems. At 7,174 yards from the back tees, it is a long, tough course that will test even the most seasoned players. Some consider it to be the most difficult public golf course in Texas. The layout has a links design that is mostly flat but there are a few hilly spots that can cause some trouble, especially the holes that were designed with steep drops. The narrow fairways require accuracy and the well manicured greens play fast and are often bordered by strategically placed bunkers or contoured mounding. There are also water hazards coming into play throughout, including the wandering creek that cuts across the golf course.

Links mix
I like a links style course but when you add that with oaks and mesquite trees it can make it frustrating. I enjoyed playing just be prepared for a different kind of challenge
Great course
Shadow Glenn is a great course with different elevations, tricky bunker and water hazards.

Hills hills hills
Very much a link style. Some holes are set up harder than need be. Bunkers need work and tee boxes need a little sod. Good staff and a decent course
Nice course
Could use a marshall. Sand traps are needing improvement. Other then that nice course. Difficult, lots of blind shots. Will play again.
Thanks for your review, pace of play is something that will always be a focus of ours and we are working on having the course marshalled at all times.
The bunkers are also something we plan on renovating, however due to the extremely costly nature of a project there are other improvements we plan on making first
Lack Of Information
I really like this course a lot for it’s excellent course condition and layout for the cost. My grievance is charging $60 (which I have no problem paying for this course) and not informing anyone that the greens were punched. I understand this process needs to happen in order to maintain the course but at least INFORM us they are punched so we can have the option to play somewhere else or maybe reduce your rate to 30-40 dollars. But to not inform your customer’s is just plain lazy.
My youth...... There was like 15 signs up around the clubhouse and when you booked online or over the website there was an alert that said recent aerification you would have had to have been baked out of your mind not to tell
Nice club
I had never been to Shadowglen golf course and I was very impressed with the staff and how nice the club was. The golf cart were more upgraded than a public course. The course was in excellent shape and I LOVE the fact they had a refreshment cart coming around to see if you need anything. Now I got a hotdeal off of golfnow and that is why my greens fees were reasonable otherwise its a little expensive but it makes sense its a golf club not a public course. You get nice amenities and that is what you pay for which is what the green fees are for. I found the course extremely challenging but it is for a more advanced player. I am a beginner but you will still have a great time. Take advantage of this great club. Their pro shop and their bar and grill are outstanding.
Go enjoy yourself at this luxurious golf course its worth the money.
Great course

Got stuck behind a group of serious amateurs on 14, by the last hole, we had 3 groups on the tee waiting. One older gentleman our group hit the fairway from the tee, wind and terrain pushed it on the green where the amateurs were. They picked up the guys ball threw it In the woods, would’ve been his first legit eagle attempt ever. Overall a great place, but if they’re going to pack the course w golfers, they need a marshal.
Challenging course
I am A beginner this course was tough but challenging. Players should be aware lots of valleys bunkers a few water holes hills. I loved the fact that had a refreshment cart that came around all day. Course was in excellent shape. Staff really friendly they have a 19th hole that is open wearing a mask in clubhouse due to corona virus. I loved it. Didn’t play well but who cares had a great time. It will challenge all levels of players. Highly recommend it. They have a putting green also. Go check it out for yourself.
Great value
I’ve always enjoyed playing here despite the fact that it is on the opposite side of town (circle c). Best value. Great layout. I love the par 5 16th hole. 18 is kind of gimmicky for a finishing hole but that’s ok. Shot 70 from the blue tees. Says the slope was 137. I think it is more of 126-128. I will come back for sure.
Needs attention
Shadow Glen is a potentially great course made average at best by inattention to upkeep & management. To say it was rough around the edges is an understatement. There was a lot of unmown long grass & weed-grass in the fairways, hard pan dirt in areas that are just worn out. Some of the tee boxes were missing markers. Was playing blue tees, but couldn’t find them on two or three holes (they just plain weren’t there). Good layout and design but needs some management/leadership. I can play superior courses for less throughout the area.
Dang Terry you shoot a 90 or something? Don't think you're playing superior courses for less money, but maybe ones that are easier!
Long holds with some hills.
Few par threes with some loooong holes. I’m not the best golfer so it was a challenge. I will be coming back for sure.

The greens were so bumpy and that the bunkers were filled with mud and water plus had a bunch of weeds growing in the fairways and rough
