The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

At one time this was a beautiful course, unfortunately at the time of this review it is unplayable. Not sure what is going on but don't waste your money until things improve. Greens, sand traps are absolutely horrible and fairways aren't far behind. I hope they get control of the course again I hate to see it in this condition.

Long grassy fairways, long tee box grass, greens were terrible

There was no one working the counter to get refreshments.

The court stopped working on the fifth hole and another court had to be brought to us.

We would like to believe that the greens had been changed and fixed.

The greens were in terrible shape and were the worst conditions I have ever played golf in, and I’ve been playing golf for 50 years.

If your Iron game and different shots it’s worth it and Better ThanThe Range.. Itts a Great Course but in Poor Condition. The Fairways are Great but could use a Mow as well as the rough.

There were no disclaimers indicating that the greens are not playable. The course has deteriorated significantly. At one time, this course was very well maintained. The owners should be ashamed to charge a green fee to play here. I hope someone buys this place and restores it to its former glory.

Golfnow and Atchafalaya should be required to have a disclaimer that the greens are under repair. They were unplayable. Charging full price for a course that has unplayable greens is criminal.

First, it’s temporary greens. I understand this as the greens need work. Unfortunately there was no mention of this on GolfNow or a mention of it in the pro shop while checking in as well as the grass being too long on the temp green area to even consider putting. And if you become efficient at putting on this grass, it will ruin you for any real green. Second, the fairways have been cut what looks like not the same day or two of me playing. There is so much dead grass clumped in rows down the fairways and rough. Third, the restaurant. Fish was undercooked and crawfish etouffee tasted old. Like old crawfish that probably shouldn’t have been used and bland. No spice. Fourth, no seltzer options for drinks. C’mon guys.

The course has gone downhill since the last time I played it. Hopefully it makes a comeback. It has tons of potential. The staff is super nice. Just some notification of deficiencies on course and attention to detail on everything would go a long way. I will be passing this course by for a while.

I understand they are working on the greens but it should’ve been said that they moved the pins up 30 yards or so on the fairway. Putting was impossible

Best layout in south Louisiana gone to absolute trash!!! Can’t get their greens right as it has been for years now. Freshly mowed fairways and rough, didn’t worry about the dead cut grass stinking up the entire course. Looks like weed killer all around, especially the greens which weren’t even open for play. Really wish someone would take this beautiful layout and make it what it was built for!

The greens are not playable at this time. They have flags and holes cut in front of the greens because the greens don’t have any grass.

The course need a lot of work. Definitely not worth the $66 green fees for 18 holes. Greens were horrible and non playable. Sand traps have not much sand in them. Look more like muddy flower beds. Sad to see such a beautiful course be so neglected. Not going back until someone fixes the issues.

Fairway beautiful,greens rough, sand traps are bad

The course difficulty was good and challenging, the field bathroom was absolutely disgusting, I felt bad my wife had to go in there. Greens were horrible, large amounts of old dead grass clippings in most of the rough. The best part is the Restaurant—- food is 10/10 —- the course 5/10— this course could be a destination type place with some work.

The layout of the course has always been exceptional. The greens and sand traps have a long way to go to get back in decent shape.

This course provides an excellent day out. Beware and accept that the greens have seen better days and are pretty beaten up ,otherwise it’s as good as it gets! Yes , I’m means really beaten up :-) .Such a shame.

Course was is decent shape minus a few holes. Hole 5 had a little swarm of bees on It, but didn’t come after you. Overall course was fine to play and will be back to play again.
