The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

Greens are better than winter time greens but still needs improvement.

Greens need work, they need to shut down one green at a time, use a sod cutter to strip the top and redo from scratch.

I have played this course about 4 times in the last 2-3 years and while the course is beautiful, the greens have always been in rough shape on about 8-10 holes. It made the course almost unplayable, which was awful because the rest of the course, clubhouse, etc were always aweomse. But a buddy who never played here wanted to go try and I heard they had improved the greens so I decided to give it another shot being that I hadn't played there since Sept' 2025. And I am pleased to report that the greens are in MUCH better condition than any of my previous tee times. While some greens still have minor bad spots here and there, the overall upkeep and healthiness of the greens are night and day from last time I played. Very pleasantly surprised and I will be playing here more often now that the greens aren't holding the course back from truly being one of the nicer courses in the area.

Course was in great condition. Lots of wind though out the round and pretty crowded.

I’ve played this course probably four times in the last month. The course is very scenic and is surrounded by cypress trees, ponds, oaks and various wildlife from egrets to alligators in their natural habitat. The course is challenging but playable for all ability levels from one of the five sets of tees. Rumor has it that the greens are in bad shape but that isn’t the case. A few are a little spotty with some small bare patches but overall they are much improved from my first round and getting better. The unique layout requires some decision making and presents fun course management challenges. Unlimited range balls are part of your green fee for their practice facility that has a turf driving range, chipping area, putting green and sand bunker. 4.7 stars from me.

Always did love this course. It’s beautifully laid out and has many tee locations to accommodate different handicaps. Greens right now are just a little rough. But they are getting better. Some spots the balls will bounce because of the grass but they are playable.

Weather and course was just fine. Enjoyed the round

I’ve played this course many times through the years, and it is my favorite layout in the area, but they have absolutely lost their greens. They are unplayable. Such a shame because everything else is top notch. Food, service, etc is first class.

Everything was great. The course is beautiful and roomy. I do feel the greens could be better maintained. They had a lot of weeds, or crab grass? I’m not sure what’s it called. Other than that this place is awesome.

The golf course is nice except the greens are deplorable and it expensive to play for what you get

Greens are not good at all. Course should lower green fees until issues with greens get fixed.

I liked the layout of the course. Alot of the bunkers have been turned into grass. The bunkers that were still sand were not well maintained at all. The greens were very bad with alot of bare spots. They were also some weird type of weeds all over every green.

I played here for the first time in 7 years. I paid $45 and could not regret it more. That was the Hot deal even. Every single green is absolute garbage. The rest of the course not so bad. Fairways, tee boxes in decent condition., but the greens are the most atrocious thing I've ever seen on a golf course that wants 50 bucks on a weekday for the regular rate.

THE GREENS ARE CRAB GRASS (50%) You would be better off paying $20 at another public course. This course will probably closed in two years. The ball bounces up and down when you putt.
