The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

The course difficulty was good and challenging, the field bathroom was absolutely disgusting, I felt bad my wife had to go in there. Greens were horrible, large amounts of old dead grass clippings in most of the rough. The best part is the Restaurant—- food is 10/10 —- the course 5/10— this course could be a destination type place with some work.

The layout of the course has always been exceptional. The greens and sand traps have a long way to go to get back in decent shape.

This course provides an excellent day out. Beware and accept that the greens have seen better days and are pretty beaten up ,otherwise it’s as good as it gets! Yes , I’m means really beaten up :-) .Such a shame.

Course was is decent shape minus a few holes. Hole 5 had a little swarm of bees on It, but didn’t come after you. Overall course was fine to play and will be back to play again.

First time playing the course. The bunkers need sand in them. All were like hard pan. Fairways were in great shape. Greens looked ok, but rolled better than they looked. Had lunch after and enjoyed that very much. Will definitely come play it again.

This course capture what golf in south Louisiana should look like. Course lay out is great. Greens are good. Fairway grass is very good. Sand traps need plenty of work.

Love the layout. Love the clubhouse. Carts are good and have GPS maps. The greens need some attention. The sand traps need some sand. Overall for the price, I would play there again. It could be a really great destination golf course.

This was my first time playing this course. It was fun and challenging. I was skeptical after reading some reviews. The greens were in ok shape and very playable. There is room for improvement here. Attention to detail around the course as far as tee box markers(lack of paint/color) and broken/missing Tee signage was a little confusing on the front 9. The only really frustrating part of this whole experience was the computer onboard the carts. ADS, the flipping ADS. They are constantly popping up and at the most inopportune times and stay up for too long before being able to click past them. Being my first time, and trying to use the course map/scoring system, this became infuriating. Will I be back? Probably, but I will ignore the ads and never call upon those that advertise here, it made me that angry.

Greens are better than winter time greens but still needs improvement.

Greens need work, they need to shut down one green at a time, use a sod cutter to strip the top and redo from scratch.

I have played this course about 4 times in the last 2-3 years and while the course is beautiful, the greens have always been in rough shape on about 8-10 holes. It made the course almost unplayable, which was awful because the rest of the course, clubhouse, etc were always aweomse. But a buddy who never played here wanted to go try and I heard they had improved the greens so I decided to give it another shot being that I hadn't played there since Sept' 2025. And I am pleased to report that the greens are in MUCH better condition than any of my previous tee times. While some greens still have minor bad spots here and there, the overall upkeep and healthiness of the greens are night and day from last time I played. Very pleasantly surprised and I will be playing here more often now that the greens aren't holding the course back from truly being one of the nicer courses in the area.

Course was in great condition. Lots of wind though out the round and pretty crowded.

I’ve played this course probably four times in the last month. The course is very scenic and is surrounded by cypress trees, ponds, oaks and various wildlife from egrets to alligators in their natural habitat. The course is challenging but playable for all ability levels from one of the five sets of tees. Rumor has it that the greens are in bad shape but that isn’t the case. A few are a little spotty with some small bare patches but overall they are much improved from my first round and getting better. The unique layout requires some decision making and presents fun course management challenges. Unlimited range balls are part of your green fee for their practice facility that has a turf driving range, chipping area, putting green and sand bunker. 4.7 stars from me.
