The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

played here some time at the end of summer and greens were horrible and in some cases non existent. However this round was a much better experience, there were some greens that have a few issues but not even close to as bad as a couple months ago, they are doing a great job with the winter greens.

Course is great only problem is golf carts hardly any have range finders on them

This course has the bones and the layout to be great! The greens are in terrible shape and some of the fairways are rough. If this course received some TLC it would be top tier. The golf carts don’t have GPS in them anymore which is advertised to have them. Got this round on a hot deal and felt that even that was overpriced for the very poor condition of this course.

Carts did not have GPS as advertised. Greens haven't been mowed in days to weeks and were impossible to putt. There were two temporary greens that were impossible to play. This should have been stated online. Greens fees should have been extremely discounted due to the poor conditions. On the positive side, the club house and restaurant were very nice!

Course was in terrible shape. Greens hadn't been mowed in days (?week) and were impossible to putt. 2 holes had temporary greens (reportedly for over 2 months) that were not puttable. Minimal to no yardage markers or GPS on carts. No marshal to keep slow players moving along on a weekend. Excellent clubhouse and restaurant. Great potential but the course need much work.

For last number of years there always seems to be some sort of issue with this course. The latest of which is the greens. The greens on 2 and 5 remain unplayable and they’ve moved the hole off the green. We just skipped these and played 10 and 11 again. Before this it was the bunkers and the fairways to an extent. They have gotten those better but now the greens. Besides holes 2 and 5, the rest were like shag carpet. I’m sure they are doing something to try to repair them, but that should be made known to the people playing the course and reflected in the rates. Also, the carts used to be equipped with GPS, that wasn’t available on my cart. They should not be allowed to say “GPS included” when that is not actually the case.

Love the layout of this course. The golf carts could use some work. They had gps on the golf carts but out of the whole fleet of golf carts available only 7-10 of the gps work. The greens were thick and slow prolly to not cutting them for winter treatment. A couple greens were not playable as the winter treatment killed most of the grass on the greens and had to have a temporary green.

Got GolfNow Hot Deal to play. Two greens were not playable—skipped these two and played 10/11 twice to make 18 holes. Very picturesque course with great golf holes. Most disappointing part was the greens. Long, slow and patches of weeds and bare spots on some. Everything else was nice. We played as a twosome and got around in 3 1/2 hours. Would like to play this course with good greens. Player service girl brought us a cart right in the parking lot…very nice. Golf shop was well stocked with good merchandise. Overall it was a fun day golfing.

This course use to be one of my favorite within an hour drive of Lafayette. Lately is has just gone from bad to worse. Practice areas are still nice but as soon as you get to the first hole the disappointment sets in. Not to mention a couple holes are completely shut down and the only sign to tell you about it was a small sheet of paper by the check in desk.

Greens were so soft you left foot prints as you walked. also the carts are just as bad as the course, all tires are worn through my cart crapped out on us with 2 holes left to play and we could only go in reverse to finish the round.

I never leave reviews but at this point Unless they significantly lower the price per round i hope to save others from playing a course that should ultimately close for a month for repair.

On a positive note they do have some of the best French fries around.

It's a shame to pay almost $60.00 to play golf ⛳ on a course that's not playable. The karts is in bad shape about falling apart, the greens was tore up and wasn't playable. Want be playing there again until the course gets better.

I’ve played this course several times and love the layout, but the greens were horrible and there were two temporary greens. Tee boxes had very little grass and covered in sand. Course needs lots of work to restore it to its original condition

2 greens almost completely dead with false greens in fairway to replace (un-puttable). Remaining greens have plenty of dead spots and weeds.. Greens were so long they were virtually un-puttable. Playing partner quit after nine holes b/c of course condition.

Played Atchafalaya for the first time since Covid, probably 2 years. Really like the layout and level of difficulty and variety of designs throughout the course.

Main issue was the greens, they are very rough. Lots of weeds to manage and looks like they're keeping the grass high so putting was a crazy slow and bouncy.

Still enjoyed the round and the atmosphere and the staff, all were great. This is a great spot for friends from New Orleans and Lafayette to meet in the middle for a round. in a relaxed, natural setting.

Heard great things over the years but those days are long gone! Worst course I’ve ever seen as for a conditions! Carts falling apart. Greens in shambles. Fairways like a cow pasture. 3 holes on the front nine are just cut in the fairway 10-15 in front of abandoned greens. You get the idea. $10 is too much. $55 is robbery.
