The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

I really enjoyed this place. The lay out was nice. Most par 4’s I could almost drive to the green. It’s in a lot of woods which is ok with me. The greens were good for the most part. The bunkers were in bad shape but no big deal bc I take my ball out of them away. They had a guy working there name Josh he was outstanding. He asked me several time to carry my bag to the car ask if I needed help with anything. I will be back great place to play.

I have played here several times in the past and loved it. Today was completely different. The place looks like it’s about to shut down. The fairways were good, but all of the other grass was overgrown. The bunkers are all out of play and the greens were long.

Our cart barely made it around the course. We had to push it to make it go. Very Disappointed!!! ❌❌❌

Course used to be gorgeous. They are currently "redoing" all the bunkers so every one of them is unplayable. I hate to say this but it looks like they don't have the money to keep it up anymore. Overgrown grass and weeds everywhere except the fairways, which were decent. When/where they do cut, there's tons of dead, brown grass clippings (we call it hay) everywhere. Staff is still super friendly, food is great, probably one of the nicest clubhouses around but conditions just aren't near what they used to be. Hope they can turn it around.

The greens and bunkers we’re in bad shape. Overall the course is nice. I will definitely play again but I hope they get the issues with the greens and bunkers fixed soon.

Course is in great shape today. Greens were in good shape, a little thick on the cut so they were a little slow on putts. Course was dried out from all the rain and fairways were fresh cut. First cut on the rough was decent but stay out of the deep rough as it is thick. Some bunkers are, I would say “under repair”, but if you don’t hit in the bunkers you don’t have to worry about it lol.

Please fix the sand traps...going on a year or longer now in this condition. Either fix them or put dirt in them.

My group comes from Texas twice a year to play several of our favorite courses around the Lafayette area. It was several years ago we found Atchafalaya and fell in love with it. We felt it was the best course in the state. But over the past several years we have seen its condition deteriorate to the point where we will not be returning to it until we hear that it is receiving the attention and maintenance it deserves. One example would be the carts. They seem to be the same fleet that were purchased when the course opened. If you need an arms workout, try driving one for 18 holes. The actual course, greens, fairways, and teeboxes, are not being maintained adequately. Certainly not for the $70+ greens fee. Sad to see.

Loved everything about this course. This course will defiantly see me a couple times a year from now on. Looking forward to future trips.

This course is a really nice course on the Audubon Golf Trail. I believe the conditions were a result of the tremendous amount of rain in the past couple weeks. I think that’s what caused some of the course to be overgrown. Greens were furry and SLOW. Fairways were in good shape. Rough was ROUGH. No luck of finding your ball just off the first cut. Bunkers are played as ground under repair as they are in the process of working on them. I think a week of sunshine will do the course wonders!

They are trying but with all of the rain we have had it is hard to keep some areas mowed.Also they are having an issue with the bunkers.
