The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

The course was in good shape except for the bunkers. I noticed that work was being done on some bunkers, but the rest were in bad shape. I found that most of the bunkers were not raked and had foot prints throughout.

I have played Atchafalaya for 10+ years. They are suffering from the same thing that many courses are suffering from. Lack of workers and lack of players. Finding people who want to work is becoming almost non-existent and the national trend is that less people are playing golf. Less golfers, less revenue more difficult to maintain the course. I would rate the course mow (excluding the sand traps that are in the process or being rebuilt) at a 4. The greens, while in transition, rolled well. Always has been an interesting course to play. Finally, to Ed Seltzer, thank you for your hard work and enjoy your retirement, you've earned it. Bob Barker

Very nice course, alot of the course is being repaired. Great drinks and food.

This course needs to close down worst course I ever played. They blame it on lack of help. It is in horrible shape

Overall the sand traps are under repair. The course is making some of the traps smaller and still are a long ways from completion.

Greens are patch and dry.

The course design is a 10. The condition is struggling because of worn machinery and the sand trap work.

Beautiful setting for a golf course, but the course has not been maintained very well. Greens are furry. Bunkers are not playable. Fairways had not been cut in several days. If the course would keep the course in shape, I would return to play again.

I really enjoyed this place. The lay out was nice. Most par 4’s I could almost drive to the green. It’s in a lot of woods which is ok with me. The greens were good for the most part. The bunkers were in bad shape but no big deal bc I take my ball out of them away. They had a guy working there name Josh he was outstanding. He asked me several time to carry my bag to the car ask if I needed help with anything. I will be back great place to play.

I have played here several times in the past and loved it. Today was completely different. The place looks like it’s about to shut down. The fairways were good, but all of the other grass was overgrown. The bunkers are all out of play and the greens were long.

Our cart barely made it around the course. We had to push it to make it go. Very Disappointed!!! ❌❌❌

Course used to be gorgeous. They are currently "redoing" all the bunkers so every one of them is unplayable. I hate to say this but it looks like they don't have the money to keep it up anymore. Overgrown grass and weeds everywhere except the fairways, which were decent. When/where they do cut, there's tons of dead, brown grass clippings (we call it hay) everywhere. Staff is still super friendly, food is great, probably one of the nicest clubhouses around but conditions just aren't near what they used to be. Hope they can turn it around.

The greens and bunkers we’re in bad shape. Overall the course is nice. I will definitely play again but I hope they get the issues with the greens and bunkers fixed soon.
