The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

I enjoyed my experience as always. The course is very challenging. My only complaint is the bunkers! They are in very bad condition. Get them taken care of and this course will be a five star layout again

Lots of south Louisiana wildlife, landscape and beauty. Awesome clubhouse with a great back porch overlooking the golf course. Unique golf carts with gps. Great selection of tee boxes for any level of players

Great for the price bunkers need more work . Greens are good and fast , could have been cleaner.

Only reason for 4 stars on course conditions is because of the bunkers. Greens are great, seemed to be rolling at 10-12 on the stemp. Well worth the price Golfnow.

I have played this course over the years and to be fair the last time was probably over 6 months ago. I'm a member of a course 35 miles away that closes on Mondays and when I'm off on a Monday I look for a hot deal and try to make it. Over the last 10 years I have seen this course going from a pristine place like the one in the picture to a decaying old course where the traps and bunkers are holes filled with raked dirt. In fact, this last time they were all considered area under repair. I suppose there is a chance that the fairways will improve with the weather but I doubt it. Nevertheless, despite the fact that my club is in better shape I feel that the price of a Hot Deal is enticing enough and like the mouse of Who Moved My Cheese, I can't stop coming back hoping to find it as it was in the past.

Kind of adopted Atchafalaya as my home course, even though about 45 min drive. Always in great shape and greens roll fast and true! On the windy side today, but hey if I can wear shorts in early March it’s hard to complain. Use Golf Now app every time to justify making the trip. It’s a must play for golfers in Acadiana and I’ll be going back soon

When we played it was damp but the only course in a 70 mile radius u could play good course good lay out fair price

There are a lot of beautiful things about The Atchafalaya at Idlewild for anyone who enjoys a real challenging round of golf, but it is especially nice to be there this time of year. Today was a mild to cool afternoon with lots of sunshine and great playing conditions. The greens are smooth and quick and the fairways still have a fair amount of grass to give you a nice lie for your next shot. Good course management is a must when playing this course but the multiple tee boxes available on each hole allows golfers of every skill level to enjoy the championship layout. There are lots of friendly faces to assist you at the cart pickup area and the pro shop. The practice area feature a driving range, as well as chipping and putting greens that really help you prepare for the round ahead. There are a lot of things to enjoy about playing The Atchafalaya... even when the putts may not be falling!

Bunkers need some work but still great place to play

Only course I’ve ever been to that charged for you to have your kids with you. I was checking in and the lady asked if that was my kid and I said yes then she said does he play and I said a little bit then she charged an extra $30. I was shocked and said I’ve never heard of anyone charging for Children before, then she looked at me like I was weird. I will still play here but seldom now and I will be harboring some animosity when I do play. Too bad I loved this course. So it’s a great course if you don’t have young kids, that like to tag along. I want my sons to love golf and would be fine with paying if everyone charged, and will be fine paying once they are teenagers.

I enjoy playing Atchafalaya it a great halfway meeting point for my cousin and I. The food aftwards is always great. The course could sure use some work but overall it was playable and challenging.
