The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

Played on Christmas Eve - a few wet holes because of the rain they have had but overall a great day of golf ! Even saw a few gators in Dec. Greens still fast and true - pin placements on this day = hard for sure on a few holes ! Fun place to play for sure !

Considering the time of year and persistent rains this fall and winter, the course was in good shape. Carts were off the path, the greens were sanded but still fairly quick and true. Played lift, clean and place but only had to do it a few times. Of the three or four courses I play regularly in the area, this ones the best overall.

I gave played there many many times! Great place to play. The staff is so welcoming and try to make sure you enjoy you day and try to take care of any of you needs.

The restaurant is a great place to eat even if you go there and not playing golf!!

For a public course you have the feel of a private club!

I will be playing again when the weather allows!!

We were made to feel they were happy for us to be there.

The front nine scenery was beautiful; cypress and oak trees full of moss, waterways and wildlife abound. The layout was challenging, blind holes and narrow fairways.

The relatively small undulating greens had recently been aerated and sanded but ball rolled well. On the back 9 there’s 4-5 holes adjacent to residential, roads and such with a few greens that got away from ground keeper.

The club house, pro shop and restaurant were very nice with friendly staff and good food at reasonable prices.

Would I recommend, absolutely!

The Atchafalaya is on par with all of them and yet open to public. The course is excellent,the staff could not be any nicer and helpful. They are always cordial and would do anything to make you day there a pleasant experience. The food at the restaurant is home cooking and excellent. I have played there for the last year and half and have not had a bad experience. Great place great people great food go there when you can!!

Didn't find out the front nine was closed because of aerification until we had driven 100 miles to play

Make you hit a lot of different clubs wit accuracy. Also manage your game if you want to score well.

very beautiful course. greens was fast but not too fast. they were big. which i like. tough to get on green if ur short. alot of greens are protected by bunkers. fairways were a tad too dry. had very long runouts. i remember missing a 3 foot putt because i couldnt see a break but my ball veered steep right as soon as i hit it. caught up to 2 groups of 2 that was playing pretty slow. called it after 12 holes. shame though. number 16 is just beautiful.

Great course and staff. The extreme rainy conditions had the traps in poor condition.

Course was in overall good shape. I like the GPS in the cart. Friendly staff. The only thing right now that needs work are the bunkers. They had not been raked or repaired. Hard sand and some erosion in spots in the bunkers. However, I didn’t get in them often so I enjoyed my round Haha.
